    I have literally noticed the exact same thing! The only thing is I do spray my hair with water then apply the coconut oil. (I’m not sure if that’s wrong or defeats the purpose😬). Nevertheless, I use to think pre-pooing was pointless because I thought you were just wasting product. But one day I tried pre-pooing with the coconut oil and I have seen such a HUGE difference in the amount of moisture my hair retains. My hair will stay moisturized for almost the entire week until the next wash day! NOW, if I use coconut oil for anything else in my hair care regimen it drys my hair out.🤷🏿‍♀️I dont know Coconut oil is just one of those things I guess😂😂😂 GREAT VIDEO☺️👍🏾

      Nieja West If spraying your hair with water first works then you should stick with it! I think as long as you're not drenching your hair with the water then you're fine. 🙂 ; Moisturized hair for a WEEK?? Girlllll you can not beat that! I'm telling you, Coconut Oil has changed the game for me. But I'm like you, if I use it for anything else besides a prepoo its 👎🏾👎🏾 lol 😂; Thank you so much for watching ❤

    Yeah I have prepooed with coconut oil overnight and my hair after wash day has a easier time holding onto moisture. My hair even in twists or braids will feel dry after a day or two.

    You are so right! I started using coconut oil for 7 days overnight along w/mist of water and small amount of Cantu Shea Butter. It worked for me b/c my hair is dry!!! I did this when I wore a braid out and yes I had to braid it out every night but it was worth it to finally have soft moisturized hair.

    I’m low porosity and protein sensitive. Since I do not use products with proteins in them, I went back to using coconut oil as part of the LOC method for these dry winter months. My hair has been loving it. It’s so soft and stays moisturized for an entire week. It also helped combat itchy scalp.

      Housewives62 😍😍😍 I'm so happy to hear that!!! You're absolutely right. Coconut oil can be used as a protein substitute more less like Henna - both strengthening but contain no protein. I think it's awesome u found that it works for both your hair & scalp. I can only get it to work on my hair, but I'll take it! Haha ❤️

    I know we all are different, but I just did this for an entire year and didn't get either results. My hair never indicated to me a nay or yay. As of the New Year I have decided to try pre-pooing with conditioner and so far the results from my hair has been ASTONISHING! Of course I just began this so I'm not sure yet. One thing that has definitely improved is the amount of time saved and the extreme pleasure I find in detangling and the limited amount of shedding. I will keep you posted if you don't mind. Blessing to you.

    I wanted to let you know that I tried this regimen and I’m very happy to report that I’m enjoying very moisturized hair so far!!! I used to use coconut oil all the time but over time it irritated my scalp. It’s been about 2 years and I’ve big chopped for the second time...and last time,April 12, 2017. This journey has been significantly different from the first time due to the tremendous amount of information out there now. Thanks for this video, I appreciate the information and look forward to continuing this journey.

      Annette Sinclair Silva Hi Annette!! Thank you so much for sharing! That's amazing to hear 😊❤️ You and your natural hair look beautiful in your profile pic! Coconut oil irritates my scalp as well so I just apply it to the length of my hair & use EVOO on my scalp when I'm prepooing. That balance works perfectly for me 💜💜

    I have high porosity hair & my hair loves coconut oil. It sticks to my hair like glue (and it moves lol) it feels so soft & moisterized I really believe someone's porosity & density can make a difference on what works for each individuals hair. Thanks I feel that way about coconut oil too.

    I've had the worst luck with coconut oil BUT that was because I only used it as a hot oil treatment or as a sealant. I think I have just stumbled upon the key regimen I need to incorporate to keep my high porosity strands healthy. Definitely going to work on the overnight pre poo treatment with coconut oil on dry hair and report back in a month or so. The content of your videos are the best for naturally high porosity hair. ❤

Plz plz let me know if you notice Moisture retention after using it for a little while. 🙏🏾One thing I forgot to mention in the video is that it works best when you follow up with good moisturizing products on wash day. I notice that if I use products that are drying & suck my hair won't be moisturized for long regardless of me using the coconut oil overnight lol. But as long as u use the coconut oil & good stuff on wash day you should notice a significant difference in moisture - esp for High Porosity hair!

    • @AfroKhadisiac
      @AfroKhadisiac  6 років тому

      Gloria Smith Exactly!! It's so crazy the big difference it actually makes leaving it on overnight. Yes, I even do it when I'm doing a bentonite Clay treatment the following day. Anytime I'm washing my hair I do it overnight ❤

    • @missgloriasmith3323
      @missgloriasmith3323 6 років тому

      Afro Khadisiac wouldn't the bentonite clay clarify out all the benefits that the oil put in?

    • @AfroKhadisiac
      @AfroKhadisiac  6 років тому +1

      I don't think so because it's already worked its magic overnight penetrating the cortex. When you shampoo the following day you'd be removing the oil residue, not the actual repairing it did overnight. That's just the way I look at it but I could be wrong Gloria lol. I just like to stay consistent with the coconut oil because I know it's gonna help with moisture retention. If I skip it when I do bentonite Clay treatments my hair isn't going to retain the moisture for that week.

    • @shellyreynolds8948
      @shellyreynolds8948 6 років тому

      Why thank ya I so love chatting it up with you too Curly Q. I enjoy that natural approach not only for the money it saves, but I've really found that many of the products we use from food to soap. Are actually created to eventually make us sick. With me being in the Health Field, and seeing so many folks struggling thru this. It truly made me focus on placing my health first. My Mommy always says Health is wealth, and it's true, no matter how much money you have if you get sick, and pass you can't take it with you. I actually use all these oils on my hair, and body, I cook with many of them as well so I'm also eating them. Avocado oil I use mixed up with all the other oils, and use them on my scalp, and hair. I use it as well as grape seed oil in my lotions, creme's, and body butter's, for my face, and body. Sometimes I'll also use it with coconut oil as a hot oil treatment. It's amazing how many ways you can utilize these oils, and they just keeps giving. I'd say think of them as buffet for your hair. You know when you go to the buffet you want to get a lil taste of all the yummy treats to eat. Well your hair's the same, and once you combine all these oils there are so many nutrients, and benefits that your hair will happily munch up. The only pure oil I eat, well drink is coconut oil, which I simply place a spoonful in with my hot tea. I also use coconut oil as a mouthwash/rinse ( oil pulling ) it's amazing what it does not only for the health of your teeth, but your entire mouth.

      Chalsey Wilder I've always found that EVOO works way better as a sealant for me. Plus Coconut oil as a sealant makes my hair hard - that makes me go back to my explanation on how Coconut oil penetrates further into the hair cortex. It's more like a repairing treatment rather than a sealant. That could be why most ppl don't have success with it as a sealant. xoxo

      natural beauty gang 101 I'm sorry :( but don't feel bad. Coconut oil doesn't work for my scalp lol - just my hair. There's so many oils out there I know you'll find one that gives u amazing results if you haven't already. ❤ Also, Palm Kernel Oil is similar to Coconut Oil in that they both contain Lauric Acid so maybe that's something you'd want to check out.

    I think that’s y love to deep condition with it because it penetrates the hair. My minimum for deep conditioning is an hour. Yes I break the rules lol. And heat makes a huuuggeeeee difference I believe.

    Looking at your video history you have a love/hate relationship with coconut oil 😉 My girls hair is very high po,but since I discovered Bounce Curl gel her wash'nd'go lasts for a full week! Without any remoisturizing or manipulation or anything during the week! Just sleeping with a satin bonnet and that's it.

      Maud Heyyy Ik! 😊 Yes lol you know this!! When everyone raved about it I was 100% team EVOO. Now that I know how to use it for my hair I see the hype. ; Omg yes I remember your daughter, how is she doing? Is the ORS hair Mayo still working for her? (I think you told me you got it for her hair from my recommendation) ❤❤

      Afro Khadisiac she's fine, thanks for asking! The ors hair mayonnaise is still what I am using for her protein boost, but I am to replace it with the SM high porosity mask soon (it is now available here). Hope it will do wonders for her hair. When she'll be a bit older I will try and do overnight pre poo on her hair as well.

    Hey sweets thanks for the info I also have high porosity hair but when I put coconut oil on my hair it feels hard and dry like my hair doesn't like it should I ignore this would you recommend me still doing this method?

      Sweet Things Hey love!! Well when I apply coconut oil as a prepoo it kinda melts into my dry tangled hair and I'm able to finger detangle. It doesn't make my hair feel hard at all that way. Maybe u should try applying to dry hair, Leave on overnight & if your hair feels hard by the morning time I think you should pass. By the morning time your hair should feel soft but stronger - not crunchy though. Hopefully that's clear enough lol 😘

      Sweet Things also all brands of coconut oil are different. It could be down to the coconut oil you use
