I just finished it tonight. It took me two nights, as I was afraid to finish it the first time. It took me a lot of pauses before finishing, I get overwhelmed at certain moments that I had to pause and cry. After finishing the movie, I know this is one of the films that is burned in my memory and will forever have a place in my life. Some are not fleeting. Thank you Celine Sciamma. Thank you, Adele Haenel and Noemie Merlant.
I know, she is so interesting. You know she's one of those people that if you invited her around for dinner you'd still be up till sunrise talking because her visions and views are so interesting. Very smart woman who made this absolutely wonderful film.
At 12:50, Adele is asked by an audience member what it's like to be a muse who turned into a collaborator. She replies that she has always been a collaborator and when prompted to go into further detail, defers to Celine who very slyly and lovingly encourages Adele to answer as they would answer the same. Immediately Adele is uncomfortable and nervous and asks Celine for help. Without missing a beat, Celine jumps in and saves her. Idk, it's such a small moment but I've watched it many times and am moved by the love and respect these women have for one other. Not to mention how very protective they are of each other. Their friendship is something else. Chef's kiss. Goodnight.
"Haunted by the last image of a love story." When watching it, I didnt realise those images of Heloise were taints of the memory and it was a crossing between timelines, but now that I realise, it makes me love this film more and more. What a brilliant film and screenplay, damn
Céline Sciamma is such a brilliant mind. The way she explained the film being contemporary is just absolutely unique, and spot on. I've seen this film x3 thus far. And am still in awe each time I view it.
I love how they struggle with some of the English words and help each other come up with the right one. But they all speak good English. I would like to see Sciamma’s other creations. I hope to see these two women do a sequel or another project together. I also want to read the book that they were reading in the story.
"Portrait of a lady on fire" is one of the best movies I've seen in the last 10 years. A 1/4 thru the movie I knew what was going 2 take place, I was kinda looking forward 2 it as a guy, but 1/2 half way thru, i totally forgot about that and was just simply taken away of how beautifully the film was made & acted. WOW..
This film simply took my breath away! I've loved films all my life but now I don't think I want to see any more because nothing, NOTHING, will be as beautiful as this!
I love Adele, she is just soo real, like I can see everything going on in her mind, and the energy and awkwardness is so refreshing. Dont get me wrong I love Noemie too, but she has a completely different quality about her, the class and elegance, naturally exudes from her. She honestly intimidates me (in a good way) how collected she is.
Adele’s demeanor reminds of Kristen Stewart in her earlier days. I think it’s so refreshing and cute seeing someone so beautiful and talented get a little awkward and nervous. It shows genuine humility. I’ve always been captivated by Adele when I first saw her in water lilies! It was a pleasant surprise when I found out was into girls in real life! Well... not like I ever have a chance anyway, just happy to know she bats for our team 🌈
You can tell the relationship dynamics between Céline and Adèle just from watching this interview, haha! It is adorable actually. It seems like Adèle really looks up to Céline as Cèline is so mature and thoughtful and Céline simply adores Adèle and her playfulness.

I have been a fan of Adéle's for 12 years now (since Water Lilies first came out) and I have always thought that she may very well have some form of Autism/ADD. The unusual ticcing, seemingly involuntary repetitive movements, rather odd facial expressions and physical awkwardness etc really stick out a mile and seemingly point to a 'disorder' of this kind. However I just love how utterly unique and 'Adéle' these mannerisms are, and how special and 'herself' she is, and I truly wouldn't change a thing about her.
I wish I heard the questions more clearly, but I loved the applause from the people on the film. Celine is great. Wish more questions for Naomi as well.
