Despite its flaws, it was the last season written by the original writing team before Nick came in and completely got rid of all this season’s potential. It’s sad because season 5 onwards could’ve expanded on what season 4 left to offer but nope, Nick-whats-their-face said “let’s make the girls 16 again 😍” and completely left Roxy in the dust.

I kinda liked season 5 and 6 simply because the Trix are amazing villains and they're a lot of fun to watch. To be fair when they still had Ariana Grande, Elizabeth Gillies and Keke Palmer in the show that's where I liked it. After the trio left (well Keke was the only one that lasted till season 6) after season 6 ended, that's where I really don't like the show at all
Every time I hear Keke in interviews, my mind can't help but to think Aisha whenever she talks lol

I have no problem accepting Believix as a temporary solution for the girls to combat new enemies or dark forces on Earth, but I've always thought that having each of them earning it at different locations around Earth would be brilliant, and also fits far better given Believix isn't bound to just Gardenia, and evil is spreading around the globe. Plus, the girls at least get to explore the world and finds resemblence of different locations around earth to their respective homeworlds. Think about it:
    - Stella: Studying and becoming part of the fashion industry in Paris or Italy (World of Winx, anyone?). Just imagine her creating her own house of fashion or opening her own class for runway walks...
The sound of her heels would be a blessing to the ears...
    - Flora: Environmentalist of the Amazon, Brazil, while this is also a chance for her to go against Diana, making Diana believes in her heart to stop vengeance. She also gets to embrace her Latina-ness even more since she's now being part of the human world, and I would love Helia to be a loving supporter of Flora's advocacy.
    - Musa: Visits China or South Korea and finds similar features to her homeworld, Melody, while also channeling her love for her mom via her Music career there. Kpop/Cpop Artist Musa is a vibe. She'll climb the chart really fast.
    - Tecna: Japan/Germany suits her for her expertise in technology. She can work on new mechanics, gaming systems, robots, devices...the list just goes on. I pray Tecna can work on functional wings to help people fly away from all the terrible traffics or things they have to bear with everyday.
    - Aisha: A sporty queen is fitting for a sporty environment. Aisha will be based in Greece where she discovers even more of her sporty potentials and making herself a name there (The Olympics). Plus, Greece is close to the ocean, so she can also feel like home being in and out of the water all she wants.
    - Bloom: Gardenia is perhaps the only place on Earth that fits her. She's good with people in general and would be a great mentor to Roxy after she and the Winx found out about her true nature. Bloom will also be having difficulty adjusting her current life since Domino has been restored and she needs to balance between being with her real parents and her adopted parents.
    - Roxy: She's the reinterpretation of young Bloom. She has little to no idea she has magic powers and constantly wonders why she's always encountering, talking to, and saving animals with ease unlike everyone else. She'll very often be connected to Bloom (like Daphne) and Flora (through her nature aesthetics), and also be introduced to the idea of fairy magics later during the season.

What I hated about season 4 is that bloom and sky already solved their jealousy issues in season 2 so bringing it up in season 4 is so stupid. Same with Riven. His character development died completely (however musa was def emotionally cheating so I can understand Riven’s frustrations). The only thing I liked about his character was his friendship with Nabu. Tecna was put completely to the side as usual like her character had no point this season(her believix was a serve tho). Id say the same thing about flora but they marketed the crap out of her believix. I think the way believix was earned was very lazy especially compared to enchantix and EVEN CHARMIX. Season 4 had a good concept like with the imprisoned fairies, the wizards, making people believe in magic (although this should’ve been put more like making the magic aspect as hope and helping people make a change rather than making them believe in fairies) but in execution the focus went on more issues that had been resolved seasons ago rather than the actual plot.

For Riven (Sky and Stella too tbh) it's not just a disregard of character development - it's flanderization to the point of him becoming out of character. Riven wasn't a romantically jealous person prior to season 4. The only time he displayed something similar before was in season 3 when he saw the video of Musa and Nabu. In that situation he had visual "proof" even though it was just the camera perspective misconstruing the situation. Not to mention he and Musa were in the middle of some stupid relationship drama.
In season 2, he straight up sent Jared, a guy who was low-key obsessed with Musa, directly to her even though he liked her. I just don't understand why he's suddenly the crazy jealous boyfriend. He was also super supportive of Musa in her season 2 concert episode. So why is her pursuit of music suddenly a problem? None of it made sense.

My headcanon is that earth fairys just automatically have believix wings like how fairys from flora's homeland are more nature themed than one that'd come from solaria. Once believix was gained they borrowed magic from Earth fairys which is why they gain Earth fairy wings. And I'm also headcanoning that believix is canonically weaker in strength compared to enchantix but potentially stronger based on how many people believe in the fairy fighting for them when near. Else they really have no reason to use any other fairy forms since people of Earth all believe in the winx.

Edit bc I just had an epiphany: your headcanon also justifies why Winx keep getting pressured into collecting new transformations. If Believix is power borrowed from earth fairies, then it would make sense that it only works at 100% power _when used on earth._ If used anywhere else, it's simply not as powerful... which wouldn't normally be an issue, except for the fact that the Winx aren't normal fairies. By season 3 and onwards, the show treats them as an elite strike team that's regularly deployed across the universe to deal with universe-ending threats... and in order to do that, the winx _need_ to always be at 100% power (no matter _which_ planet they're fighting on).
Each higher fairy form is at it's most powerful when used on the planet it's sourced from - being so close to the source of their power gives it a big powerup, making that form the best one to use while you're there. However, if you use a higher fairy form on a planet it's _not_ native to (away from it's power source), it loses it's "home field advantage" and ends up being only about as powerful as... say, charmix. That's why it's so important for fairies to unlock their enchantix transformation: aside from the basic fairy transformation and charmix, it's the only fairy form that doesn't lose most of it's power when used on foreign planets.
This would also drive home how Sirenix really _is_ a legendary transformation that's worth going on a season-long quest for (and worth risking your magic if you fail). Even _with_ the restriction of "it only works at 100% while underwater," it can still be used at max power no matter what planet you're on. Very few (if any) other higher fairy forms can do that.

      My thoughts exactly
I always assumed that Earth just had its own specific type of fairies, which also explains Roxy's wings.
Technically we've never seen earth fairies before, because Bloom isn't really an earth fairy so why is it strange that earth fairies have a different design than the other fairies we've known so far?

      My thoughts exactly
believix is similar to enchnatix in the sense that it's a final form, but it has a different source of power at its core. It's very simple really. A fairy can take her power from Dragon Flame, Faith or Water Stars. Other sources may also exist. I genuinely believe that Mirta's base form has believix wings, for she transformed because she believed that she could since fairies and witches were not that different.

@Will N did not think of it that way, but you're probably right. It does look more like Enchantix. The reason I thought it was Believix is that I noticed the difference of her outfit after the 4th season aired and simply made that connection, but Enchantix makes more sense

But I sort of accepted it as her having an incomplete form of Believix since she technically has the wings and design but wasn't able to utilize a lot of the special abilities that comes with being a believix fairy. Honestly, a good parallel to Bloom having an incomplete form of Enchatix and wasn't able to use some of the special abilities like miniaturization.

Roxy’s character got completely wasted, and it is a shame because having her be the new main character could have saved the show. Imagine if the shallow Zelina vs Bloom plotline from season 6 was instead between Zelina and Roxy. After becoming a fairy, Roxy would have grown apart from Zelina and left her behind. Magic gets brought back to earth in s4, meaning Zelina could find the Legendarium and, being “abandoned” by Roxy, would be in a vulnerable state to be influenced by Acheron. Season 6 could end with Roxy, Zelina, and a new squad of freshman fairies defeating Acheron alongside the winx (or even without them). Roxy could have even earned her enchantix by saving Zelina. The winx, realizing that there is a new generation of guardian fairies, would feel confident enough to disband and go on their individual paths (returning every so often for nostalgia). This would have allowed the writers to start a new show which would appeal to both old and new viewers without destroying the winx’s characters. I love this show with all my heart, but I sometimes wish it had ended after season 3. It doesn’t have the same magic as it did before.

Season 4 is where the series jumped the shark for me. In addition to what UnicornOfWar has already pointed out, it's also when they started making the winx "chosen ones." The Winx were (mostly) normal fairies who kept taking matters into their own hands when bad guys started throwing their weight around, using nothing more than their training and teamwork to put things right. The ethereal fairies and their gifts of destiny feel like a cheap, contrived shortcut.
The fourth season is also so full of plotholes that it falls apart if you think about it for longer than 2 minutes. If Believix is gained by making someone believe in magic, why didn't Stella or Bloom get it when her parents learned of magic in the series premiere? If the fairy hunters are in the "hall of villains that threatened the entire universe", then the magic dimension obviously knows about them and the threat they pose... why haven't they been dealt with before now?
Why are they even _called_ a universe-level threat in the first place? Even though the season premiere made it painfully clear that the Black Circle can drop in and "harvest" the fairies of Alphea at any time, they've stayed put on earth for _centuries_ after magic was already gone and never left to hunt fairies on other planets. Why? Why now?
Magic has been gone for centuries on earth, which means the earth fairies have been sealed away for centuries.... INCLUDING ROXY'S MOM. How did she have Roxy if she was trapped in Tir Nan Oog this whole time? Unless she snuck out, had a kid, then returned to fairy jail, the entire timeline makes no sense.

A lot of the confusion seems to come from the English dubs… in the French dub, which I grew up with, it’s made clear that Roxy IS a believix as it’s the earth form but that her form in incomplete like Bloom’s enchantix was. They also de-transform into enchantix after heading back to Alfea at the end of the season which shows it’s an earth only transformation. Or at least, was supposed to be until future seasons came along.
Also, Bloom is not an earth fairy. She’s a fairy from Domino so her power isn’t what the sorcerers of the dark circle were after.

I agree with the fact that the Girls should be more divided, more moments between Musa and Aisha thinking about staying on Earth for their projects, Flora and Tecna giving to Earth their knowledges and ideas to make the life better and reducing pollution and climate change, or Stella discovering the fashion of Earth and wanting to become a fashion designer but having to deal with her future duty as queen of Solaria

Yeah, that bothered me about S4. Considering the state that Earth 's magic society is in pre and post Fairy Hunters,it's bothers me how the girls do nothing to help the Earth outside of defeating the Fairy Hunters. They basically managed to not only eliminate most of Earth's magic community, but also the idea of magic itself. So Earth's magic is back, but it's in a world that's doesn't have the infrastructure to support it.Where do the new Earth fairies and witches go to discover how to control their powers and learn the morality of magic? Bloom was lucky that Stella came along because otherwise, shewould've been stuck and likely to hurt herself with her powers. The people who reawaken their magic aren't going to have the same luck. They might want to stay on Earth and not drop their lives there's or want to go,but don't have the opportunity. If there were magic schools, they got sacked when the FH did their thing.
The Magix Dimension has all sorts of people trained in magic and tech to deal with that. But Earth is technologically behind and doesn't have enough trained magic users so one untrained mage could still do a lot of damage, let alone a serious threat like the Trix in S1. And before you say Earth Fairies, would they really have the time to deal with that given what they lost, they're lost likely going to focus on recovering and helping their own people from the damage the FH did. What about dealing with the many leaders and governments in charge? They're going to most certainly notice magic and they wouldn't have the best interests of the new magic community.
They try to pass off S4 like a happy ending for Earth but then I think about the massive consequences of magic coming back ,the just as massive social upheaval and it's not happy to me.the Winx Club could've done something like using their connections to give Earth some aid so they could get back on their feet.

Personally, Season 4 will always be my favourite (with Season 3 being a VERY close 2nd) but you bring up some valid points and criticisms I never even thought about. Since this season was supposed to be about the Winx growing up and becoming adults, I think Riven and Musa should have broken up because they've realised they are just too incompatible to make it work. The writers could have shown that you don't need a relationship to have a happy and fulfilling life and that breakups don't always have to be dramatic, tear-filled, toxic messes.
I'm not if this would be cool but what if the Winx stumbled into Believix by accident? Roxy's belief and confidence in the Winx triggers the Believix energy to surge around the Winx who just go with it and get Believix. Later Faragonda explains this transformation and how she had a feeling this might happen on a place like Earth. Thus the Winx get a secondary mission of restoring Magic to Earth in addition to primary mission of protecting Roxy.

I was genuinely raising ideas for what could've been the wizards' backstory as I was watching the 2nd half of the season. I was waiting for Morgana's court to happen so I can hear Ogron's excuse for why they did what they did. I wanted to see a villain with a motivation other than "I want to get stronger and I don't care if my actions to help get me there are unfair and evil".
One idea I had is that the Earth fairies are known as the most unique fairies in the entire Magic Dimension. They don't earn transformations like other fairies, but they have higher than usual power levels and are divided to clans or something. The Ancestral Witches became interested in their powers and cursed a group of 4 wizards for immortality until they can clean Earth out of fairy magic. They gave them The Black Circle as a means of trapping the Earth fairies, as it was made out of the energy of the ethereal spirits of Earth. At first, the wizards didn't hunt the fairies since they enjoyed their immortality, but after 1000 years, they got bored out of being alive so they said "screw it" and started hunting them so they can end their immortality and die.
I can actually somewhat understand a backstory and a motivation as that. That could've made them seem more human.
Another idea I had was to make the Earth fairies look bad too. The wizards were residents of Earth back at the era when fairies roamed Earth. However, because the Earth fairies were the strongest beings on Earth, they were the main judgemental source on the planet, and whoever didn't follow their plans to keep the planet as is faced great punishments. Humanity demanded technology advancements, but the Earth fairies refused, since they wanted to keep nature as is. The people of Earth decided that magic is nothing but a source of evil since whoever possesses it does whatever he wants. Therefore, the only solution was to declare war against the Earth fairies. All the (non-fairies) magical beings on Earth granted their powers to the 4 strongest wizards of the planet and the ethereal spirits of Earth granted their powers to create a black circle that can imprison the Earth fairies (that's why no Earthling has magic besides the wizards). The Wizards are ripping off the Earth fairies' wings as a means of pay-back, to make them feel grounded and hopeless, like how they made the people of Earth feel. The idea of the people of Earth not wanting magic to exist in their planet is very interesting IMO.
So much could've been done to make them more interesting characteristically and lore-wise.

I wish they gave us a look at how Roxy's social life is affected by her being a fairy. She has pink hair, and we clearly see that's not normal for regular humans. Episode 16 could've been cut and that open slot dedicated to her school life with Dumon shifting into another student in an attempt to get her secluded and alone. I think her appearance and powers would've made school difficult for her and cause her to be socially isolated. The Winx girls could've very well been her first friends ever.

I think that roxy could have had her enchantix in season 4 because if roxy would have sacrificed herself to close the portal of the black circle wizards instead of nabu dying she would have opted for her enchantix because she would have sacrificed herself for the fairies of the earth because in season 3 ms faragonda says that to have enchantix you have to sacrifice yourself to save a fairy from our world for example for stella are perre king of solaria

Imo in concept season 4 is brilliant but in execution not so much I feel like it just tried to do too much in such little time I think the story could have definitely expanded over 2 seasons, giving more character development and showing the girls adapting to earth and everything also giving them a more meaningful way of earning Believix it would have been amazing if we saw them individually making people believe in magic and earning their power how in season 3 they all earn their power individually instead of in group, also a longer run time would make give them more time to flesh out sophix and lovix bc I think these forms deserved more utilisation apart from an episode each, and definitely seeing Roxy go through fairy froms (magic winx, charmix, enchantix and THEN believix)
Edit: imagine if the first 26 episodes are winx adapting to earth figuring out what to do after graduating from alfea restoring magic all across earth not just gardenia (having each in different location would give us character development and I would especially love to see characters like Tecna or Flora shine) maybe around mid season they figure out about Roxy and then she joins them and around the finale is when the fairy hunters come because of the intense magic coming from earth they returned to destroy it once again creating an interesting plot for the next season where we get into the fairy hunters original earth faries etc

  • @MagicBelievers
    @MagicBelievers 2 роки тому +13

I have with my friend a rewrite or just re-idealizing the season 4 altogether because we both agree on that the Wizards of the Black Circle and the Earth Fairies plotlines feel totally like separate storylines with one leading to the other. We feel like they both are unexplored potentials and Believix doesn't work as a transformation after restoring magic onto Earth.
The Earth Fairies were justified in their search for vengeance and that would've been amazing to see explored more in detail and see Winx working for and against humankind and Earth Fairies because they get caught in between the two factions fighting, because the humankind wouldn't just like that accept existence of magic let alone idea of humanoid creatures OUTSIDE Earth. There would be multiple religious figures fighting against it, politicians, governments. Evil of humankind would be facing up against the Earth Fairies and Winx would have to come between them and show the good of humanity, and preach about forgiveness, acceptance and empathy. That would so much more compelling storyline to introduce and see how vengeance is not the rightful path even if you are justified to do so.
There is so much we are still figuring out and we just do it for fun and to yes, because we dislike season 4 plot contrivances.

Agreed. No way Earth would accept magic just like that,,it's like the writers didn't care that Earth as a society has had no experience with magic for centries, even with the people who aren't violent,it would be a massive shift for them.
This is what bothered me the most about S4. Considering the state that Earth 's magic society is in pre and post Fairy Hunters,it's bothers me how the girls do nothing to help the Earth outside of defeating the Fairy Hunters. They basically managed to not only eliminate most of Earth's magic community, but also the idea of magic itself. And they did a damn good job considering that magic is a myth. So Earth's magic is back, but it's in a world that's doesn't have the infrastructure to support it.not to mention the likely tons of girls and boys who have probably reawakened magic too(There's nothing going against the fact that magic is a genetic thing and it makes sense FHs sealed off magic powers so it wouldn't show up in present day)
What about education? Where do the new Earth fairies and witches go to discover how to control their powers and learn the morality of magic? Bloom was lucky that Stella came along because otherwise, she would've been stuck and likely to hurt herself with her powers. The people who reawaken their magic aren't going to have the same luck. They might want to stay on Earth and not drop their lives there's or want to go,but don't have the opportunity. If there were magic schools, they got sacked when the FH did their thing.
What about dealing with people who use their magic for bad reasons? The Magix Dimension has all sorts of people trained in magic and tech to deal with that. But Earth is technologically behind and doesn't have enough trained magic users so one untrained mage could still do a lot of damage, let alone a serious threat like the Trix in S1. And before you say Earth Fairies.would they really have the time to deal with that given what they lost, they're likely going to focus on recovering and helping their own people from the damage the FH did.
What about dealing with the many leaders and governments in charge? They're going to most certainly notice magic and they wouldn't have the best interests of the new magic community. if they didn't notice, are the Earth Fairies going to keep it secret until they recover?
They try to pass off S4 like a happy ending for Earth but then I think about the massive consequences of magic coming back ,the massive social upheaval and it's not happy to me.the Winx Club could've done something like using their connections to give Earth some aid so they could get back on their feet.

You know what everyone kind ofs forget? The Winx, in the literal last Episode, very last scene, where they are flying in the sky. in the last shot, when they fly towards the sun... They are seen in their ENCHANTIX Form! which to me meant back then "Oh so they are back to their enchantix since it's stronger" - but no season 5 ruined it. It could be that it was a mistake but idk ^^

Clearly it was an animation error, the winx flying into the sunset is actually taking from the beginning scene of the season 4 opening where the winx fly down to earth in their enchantix forms, also notice that Roxy wasn't with them when they we're flying into the sun despite that earlier she was seen flying with them across gardenia.

They dont get any progression, they dont get power ups despite getting being the counterparts to Fairies, they are constantly used as slaves for the bad guy of the season, and aside from th trix and Ms. Griffin there are no notable witches. I understand that this is the Winx show, but what was the point of making the fairies and witches polar opposites in season 1 if nothing was ever going to come from the witches after that season?

Personally I don’t count S4 as canon. I do agree it had the potential to be as amazing and dark as S3 if not a tad better, but there are just waay too many plotholes. Personally I feel Enchantix got cheated, like its true potential as an extremely powerful and legendary form was never shown aside fairy dust. I’m surprised you didn’t mention about Love and Pet kinda forcing them together. Imagine if Leila got a job as a fitness coach, Flora helps Vanessa, Tecna makes video games or becomes a UA-camr making videos about Earth products (her way of exploring Earth), Stella becomes a model or cosmetician and Bloom maybe becomes a graphic designer, and Musa’s is the same as canon.
Imo the pet shop took waay too much time, eating up 2/3 of the season. There’s absolutely no way the Winx could’ve kept up such a wildly successful business on their own (while being fairies and rockstars) without hiring anyone, considering I’m assuming Love and Pet became a global phenomenon because you can literally download pets from a computer. I would’ve also liked to see some being returned because having a noisy flying pet is too much hassle, so Roxy becomes the trainer (she’s hired and payed) Also just a sidenote, the Frutti Music Bar I think is a smoothie shop, I would’ve LOVED to see the Winx actually getting a tad tipsy just to confirm there’s actual alcohol (and they’re literally 19)
First episode: Winxology is never even clearly stated what it covers, if it’s for freshman fairies who haven’t gotten their wings yet? Clareese plot felt like it was added at the last minute, considering how stupid it was. I rewrote the episode begins with them already beginning their class, their presentation is ruined by the Wizards of the Black Circle attacking and ALL the students transform to fight back. The Wizards chose to investigate Alphea because they can’t find any traces of fairy magic on Earth (somehow she escaped into another dimension) they notice Bloom’s magic is unusual and target her, yayada, THEN Faragonda talks about Believix. Also their fairy dust allows them to read a book from the restricted vault which explains about Believix and the sad history of the Earth fairies demise.
Admittingly I got so close to cutting Believix out because of how underwhelming it is (mainly the outfits pale in comparison to Enchantix) I’d also like to see them earn it individually like Charmix and Enchantix through helping different humans believe in magic.

Season 4's overall issue is that it had every element available to surpass season 3, but it just failed in almost every aspect. And sometimes I get the feeling Rainbow listened to some fans when (at the time) they said they didn't like Roxy (I blame it on the weak plot but I digress) therefore completely ignoring her after this season but on any other scenario where we say we don't like something, they push it even more. They KNOW we don't like the newer season, and they keep making the same decisions. They just don't care to put in the effort because it's a "children's show". And honestly its Just so sad, this show could be the blueprint to a new generation of cartoons and children storytelling

This was a really interesting video. I haven't seen season four in ages. I remember watching the Rai dub back when it was clear that 4Kids wasn't going to continue dubbing the series, but this was ages ago and I'm even sure if I watched the Nick dub of this season. I do remember enjoying it, but the relationship melodrama stood out to me even back then. Sky being jealous of Andy and Stella thinking that Brandon was cheating on her felt so weird. The timeline hadn't devolved into a giant mess yet, so by this point, the Winx and the Specialists had been dating for years, risked their lives for each other and Bloom and Sky were engaged in the movie, although how much the movies tie into the continuity of the series is debatable. Couples can obviously still get into arguments or make bad assumptions even after being together for a long time, but at the same time, it just felt weird and contrived to have them get into these petty jealousy fights. It read more like they didn't know how to create natural problems with these relationships and just went for the easy jealousy drama route.
The only one that felt natural was the fight between Musa and Riven, but even that was going a bit overboard. I agree that they should have broken up during this season instead of season six. It kind of felt natural since they were both having such serious communication problems that they couldn't or perhaps didn't want to deal with. Killing off Nabu is still such a huge shame too. It still felt like they did it mainly because they didn't want any of the girls to get married, which would have been fine if they didn't have them get engaged in the first place. I'm not even sure if Nabu's death led to a lot of interesting storylines for Aisha afterwards, mainly because I didn't keep up with the series after season five.
I don't remember much about the Fairy Hunters themselves, so I can't speak on their characterizations, but I do kind of appreciate that they had a whole season without the Trix as the villains. Even by the end of season three, I remember getting pretty tired of them. They just felt so less threatening after being defeated multiple times and the Winx getting new transformations made it harder to really make the Trix stand out too. Being willing to actually have a villain not associated or connected to the Trix honestly sounds like a something they wouldn't even consider doing now in the main series at least. I also kind of appreciate the Fairy Hunters' outfits giving off such a late 2000's vibe.

My headcanon for wizards of the black circle was that they had ended up in the Omega Dimension somehow, and broke out and escaped due to Valtor's chaos, but needed the time of s3 to regain their strength and make a plan. As wanted criminals they would've been isolated from society, hence gaining misinformation about Bloom being an Earth Fairy, and maybe attacking on Alfea from a surveillance spell on the portrait was simply them taking a chance thinking they could end it all in one fell swoop. Also, would've loved to see more about possibly escaped convicts from the Omega Dimension. What kind of people ended up there? What did they do? And how many escaped after Valtor. Seriously, Valtor fucking up the most high security prison in the magic universe should've had more consequences, not to mention it's such an easy thing to draw future antagonists from. It sounds crazy but both of them share a personality and maybe they could discover some common interests and could go shopping together. Stella could feel guilty because of Mitzi being Bloom's ennemy but she could genuinely appreciate her and having someone to talk about fashion. Hell Mitzi could even be the one suggesting to Stella to become a fashion designer herself after a boring shopping day where Mitzi realized that Stella has great ideas about fashion. I love the ideas of redemptions and Mitzi could be an interesting character to redempt, becoming more mature and less selfish after her graduation and genuinely wanting Bloom to forgive her while Bloom could be still bitter for a while and be her impulsive self. I feel like "Winx Club" would have been okay with just 3 seasons and 1 movie because it truly tells Bloom's story from beginning to end. Season 1 talks about how Bloom is trying to get used to her life as the fairy of the Dragon Flame, and figure out who she really is. Season 2 centers around a lot of new characters, especially Aisha, who is a fan favorite. Season 3 shows how the main girls have really proved how strong they truly are, and how much they care about the people they love, so a big sacrifice was what made them Enchantix fairies to defeat Valtor, and Bloom was so close to finding her birth parents, so in "The Secret of the Lost Kingdom," she didn't stop until she reached her goal, and that is truly the very end of the series.
It was also pretty smart of the writers to make Bloom's Enchantix incomplete because she didn't really make a sacrifice, but at least she trusted herself to stop the Trix. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough, so she had to do something bigger and better in order to graduate Alfea. That was better, because at least not everything was about Bloom until the newer seasons showed up.
Although Season 4 is pretty nostalgic, "Winx Club" didn't really need more seasons and movies to keep the characters at Alfea forever. The show was better with only 3 seasons and 1 movie, and they were both really good, especially Season 3.
I'm just saying, the show would have been better this way.

I think that some of the problems that season 4 has have always been in the series since the first seasons: characters that lose their individuality (just compare Flora and Tecna from the first season with their versions from the rest of the seasons), plot holes (Bloom only 16 years old at the time of the first season, but at the same time everyone who fought for Domino against the three ancient witches looks very old compared to how they looked at the time of the battle), villains with no other motivation other than gaining power (like why the Trix even decided to become followers of ancient witches?), endless dramas in the relationship between fairies and specialists (Musa and Riven are the most striking example), lore, which was clearly invented on the go (Darkar was never mentioned in the first season, although three ancient witches obeyed him; there was also no word about Valtor until the third season). The fourth season has great ideas, but unfortunately the shortcomings that were in the series before began to noticeably catch the eye.

I remember seeing a comment a long time ago - I don't remember what video it was under, it might be somewhere in *this* comment section for all I know - that said Flora should've been Roxy's mentor. And I can't help but feel that would've been an amazing direction to take this show.
With Bloom's planet coming back to life, it would make more sense for her to be there helping Domino while they were getting their crap together. And I would imagine after graduation would be when Stella would've had to start real training to be the next Queen of Solaria. She could be around for a few episodes but there's nothing really else for her to do at this time. This would've been the perfect time for Winx Club to turn some of the other Winx members into *main* characters.
And throughout the show's run, Flora has always kinda been treated as the show's punching bag with her being the gentlest of the winx and often being knocked out in fights. Not to mention this very season starting off with the Black Circle trying to kill Flora when they get to Alfea. Her being the mom of the group as well as being the fairy of nature, it would make so much more sense for her to be the mentor for the new fairy of animals. Especially since people tend to forget that Flora doesn't just control plants, she has control over weather and animals too. In fact, if memory serves, this very season she straight up brought toys to life, creating the fairy pets.
Being the second most powerful after Bloom, she could have been the perfect choice for a new main character. Not only for the plot of this season in mentoring Roxy and beefing with Diana, but in growing her very character. It would've been cool to see her want to make up for the Black Circle getting the best of her in the beginning of the season and eventually grow to refuse to be a punching bag any longer. Her learning how to balance "protecting life" with "violence." After all, that's why she got beat up so much before, because she refused to severely harm any people or animals no matter how dangerous. Not to mention being the mom of a group - even a friend group - can be exhausting. It would've been SO interesting to see her trying to keep everyone together and basically lead the team now that Bloom and Stella were away, only for her to explode in exhaustion. Yelling at her friends for not getting along while she feels that everything is falling apart because of her. Going off the deep end and becoming more violent as she gets more and more angry about getting beaten and her friends getting hurt while protecting her. If we went this route, she probably would've sided with Aisha about getting revenge and killing the Black Circle after Nabu's death while the rest try to find a peaceful solution. Not because "revenge is never the right way to go," (as season 3 disproved) but because they're afraid Flora's going to lose *herself* in said revenge.
Hell, this plot could even build a bond between Roxy and Helia. As Roxy would've started to see Flora as an older sister before this point and is scared that this was probably the true Flora all along. Only Helia to ask her to help him bring Flora to her senses. Thus giving the viewers this montage of Flora and how much she's done and means to everyone while Helia helps Roxy understand who Flora truly is, which would revive Roxy's belief in the Winx.
*SO* much potential with one simple change. We could've had so much more.

It's definitely the weakest of the pre-Nickelodeon seasons, but at the very least I can appreciate that it actually tried to advance the story in a natural way and didn't egregiously ignore previously established canon. Can't really say the same about Seasons 5-8

This is about the problems of the Earth fairies:
I’m actually thinking about each Winx gets Believix on her own, like say they actually work individual jobs at first because they can’t find any job looking for 6 new employees, that’s kinda unrealistic (unless you’re working in a distribution center or warehouse) like say Flora helps Vanessa at her flower shop and helps a customer fill an order Vanessa can’t help with. I don’t really like how Roxy is kinda threatened into believing in them to get it, instead her belief in them does help strengthen it, BUT she will be a bit nervous about hanging out with these random girls instead of just “rolling with it” Roxy will get Winx. I’m sorry but despite she’s an Earth fairy, her “Believix” doesn’t even grow stronger like the others as humans start to trust them more. Plus I’m so surprised her dad isn’t kinda freaking out or flabbergasted his daughter isn’t normal, all it is was “This is impossible” He doesn’t even sit down with Bloom or the Winx, like “What’s going on? Why is my daughter a fairy?” Back to Roxy’s Winx, maybe we can make she does get Charmix or something considering she did overcome her fear of being a fairy, BUT she will NOT cheat around Enchantix with “saving the Earth fairies or freeing Morgana from a stupid mirror” The entire point of Enchantix is you are grown up and ready to endanger yourself or sacrifice something important for someone else without anything in return. The Earth fairies will be freed sooner. The pacing literally made it look like their revenge built up over centuries got blown over in like a week. When it comes to Diana, the vine thing Flora WILL be able to break free, but ends up collapsing because it took all her magic to get the plants to let go. She is the one to challenge Diana, NOT Bloom and this would be a beautiful way to show how powerful she truly is considering Flora is almost always considered one of the weakest all because she’s the shyest. Also I don’t like how the Book of Fairies told them about various Earth fairies, it seemed the book’s purpose should’ve solely been about gaining Believix, not about the Earth fairies, and instead Diana ends up telling them about Syllaba, the fairy of justice who is kinder and more wise than most of the Earth fairies. Also I seriously don’t get when Diana deleted her jungle spell on Gardenia, why the hell isn’t there a huge mob and major uproar at Love and Pet with customers panicking and demanding their money back while trying to return their pets? Its not like Diana erased their memories. If anything, I also feel the jungle spell should’ve had more devastation instead of a giant spider, like what about the spell enlarges ANY insect, or even there’s several dangerous plants attacking innocent humans? So as a result of the chaos and panic, Believix gets a massive bite in the butt, so they use Enchantix to unlock 2 mini forms. Half of the Winx stay behind to protect humans in Gardenia, while Flora and whoever else goes to confront Diana (I don’t even get how they knew where her kingdom was) Also the warrior fairies are literally weaker than the Winx considering they literally use spears and shields to use magic, cmon really? They’re centuries old and weaker than a bunch of 19 year olds? Also I’m planning on making Nebula does help the Winx to finally defeat the Wizards, BUT she ends up fleeing into Omega because I’d love to see how she’s so mad at them for ruining her chance at revenge it ends up ultimately destroying her.
Another issue with Roxy: If Morgana was trapped for “centuries” or magic has been absent for so long, how did she have Roxy and a family? This burns a HUGE hole in Morgana’s story as it makes it look like she deserted her kingdom because she wanted her personal happiness despite knowing her friends and subjects were literally in a war, being hunted down one by one. Also when the Wizards captured her, why didn’t they just kill Roxy when they had the chance? That’s kinda a stupid mistake I can’t see them making that the FAIRY QUEEN ended up having a girl (I don’t think male fairies exist in Winx Club) and I’m 100% sure many humans suffered in their conquest. I don’t get why they chose to simply erase Klaus’s memories either, like why? Originally I felt the only way around this issue was if Morgana wasn’t the queen, just a fairy who was instructed to hide and never use her magic and eventually saw how different the humans were from fairies and other magical creatures, in a way a magic-less life was simpler, but happier. I ended up having Roxy is actually a changeling, fairy child that was switched at birth with a human baby, BUT she is sent into the future so the Wizards will NEVER find her, but unfortunately Morgana was captured centuries ago, and this would’ve been more interesting to see how Roxy doesn’t really view her as her mother BECAUSE she didn’t raise her or anything, kinda like when a biological mother gives up her child at birth, but doesn’t ever try to establish a relationship unless they need something. And Roxy’s human mother unfortunately died in childbirth or when she was very young, so this adds to Klaus being a bit overprotective at times and like I mentioned he’s flabbergasted that she isn’t normal. Plus I am thinking about maybe Morgana does formally meet Klaus, and perhaps she’s so similar to Roxy’s human mother they kinda hit it off.

This season was definitely not perfect, but I find it to be a pretty satisfying conclusion to the winx Saga. This season pretty much ties what Gricelda(?) said back in the first season about fairies on earth and connects them back (sort of) to the magical dimension. (And also, it was so satisfying seeing the girls grow up and find jobs and go through life)

I agree with pretty much all of this. Season 4 presents some pretty cool ideas, but so often they go under-explored. And then the season just gets bogged down by things I don’t care about - contrived relationship drama, marketable plushie pets, etc.

Season 5 was the first season that was produced by Nickelodeon first, unlike how seasons 1-2 were recapped with 4 specials and seasons 3-4 were redubbed. As such, the show was now written by Americans first, and Nickelodeon saw fit to change the show to their vision. It's not right, but that's how it is.

I have to disagree with you here. Honestly season 4 is pretty solid in my opinion. The Winx being on earth instead of Alfea, the Wizard of the Bkack circle are one of my favorite vilain, some new characters are really good etc. Of course it has flaws like the romance drama, the inconsistencies of the transformations, the Winx band etc. But I still really enjoy season 4 despite of it's flaws. It's definitely not nostalgia since I saw this season back in 2017 when I was 20 years old. In my opinion this season deserves more love even if most fans agree it's the last good season of Winx Club. It's still underrated in a way.

Btw I understand you in the good points of the season, but there is no way of negate that they become season 4th onward (dont know if that is the right word, english is my second language) a mass with little individuality. Season 4 is the begining of the chaos. They had good ideas, but not so good execution.
This is a good comment, not a hateful one.

Great video - but I don't think Bloom became a Mary Sue in Season 4, I think that started in Season 5 and only continued to get worse. In Season 4, the Winx girls imo each got enough focus. Some had more than others, but it was still enough. They each felt like active members.

  • @shanepeed8125

Great! As always! My least favorite part of this season is DEFINITELY the relationship drama. Actually, I kind of wish that this specialists went in the season at all or at the very least only in the last couple of episodes.( I say this because we all know that Rainbow would never actually put the specialist on the back burner because they are the Winx boyfriends'). As mentioned throughout this video, this is the season about growing up . The girls are supposed to be 20 this season for crying out loud . They should not constantly need help anymore. In the first few seasons it made sense for two reasons. Firstly, they only just started their relationships meaning they would all be in the" Head over heels" phase and it would make sense that the specialist would want to constantly help the Winx. Secondly, an argument could be made that even as freshmen, this specialists still had more experience fighting monsters than the winx( especially bloom who had only just arrived in the magical universe) I think it would have been interesting to see the specialists TRY to go to Earth when the girls , but end up being turned down only for the Winx to need them later in the season. ( This would presumably be after a particularly nasty with the wizards where one or more of the Winx sustained not insignificant injuries) I think this would be a great way to still have the relationship drama angle if they wanted it well at the same time being far less in your face about it. Besides, anything is better than the later seasons where everyone is joined at the hip in the grand scheme of the universe itself.
P.S Hey UOW' I know you mentioned this in one of your videos very briefly while back, but I would love to hear your thoughts on Lolirock at some point in the future.

Glad I'm not the only one feeling this way about this show. Granted, I'm adult watching a kid show (but who cares) but even children deserve a story that shows you do not need to be in a relationship to validate your fkn existence, the proper way to communicate, how not to be a douche (looking at you, Riven) and why bad relationships are NOT OKAY!!! Kids have to grow up one day, can't a show set in a magical fantasy world (that keeps coming back to Earth...) show the right way to do it while dealing with growing pains and issues. fml, I look way to deep into this shit. Just give me my damn fairy wings and I can show these fools how to do this right.

Not only the seasons 5-8 should be rewritten the season 4 should also be rewritten- because writers just nerfed Enchantix and its actually start of Winx slowly going downhill, listen I love aesthetics of season 4 like Sophix and Lovix but this season also has flaws and introduces some plotholes so to fix it it should get rewrite to be better.
