How to Create a Two-Tone Dye Effect on Leather Projects

- In this video I cover how to create a two-tone color scheme on leather products. This particular method is how I add dye to my hand tooled projects. There are other methods of dyeing and coloring leather products, but this particular process of my work was of interest to many viewers. Two-tone dyeing hand tooled projects is a very simple process. I prefer probably the simplest method, which just involves using a paint brush and whichever dye color of choice. I carefully apply the dye to the outside borders of the tooling, and then make my way to the background. This can be a timely process, but when finished, can create a beautiful effect that highlights the tooling designs!
Materials & Tools Used in Video:
Leather - Hermann Oak natural veg tan
Dye - Fiebings Pro Dye - Dark Brown
Paint Brush - Royal and Langnickel (From Tandy)

I’m sorry for the poor audio! I don’t know why it uploaded so loud and scratchy!
Lovely steady hand.
I shake like a leaf on a tree most of the time haha! But somehow, I don’t usually make too big of a mess when I’m working

Have you ever participated in World Leather Debut?
Yes! I entered a fully tooled bifold wallet in the show a couple years ago. I didn’t win anything, but I had only been crafting with leather for about a year at the time and the wallet was definitely not worthy of winning any awards lol! I was also able to attend the show and it was an awesome experience all around! I met up with many other makers I had spoke with online and made some friends I still talk to very often! I’d love to do it again when I get the chance
