    Excellent vidéo EJ! You should be sponsored by the company 😊 unfortunately not available in Canada… at least under that name… very few pesticides here… I resorted to predatory insects to deal with thrips… but OMG they are expensive little creatures those predatory bugs! Plus, in winter over here not too easy to order and receive them alive… of all bugs I think thrips are my least favorites! They are a new nuisance for me… my first thrips arrived last year. I have been growing orchids for nearly 30 years! I guess I should consider myself lucky! Thanks again for this fantastic and very informative video.

      Thank you so much! I defiantly needed something that work a bit faster then predatory insects... But did it work for you? I tried lady bugs for the aphids, but didn't work so well. They didn't eat them all. So I did start spraying again. Luckily that works!

      @@TheOrchidSaGa Hello EJ! I used Amblyseius swirskii mites (after treating the collection with soap and oil in the first place). So far I have purchased two batches of mites and yes they seem to work but I don’t have much hindsight. My guess is I would need to keep buying more mites every three months because only one thrip larvae or adult left and the problem starts again… in my climate and with postal delays I am not certain they would arrive alive in winter… I don’t want to risk spending the money to treat over 200 plants in the middle of winter. Plus, having all these packets containing mites hung on most plants is not the most esthetically pleasing sight! I really wish I could find the product you tested here but after looking online I cannot find information about the ingredients in order to hopefully get an equivalent product in Canada. I could try another biological insecticide during the winter months? I can tell you I am keeping my eyes open for thrips or damage but I also know that once the damage is visible you already have a problem… inspection… inspection… inspection! 😂 and very importantly keep smiling despite inevitable bugs of all sorts! 😁

    for spider mites use:
    6 cups water
    1 TBSP dawn liquid soap
    2 cups rubbing alcohol at least (70%)
    mix well, spray on infected plant and soil, let sit about 30-60 minutes according to level of infestation. rinse well till no soap is visible on plant or draining from pot. do this every 3 days for 2 weeks for spider mites. also spray surrounding plants. its best to remove infected plant from surrounding plants while treating it for pests if possible.
    so if you use this solution for thrips remember life cycle is roughly 3 weeks, so you would do treatment for 3-4 weeks to combat the cycle.

      Thank you for sharing your recipe, do use a similar one for spider mites. I do add some oil to the mix. Because the oil is sticky and thereby they cannot move anymore. It works wonders for me for mites. Thank you for watching!

    Darn pests 😤 I never noticed thryps but I will look for that product, we never know when we might get them. However, last year I had spider mite damage on some leaves although I never could spot the spiders. I managed to avoid them from spreading using a mix of water, baby oil and dish detergent. But I agree, best way to stop infestations is to be vigilant and stop the spreading when it starts ❤❤❤

      This product does work for other pests as well. They only once it didn't work for that much where spider mites. But you have a solution for them already I see! I do use still my oil mix for them. Works wonders! Thank you so much for watching!

    Heel erg bedankt E.J. Heel informatief, ik heb deze zomer tot 4x toe een bloemstengel op mijn Vanda’s verloren, voordat ik door had dat trips de schuldigen waren, dus zal ze de volgende keer preventief behandelen en vooral de herhalingen in acht nemen! Heel behulpzame video ❤

      @@TheOrchidSaGa Ik heb jou behandeling ook uitgevoerd op een trips, deze zat op een verwelkte bloem die ik afgeplukt had, ze bleef ook voor dood achter, dacht ik, na ongeveer een uur begon ze echter weer tekenen van leven te vertonen, ik moet wel zeggen dat ik Edialux gebruikt had die al een tijdje gemengd stond, heb dan verse vloeistof aangemaakt en opnieuw gebruikt, daarna heeft ze geen teken van leven meer gegeven 🤣

    • @TheOrchidSaGa
      @TheOrchidSaGa  10 місяців тому

      Those are a real pain as well, luckily I do not get much scale. Maybe they do not like pumice that much. Both I rather didn't have! ... But we do get them all I believe.
