While there isn't much story, it seems that the faster pace means the boat is passing the characters before they finish speaking, so the overall plot is less coherent in Disneyland. Hoping they adjust a few of the gated check points to spread the waiting and pauses out across the ride instead of having a bunch of boats stuck at the big drop.
That’s the weird thing, though, I like both of them pretty equally. I like the fast pace and I know people are not a fan of the dead space, I feel like people forget that splash Mountain. Also I did space. But besides that point, sometimes it just like a longer ride and it kind of gives you the feeling that you’re going down the Bayou, which is nice, which is nice. I like both, but I feel like Disneyland does a better job at spreading things out
The east coast is far away. :) regardless of the story I fully embrace Disney loosing a little bit of the nostalgia with an IP that can build nostalgia with a new generation.
Disneyland works a lot better for reasons outside of the ride itself. Because Disneyland has New Orleans square, with Tiana's Palace and Tiana being a regular walk around character the plot of her basically going into the Bayou/critter country to play at a party works so well here. It makes it feel like Tiana is actually living at the park in New Orleans. Unfortunately Florida is not going to have that.
Honestly most ppl like the fast pace and quick timing of the Disneyland one but I actually enjoy the the wdw version is a bit slower with some clear spaces bc sometimes I get overwhelmed on rides and miss so many things
I love how Disneyworld doesnt try to make the ride all New Orleans. In world the music for New Orleans is less calmer while in land it has more trumpets. Then for the dailouge in land is way more then world. Tiana and Louis has more action of sound on the exterior part. The pacing in land works perfectly! Not one empty part to dwell on for 10 seconds! World however um... maybe put gators dancing along or something to fill the gaps. Land has WAY MORE lighting then world. I love how land managed to make it look darker at day. However in world...riding today i saw a huge difference that didnt feel as beutiful as land. 3:00 THOSE DOORS EVEN HAVE MORE EFFORT IN LAND I believe since Splash Mountain started in Disneyland it was ment to be better there.
I am not an imagineer, but I think the retheme suffer from two issues. 1. Forcing the same storyline on two different rides. The Disneyland feels a tiny bit too fast but it is still somewhat fine. The world version has too much empty space and has pacing issues. 2. It is a log flume ride. What differentiates a log flume from other waterrides? The drops. The area before the drop should build up anticipation. A sense of danger. The guests need to prepare themself for the drops. Also the area after the drop should signal that the immediate danger is over and that the guest can relax again. The storyline feels to sanitized for a thrillride. A ride with a height requirement can have a more interesting story.
It’s hard to tell but Magic Kingdom version technically is longer and has one more drop than Disneyland. Magic Kingdom’s ride is definitely a little longer than Disneylands. And to be honest, having a sense of danger is not always needed and Disney has proven that with other rides. That was the splash mountain formula because it worked for that story. But setting up danger before a thrill moment is not always needed. I get splash did it so a lot of people expect it. If that’s what you prefer then cool. Not saying what you are saying is wrong or bad. It’s your opinion.
@@a_rayofentertainment I just checked the track lengt to confirmed. Disneyland has a track length is 2682.. while magic Kingdom is 792 meters which is less
The only difference is that Disneylands is a faster, more wild ride. WDW is more chill... but that was the same difference between the two splash mountains so nothings changed.
WDW got a better exterior and cue, DL got a better ride. I prefer how Disneyland's color scheme seems a bit more realistic. The WDW seems really just kinda... orange? Like the rocks are all over, making it just seem a little too over-saturated. Might be the camera, but I don't think it is. Especially given that when you have side by side scenes like 5:18 the colors suddenly look identical.
In defense of Magic Kingdom, the pacing issue and "empty spaces" of the MK version is diminished when you are actually on the ride vs watching a youtube video. It is really enchanting to have time to soak in the music, the bayou atmoshphere, the smells, and the lighting in the Magic Kingdom's version. Reminiscent of Na'vi River Journey at times. Also the shrinking effect and room are definitely superior on the MK version. Add to that you can go on multiple times a day and do not have to deal with getting a bucket of water poured on you.
The Disney world one looks so much better! The one at California is so fast you can barely see what is happening and it’s so dark in there, splash was really bright, the one in Florida looks way brighter inside and you’re slow enough to see what is happening!
Disneyland’s feels better paced, but they are both objectively bad. Tiana and the whole Princess and the Frog lineup deserved better than this phoned in attraction. It’s like the imagineers didn’t understand what made the movie special.
