No one is fully a Taylor daughter, but I’d say Olivia’s the closest, even though she’s now leaning into her punk pop side. Her confessional, teenage relatable writing is very Taylor Swift. Don’t understand the Sabrina comparison though. Sabrina is (at least now, haven’t listened to her old music) very playful, sexy kind of pop and I don’t think Taylor has ever really done that.
Imo the taydaughter of it all is the amalgamation of former artists and making it into something of your own. You see influences in Taylor of Shania/The Chicks/some Britney and Madonna career. Olivia is that way with Taylor/Avril/Paramore. Sabrina we're stating to see the same.

@@LD-tn6ff ah I find that an interesting take on it. Just because what Sabrina does is empowering for her does not mean it would be for everyone. I think Taylor has expressed especially in her music some really sexy, horny, pining away type of writing, and yeah it tends to be more subtle and poetic but that to me is 1000x more sexy than how Sabrina does it. Which isn't an insult to Sabrina, it's just that it's different strokes for different folks you know 😂 I think at this stage in her life and career Taylor seems plenty empowered, in her sexuality and otherwise
i think eventually Tay and Olivia will talk to each other publicly soon, we just have to wait. The tension between them very reminds me of earlier in the carrier of Ariana and Mariah. Ariana is a well-known Mariah;s fan and she blew up on the internet by her covering Mariah's song, just like Olivia. Then the media and everything compared and pit them agaist each other. the tension was there for a while but then they talk agian. we just have to give them time. Olivia doesn't want to be a second/new Taylor Swift and Taylor doesn't want to be the old one which has been replaced
Omg I forgot about this and it's the perfect comparison. Like Ariana probably never meant for Mariah to feel those feelings. The media comparison, especially at that point in Mariah's career where she still felt vulnerable/self-conscious of being only known as a Christmas girlie, did not make Mariah warm up to Ariana at all. It's like a cat being cornered. Olivia's big blow up was at a time where Taylor felt like she was being replaced in the pop sphere (hence why she kind of retreated into the folksy folklore vibe). They can say they're ok with it, but like, would any person (girlie or even man) ever willingly want to give away their crown? Sharing a crown yes. Giving it away? Not really. People have to remember the entertainment industry breeds divas, or at the very least, self-centric forward people. I'm not saying this in a bad way, but when your entire career is made up of yourself, everyone is at least a little bit self-centered.
Except for the part where Olivia had give Taylor a writing credit on one of her biggest hits...cost her who knows how much money. So it's really not the same thing.

I agree; I really hope Chappell takes a long break to recover and integrate the trauma of becoming super famous very fast and then comes out with a banger second album like Olivia did. I've been glad to see in Olivia's recent interviews that Olivia is planning to take a long break now too. I just want all of them to be well; that is more important to me than receiving new albums quickly.

I saw her live for the opining of Conan grays concert and I loved her set I wanted to cry she is just so amzing,funny,and beautiful, I already listened to her music before the concert, I just love Maisie.

I think for me, the difference between the two is that Short n Sweet, as much that it's an album for the masses and the general public, the album has Sabrina's personality and it was created based on that personality, while Guts, as much as it has its personality and was also made for the general public, it works more like an album. In the sense that Guts is built as an album in mind so it has diversity, it has ballads, it has the catchy songs. So it's not an album you'd get tired of listening to if the album talked to you. While Short n Sweet is a great, excellent album, but it won't constantly stick with you if you are a person who consumes a lot of music and other artists, because you need to be in tune with Short n Sweet's energy to really enjoy it. But is an album that for me it gets better everytime and it's aging very well.

Before watching the video, my opinions on the Taydaughters: Olivia is Taylor and Hayley William's love child. Which is why the whole credit thing is so sad with good 4 u and deja vu. Sabrina is Taylor and Ariana's lovechild. But if we're talking about what type of relationship they have, I'd say it's older sister-younger sister. And they look up to the same artists. Sabrina saw how Taylor grew to this level of fame as she was growing up. She saw HOW to get there. But her initial inspirations were artists who were already on top when she was a child. Same for Taylor. Which is partly the reason why I think they have more of a sibling-type relationship. Idk if I explained it clearly tho. Gracie is Taylor and Lana's. There's room for improvement Maisie is, imo, Taylor and Ed Sheeran's child💀but I'd put her more on the Ed sheeran side. I loved her most recent album tho. She has potential imo Camila is in no way Taylor's child. I sometimes even forget they live in the same world💀

Camilla in the beginning really did try to be a Taylor. It just wasn't working. She also got really lucky where she got her Espresso moment in Havana. Her label then pushed her into that. The problem after was label management. They didn't know what to do with her after those smash singles. Olivia's biggest single was driver's license, followed with really big other singles. She went low and came up with Guts, which was really good. Camilla and her team floundered. Her racist scandals definitely did not help her trajectory but let's be real. If the music was really that good, people will ignore it. It's par for the course of any artist. Sabrina will be at this fork in the road post-Sweet and Sour era. If she plays her cards right, she cement her name. Otherwise, she'll be just another Camilla. Imo it's not really Taylor, it's the fact that she couldn't capitalize off of what Taylor, only in part, helped give her.

I almost fully believe that Taylor "endorsed" Olivia because she was getting ready to quit. Not in the sense that Taylor wanted to quit, but in Miss Americana she talks about turning thirty, and Lover being her last chance to grasp for a certain kind of success. With this, it makes sense that she would be nicer to Olivia, because she didn't see her as a competitor concidering the fact that she thought her career as a main-pop-girl in the spotlight was coming to an end. This was before the she knew the rerecordings would be so successful, probably before the eras tour was a thought in the making. I also believe that the turkey had something to do with her making herself ready to slow down (which I am SO glad she didn't). When she talks about her career in the documentary, she is talking about Joe Alwyn as a grounded and kind of force in her life that makes things slow down. I have my own little conspiracy that they broke up, because Taylor wanted to go back into the spotlight when given the chance, and the turkey honestly believed the "crazy" would slow down and they would elope into the mountains and things would be calm. Before the rerecordings, the Folklore-grammy and the opportunities, I think she might have romanticized the slowing-down-mountain life, and that could explain her niceties towards Olivia. Olivia wasn't seen as a competitior, cause Taylor thought she was done competing in that market segment. I find traces of this in Midnight Rain and Labyrinth, with her imagining how her life could be if she gave into the slow living instead of chasing a new round of success. In Labyrinth it seems like they're coming to some kind of agreement and are willing to try again (I heard the plane was going down, how'd you turn it right around, ohoh I'm falling in love again). Not to mention "The Alcott" which is Labyrinth in another dress. I honestly think that Labyrinth is overlooked, which I understand becuase the elvator lyrics is the worst ever. TLDR; Taylor was ready to step back, not because she wanted to but because she thought it was inevitable. Her prize for doing this would be the turkey. She endorses Olivia Rodrigo, because she doesn't really have anything to lose, and when she realizes that she still has a chance for a new career top, she's back at "killing the competition".
Yeah, this is my take also. I expect it won’t be too long before she really does take a step back from the mega spotlight for good. She’ll always be an incredible artist and performer so it absolutely won’t be the end of her musical output by any means, but her priorities will inevitably shift as she gets older. I wonder who the real Tay-daughter will be when that time comes?
@@elizabethg2136 I think at 30, she embraced Olivia Rodrigo as her successor because she thought her time as a main pop girlie was coming to an end and she’d settle down with Joe. Obviously Eras blew up (as did that relationship) and proved that wrong. At 35, she might be feeling that again- that of course she’s going to keep making music, but that might be her last hurrah as a main pop girlie (and might settle down with Travis), so is now passing the torch to Sabrina Carpenter the most out of the Taydaughters that have been opening for her (Gracie Abrams, Maisie Peters, etc.) because that bridge with Olivia was burned (for now; hopefully they’ll make up later but I don’t know how). I kind of feel like WAOLOM might have been partially a response to “the grudge” and other public perceptions of TS in addition to the rest of the complexities of fame.
I saw a TikTok that said “Gracie Abrams they could never make me form an opinion on you” and I COULD NOT AGREE MORE. Fine, some of her songs are good. I’ll bop to them once in a while. Some of them are bad (us.). But realistically I just don’t care about her enough. She’s just really mediocre.
I truly think that Maisie Peters should be consider as an official Taydaughter because her music is soooo old Taylor coded in my opinion. Her songwriting is vindictive in a very humorous way, she's not afraid to speak her trurth and point out the people who hurt her (even scold them just as Taylor has done haha), her lyrics are MESSY and fun and to me she writes as a gen z Taylor. I understand she's not everyones cup of tea because her music really is messy and all over the place and the lyrics are cleaver and ridiculous at the same time but i'm here for it.
YESSSSS. Maisie is the true Taydaughter imo. She captures Taylor's diaristic yet imaginative and metaphorical lyricism so well, and she has that playful sass that really reminds me of Fearless Taylor. I've always felt like it's a bit of a shame that she didn't get to open for Taylor as much as Gracie or Sabrina, because given the opportunity, I feel like she would've also blown up in some capacity.
I happen to love Maisie Peters, but the question whether someone like her or not is not the same as is she a Taydaughter. And she absolutely is. First of all, it's obvious she's a fan, this is enough to be a Taydaughter, but it goes deeper than that. If you listen to her earlier stuff like worst of you or favorite ex, the influence is clear. If you listen to her current stuff, the band and I tries to be long live. And what made her think of Wendy? Maybe cardigan? Maybe it goes unnoticed because she's British and not big enough, but she's definitely Taydaughter, no one can deny that. And Taymother? Lana deserves an honorable mention, if not Taymother than at least TayOlderSister
really liked what you said about gracie abrams. i think most of the points are fair & many gracie stans fail to recognize & acknowledge. she really needs more vocal training, when she tries to project it sounds like she's straining her voice a lot. in fact she had to reschedule some shows because of a vocal injury recently. the point about taylor putting her on aaron dessner though i disagree. gracie was working with aaron prior to knowing taylor, it was aaron that connected them together. i would like to see her go back to working with joe little. her more pop leaning songs off this is what it feels like were produced by him & i think he's able to come up with melodies & production that actually suit her sound.
I think olivia is similar to taylor in aspects but after watching her tour you understand that she's different, and you said in one of your videos that taylor would never admit that shes her daughter, she didnt, but I think the song clara bow was def inspired by the comparisons between olivia and her when she blew up, it made her think about her career because its probs the first time she experienced that kind of comparison taylor also gave her a hand written latter along the ring, who knows maybe she hinted her to not mention her and create her own legacy anyway, im seated to see where both legacies go because its not going to end yet
My thing is that all of these potential taydaughters are in that position thanks to Taylor and their connections to her. Olivia is a taydaughter in spite of them. That is in my opinion pretty much everything you need to know to figure out who is going to be here in a decade having a sold out stadium world tour. Olivia is just an obvious choice, and if Taylor was forced to answer that question and be honest I'm sure she'd say that too. I love her to death, but we all know that what she doesn't do says more than what she does, and her not annointing Olivia but doing so left and right with others speaks volumes

Maisie Peters IS THE TayDaughter, and her voice is part of the reason why. Taylor’s voice was often criticized at the start of her career, especially in live performances. People praise Maisie for her songwriting exactly in the way early Taylor was, and Maisie’s songwriting is a main reason people like her. She has the same cutesy and relatable vibe that early Taylor had. You may not like her and be making fun of her (as Taylor haters did in the beginning), but you cannot deny her objective similarities to Taylor.

Love yall! Would like to throw another TayMother into the ring. This would be for the business moves/music industry influence category: Beyonce. See: How hard Beyonce hustled and was every damn where in her first 15 years of being a star; her move from R&B to broader pop/mass appeal + world super-fame; her dropping an album with no promo on a Friday which changed how albums were dropped (surprise drop + changed the date - it used to be industry standard to drop on Tuesday); and last but not least Her (very selective) Silence. I see a lot of Taylor’s big, bold moves or industry impact decisions and they remind me of Beyoncé’s - and to an extent they exceed them now. Like a true daughter should do!
I really enjoy maisie peters but I hesitate to want to go to a concert because I am also unsure about her vocal capacity. I so want her to work with a vocal coach. I think Olivia is the clear tay daughter though.

I think Maisie is an amazing songwriter with a good stage presence, but I would love it if she would strengthen her vocal capabilities so she could bring her all to her performances. She did post a short comparing her live performance of Love Him I Don't from when it came out to on the Eras Tour, and I saw some improvement

I see Sabrina as a taydaughter in the same way you guys see Madonna as a taymother. The music isn’t super inspired by Taylor but the way she handles her career and business(work ethic) reminds me of Taylor a lot.
Yes I've been waiting for a mention of Gracie's production team choices not serving her interests and areas for growth well. I also think that the theory that Taylor and Olivia discussed taking a step back from their public friendship has merit. Both Gracie and Sabrina have been open about having other famous influences, like Rihanna and Christina Aguilera (for Sabrina) and Phoebe for Gracie, but Olivia put so much focus on Taylor's influence in her early interviews that it was never going to end well
So, i unashamedly listen to almost exclusively Taylor. On my longer road trips was the first time I heard Sabrina’s music, after the entire Taylor playlist has finished and moved onto suggestions. Sue me immediately won me over, I couldn’t believe it was the girl from girl meets world, and I’ve been a huge fan of all of her work since. She stood out as a tay- daughter to me long before Taylor took her on tour and I wholeheartedly believe the Clara bow line was about her. This past year has been my pop dreams come true.

Taydaughterism is very interesting thing to me because it takes so many shapes and forms. Taylor inspired like half of people who debuted in last 10 years, so it´s not surprising. I would say there are 4 categories of Taydaughters: 1) Taysisters: Halsey, Phoebe Bridgers, Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris - Artists too old to be Taydaughters but took some inspiration from her. 2) Business Taydaughters: Camila Cabello & Sabrina Carpenter - Artists who don´t really share much characteristics with Taylor but took inspiration from her to start writing and playing instruments. Taylor later took them under her wing, made them her little sidekicks and tried to make them superstars. 3) Tayderivations: Gracie Abrams, Maisie Peters, Girl In Red, Clairo, Griff, Gayle, (Conan Gray)... - Artists who were strongly influenced by her, but share more characteristics with other artists than her. They also often lack enough substance to one day create legacies of their own. 4) Real Taydaughters: Olivia Rodrigo - Artists who were greatly inspired by Taylor and share many characteristics with her. These are the artists who will carry her torch, create legacies of their own, will greatly influence upcoming artists and one day pass the torch to them. - Say what you want but Olivia is the one and only true Taydaughter. Everything about Olivia is heavily inspired by Taylor: her songwriting, marketing, public persona, demographic audience, legacy... you list it. Olivia to me is love child of Taylor and Avril with little bit of Lorde sprinkled here and there. Olivia is closest to next Taylor Swift you can get. - I also want to say that i don´t believe there is any beef between them. I believe that they are quiet about each other because Olivia wants to build a legacy of her own, she doesn´t want to be next Taylor Swift, she wants to be the first Olivia Rodrigo. It´s basically Ariana/Mariah situation over again. I think in few years we might see them interact bit more when Olivia´s place in music industry is 100% solidified.

I’d say Noah Kahan is a Tayson. He definitely knows how to write something that will strike you to your core and bring up issues You didn’t even realize that you had. i think eventually Tay and Olivia will talk to each other publicly soon, we just have to wait. The tension between them very reminds me of earlier in the carrier of Ariana and Mariah. Then the media and everything compared and pit them agaist each other. the tension was there for a while but then they talk agian. we just have to give them time. Omg I forgot about this and it's the perfect comparison. Like Ariana probably never meant for Mariah to feel those feelings. The media comparison, especially at that point in Mariah's career where she still felt vulnerable/self-conscious of being only known as a Christmas girlie, did not make Mariah warm up to Ariana at all. It's like a cat being cornered. Olivia's big blow up was at a time where Taylor felt like she was being replaced in the pop sphere (hence why she kind of retreated into the folksy folklore vibe).
They can say they're ok with it, but like, would any person (girlie or even man) ever willingly want to give away their crown? Sharing a crown yes. Giving it away? Not really. People have to remember the entertainment industry breeds divas, or at the very least, self-centric forward people. I'm not saying this in a bad way, but when your entire career is made up of yourself, everyone is at least a little bit self-centered.

I think for me, the difference between the two is that Short n Sweet, as much that it's an album for the masses and the general public, the album has Sabrina's personality and it was created based on that personality, while Guts, as much as it has its personality and was also made for the general public, it works more like an album. In the sense that Guts is built as an album in mind so it has diversity, it has ballads, it has the catchy songs. So it's not an album you'd get tired of listening to if the album talked to you. While Short n Sweet is a great, excellent album, but it won't constantly stick with you if you are a person who consumes a lot of music and other artists, because you need to be in tune with Short n Sweet's energy to really enjoy it. But is an album that for me it gets better everytime and it's aging very well.

Before watching the video, my opinions on the Taydaughters:
Olivia is Taylor and Hayley William's love child. Which is why the whole credit thing is so sad with good 4 u and deja vu.
Sabrina is Taylor and Ariana's lovechild. But if we're talking about what type of relationship they have, I'd say it's older sister-younger sister. And they look up to the same artists. Sabrina saw how Taylor grew to this level of fame as she was growing up. She saw HOW to get there. But her initial inspirations were artists who were already on top when she was a child. Same for Taylor. Which is partly the reason why I think they have more of a sibling-type relationship. Idk if I explained it clearly tho.
Gracie is Taylor and Lana's. There's room for improvement

Camilla in the beginning really did try to be a Taylor. It just wasn't working. She also got really lucky where she got her Espresso moment in Havana. Her label then pushed her into that. The problem after was label management. They didn't know what to do with her after those smash singles. Olivia's biggest single was driver's license, followed with really big other singles. She went low and came up with Guts, which was really good.
Camilla and her team floundered. Her racist scandals definitely did not help her trajectory but let's be real. If the music was really that good, people will ignore it. It's par for the course of any artist. Sabrina will be at this fork in the road post-Sweet and Sour era. If she plays her cards right, she cement her name. Otherwise, she'll be just another Camilla. Imo it's not really Taylor, it's the fact that she couldn't capitalize off of what Taylor, only in part, helped give her.

I almost fully believe that Taylor "endorsed" Olivia because she was getting ready to quit. Not in the sense that Taylor wanted to quit, but in Miss Americana she talks about turning thirty, and Lover being her last chance to grasp for a certain kind of success. With this, it makes sense that she would be nicer to Olivia, because she didn't see her as a competitor concidering the fact that she thought her career as a main-pop-girl in the spotlight was coming to an end. This was before the she knew the rerecordings would be so successful, probably before the eras tour was a thought in the making.
I also believe that the turkey had something to do with her making herself ready to slow down (which I am SO glad she didn't). When she talks about her career in the documentary, she is talking about Joe Alwyn as a grounded and kind of force in her life that makes things slow down. I have my own little conspiracy that they broke up, because Taylor wanted to go back into the spotlight when given the chance, and the turkey honestly believed the "crazy" would slow down and they would elope into the mountains and things would be calm. Before the rerecordings, the Folklore-grammy and the opportunities, I think she might have romanticized the slowing-down-mountain life, and that could explain her niceties towards Olivia. Olivia wasn't seen as a competitior, cause Taylor thought she was done competing in that market segment.
I find traces of this in Midnight Rain and Labyrinth, with her imagining how her life could be if she gave into the slow living instead of chasing a new round of success. In Labyrinth it seems like they're coming to some kind of agreement and are willing to try again (I heard the plane was going down, how'd you turn it right around, ohoh I'm falling in love again). Not to mention "The Alcott" which is Labyrinth in another dress. I honestly think that Labyrinth is overlooked, which I understand becuase the elvator lyrics is the worst ever.
TLDR; Taylor was ready to step back, not because she wanted to but because she thought it was inevitable. Her prize for doing this would be the turkey. She endorses Olivia Rodrigo, because she doesn't really have anything to lose, and when she realizes that she still has a chance for a new career top, she's back at "killing the competition".

She’ll always be an incredible artist and performer so it absolutely won’t be the end of her musical output by any means, but her priorities will inevitably shift as she gets older. At 35, she might be feeling that again- that of course she’s going to keep making music, but that might be her last hurrah as a main pop girlie (and might settle down with Travis), so is now passing the torch to Sabrina Carpenter the most out of the Taydaughters that have been opening for her (Gracie Abrams, Maisie Peters, etc.) because that bridge with Olivia was burned (for now; hopefully they’ll make up later but I don’t know how). I kind of feel like WAOLOM might have been partially a response to “the grudge” and other public perceptions of TS in addition to the rest of the complexities of fame.

YESSSSS. Maisie is the true Taydaughter imo. She captures Taylor's diaristic yet imaginative and metaphorical lyricism so well, and she has that playful sass that really reminds me of Fearless Taylor. I think olivia is similar to taylor in aspects but after watching her tour you understand that she's different, and you said in one of your videos that taylor would never admit that shes her daughter, she didnt, but I think the song clara bow was def inspired by the comparisons between olivia and her when she blew up, it made her think about her career because its probs the first time she experienced that kind of comparison

That is in my opinion pretty much everything you need to know to figure out who is going to be here in a decade having a sold out stadium world tour. Maisie Peters IS THE TayDaughter, and her voice is part of the reason why. Taylor’s voice was often criticized at the start of her career, especially in live performances. People praise Maisie for her songwriting exactly in the way early Taylor was, and Maisie’s songwriting is a main reason people like her. She has the same cutesy and relatable vibe that early Taylor had. You may not like her and be making fun of her (as Taylor haters did in the beginning), but you cannot deny her objective similarities to Taylor.

So, i unashamedly listen to almost exclusively Taylor. On my longer road trips was the first time I heard Sabrina’s music, after the entire Taylor playlist has finished and moved onto suggestions. Sue me immediately won me over, I couldn’t believe it was the girl from girl meets world, and I’ve been a huge fan of all of her work since. She stood out as a tay- daughter to me long before Taylor took her on tour and I wholeheartedly believe the Clara bow line was about her. This past year has been my pop dreams come true.

Taydaughterism is very interesting thing to me because it takes so many shapes and forms. Taylor inspired like half of people who debuted in last 10 years, so it´s not surprising. I would say there are 4 categories of Taydaughters:
1) Taysisters: Halsey, Phoebe Bridgers, Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris - Artists too old to be Taydaughters but took some inspiration from her.
2) Business Taydaughters: Camila Cabello & Sabrina Carpenter - Artists who don´t really share much characteristics with Taylor but took inspiration from her to start writing and playing instruments. Taylor later took them under her wing, made them her little sidekicks and tried to make them superstars.
3) Tayderivations: Gracie Abrams, Maisie Peters, Girl In Red, Clairo, Griff, Gayle, (Conan Gray)... - Artists who were strongly influenced by her, but share more characteristics with other artists than her. They also often lack enough substance to one day create legacies of their own.
4) Real Taydaughters: Olivia Rodrigo - Artists who were greatly inspired by Taylor and share many characteristics with her. These are the artists who will carry her torch, create legacies of their own, will greatly influence upcoming artists and one day pass the torch to them.
- Say what you want but Olivia is the one and only true Taydaughter. Everything about Olivia is heavily inspired by Taylor: her songwriting, marketing, public persona, demographic audience, legacy... you list it. Olivia to me is love child of Taylor and Avril with little bit of Lorde sprinkled here and there. Olivia is closest to next Taylor Swift you can get.
- I also want to say that i don´t believe there is any beef between them. I believe that they are quiet about each other because Olivia wants to build a legacy of her own, she doesn´t want to be next Taylor Swift, she wants to be the first Olivia Rodrigo. It´s basically Ariana/Mariah situation over again. I think in few years we might see them interact bit more when Olivia´s place in music industry is 100% solidified.
