- Tom Hiddleston cites a T.S. Eliot poem while reflecting on how he really feels about Loki's fate in the Season 2 finale of "Loki," and reflects on being "burdened with glorious purpose."

That IS the level of understanding his character every single actor should be aiming 🔥💚🔥
Loki realized that he was the only capable entity and, if he didn’t stand in the cosmic gap, not only would everything and everyone disappear but he would survive it all in a dark void. His decision was simplified: exist in this dark void with no purpose, or fulfill a GLORIOUS purpose by saving everything. Both decisions would end in his supreme loneliness, but the nobility of his action transforms him into the king he was meant to be. It’s poetic.
Great comment
It also builds on themes from the earlier movies, in that Loki previously understood kingship as power and adoration rather than service to and sacrifice for the people being ruled.
He has grown to the point where he is *worthy* to rule, because he learned to love and protect others.
The same point that Thor arrived at, and an emotional payoff that Odin set up.
Also, the Yggdrasil imagery was just too perfect.
As much as the MCU has been going for A WHILE and some of the momentum has been lost, this climax was satisfying in *every* way.
Beautiful comment. How did you write that 2 years ago?
@@erin9322your comment reminded of the scene in Avengers on the mountaintop when Thor has just grabbed Loki off the jet and they talk before Tony rams into Thor.
Thor asks Loki: “You think yourself above them?”
Loki: “Why Yes.”
Thor: “Then you miss the point of ruling, Brother. A throne would suit you ill.”
Those words could have still been resonating with Loki, since for him the events of Avengers were still very fresh in his mind. Good stuff all around.
Very well written! I have a question.: am I right, that this version of Loki appears in TVA after stealing the Tesseract when the avengers went back in time? So that means that this Loki doesn't have those experience, development what we have seen in other movies, like the experiences with Thor in Ragnarok? Am I wrong?
I could listen to Tom for hours❤❤
Same 😍
Moi aussi ,j'aime bien le ton de sa voix. Magnifique. Love tom .👍👍👍😘
Moi aussi j'aime bien l'écouter, j'adore le ton de sa voix.😘👍👍👍
The ending of Loki was the most beautiful ending of anything i have seen.
This is the heaviest sh*t for superhero (or villain or inbetween) series ever. Excellent perform for Tom Hiddleston, thank you 🥺
When Tom says 'We', he is giving credit to others which is probably not due. His passion for literature brought up T.S. ELIOT, not someone from Marvel. LOKI was the best MCU television show and I sadly doubt any other MCU product will be near the pedigree the Cast and Crew of LOKI reached. Bravo and BRAVA Ladies and Gentlemen of LOKI x!
We need Tom as James Bond
101% agree!
I’ve been clamoring for Idris Elba for years but after that YAAAAAAAAASSSSS
He would have been also great to play Elric of melnibone
Seeing him play D.B Cooper in the show definitely shows that he would absolutely murder that role 😂 He’s got my vote
His voice 🤤, his eyes 😍 i could happily watch an listen to this on repeat lol
I cried when he went to be “the god they needed”. And so sad at the thought of him being stuck there forever
You gotta love 🥹 Loki❣️
This is hands down the best of all the marvel shows and even movies. This beats end game. It hits so deep. Tom crushed this!
He became the king of all time.
His voice is so charming 🥰
That is character depth❤
I now vote Tom as Bond 007
No wonder the ending’s so good. Great minds
Tan bello eres la luz de mis ojos mi querido TOM...bendiciones 🌞🌺🩷❤️💖🫠🤲🙋♀️🥰
Beautiful. Thank you Tom.
That truly is … glorious…
I like that the most selfish 1st-tier roster Marvel character's story ended not in the conquest he'd originally imagined he needed, but in the unimaginable sacrifice that was needed _of_ him. I like that Loki finally found his way to become the Allfather (in a callback to his earlier stint _impersonating_ Odin, for the power & an easy life) just via a path he could never have foreseen.
Loki taking infinite time repetitions + slowly learning not only personal investment but also _empathy_ was the only way that particular guy's hero arc could ever have happened believably, without derailing his characterisation, & I like that the writers understood that.
Becoming the living battery maintaining the World Tree was very much his Iron Man "Snap" moment, & I felt it was perfect. ❤
100%!
The World Tree is really called Tree of Life( Celtic version). He filled his Glorious purpose and I smiled. Loki had a great ending.
Who would have thought an action movie has a philosophical background 🤔.
Everyone who was familiar with the everlasting wisdom of comic books
Sci Fi ...yep they do quite often
I can listen him forever...
Is it even possible to love Tom more?
Yes, it is.
Glorious purpose 💚🖤💛💚💛🖤💚
It is the same for each of us. Notice how Loki ended up forming The Tree of Life?!
Dang, Tom! This message is spot on to my current healing journey and recent dreams. It's pleasantly existentially freaky!
I really can't wait to see what he's in next.
Troppo bello❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love him ❤
Tom for President of the World 🌍
200 Likes and only 4 comments?? Let me change that!! 😇👌🏻
By the way 200th like from me! 😊👍🏻
No le conocía esas gracias a loky😮
Loki always burdened by glorious purpose.
Loki my boy ❤️❤️❤️
This is why marvels casting is so great.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
He needs to be a young Palaptine
i'd hate to commit to sitting there for eternity and then have buyer's remorse five minutes into it. though i guess he could remind himself that if he didn't do that there's nothing to go back to anyway...so if the loom were to just die like it was doing..does that mean all timelines just break up into nothing? is there anything special about the sacred timeline that it would remain? is the natural state of the multiverse to have no timelines at all? that'd be pretty sad... though can anything be sad if there's nothing conscious to witness it?
Robert frost writes a similar poem about the time passed and you reshape in grief.
❤❤❤❤
5000000000 millions billions dollars for u Tom 💐〽️
You Look so amazing ❤😍❤️😍❤️😍
Good art story movies tv 👍😎
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🤩
Ah-ha! This answers my question, 'Did Tom Hiddleston mean to incarnate Tom Eliot?' Yeah he did.
I disagree. He told everybody exactly what he was "burdened by glorious purpose" and the 2 seasons were simply his coming of age leaving childish ideas like *maybe having a normal life* with friends and love, and sitting down to be a god and live in the burden of glorious purpose. Cuz i mean he didnt have to let her kill he who remains, he was trying to have love. But that was never his to have, burden is his, he said so.
This guy reads a lot
Tom
James Tom/Bond
The trickster deity in west african tradition is also often known as the "father of sacrifice" interestingly enough vibe(cuz ya know africa did it first 😂)
He should be the one writing the show. The writer's only purpose was to show Loki's bisexuality only to force more of the crap woke agenta, while they don't understand the character at all. Tom Hiddleston is the only one on the series that understands the character and put a lot of thought on it (something modern mcu writers and modern Hollywood writers can't do) and he is enough humble to include the incompetent writers, while i am sure he was the one who thought about it. Just think who much better the show will have been.
Right, he has much more talent than the writers. Pretty much overqualified lol but good enough to make it work
Sounds like the transition of pre-disney to post-disney loki.
Shame, really
Please let the character loki rest don't let the woke create another bait and switch to ruin him.
Bruh who are you even talking to 😂
*Why do I get the feeling Tom H and his publicists are going down the overexposure path again as they did several years ago* ??
This man is a wax sculpture
