In this oral history, recorded on March 31, 2023, Melvin Aldous (#11458) shares his memories serving time at the historic Idaho State Penitentiary during the 1960s. Melvin vividly recounts his initial days as a "Fish," navigating the daunting environment of the prison, takes us through his various roles within the prison, from working in the Dining Hall to serving in the Chapel, and even venturing outside as a Trusty, and shares a range of experiences, from perilous escapes and assaults to moments filled with humor, offering us a captivating glimpse into life behind bars during his time of incarceration.
