Castlevania: The Complete History is a 2 part retro gaming documentary series discussing every single game based within the world of Akumajō Dracula
In this episode, we will be looking at everything Castlevania that came in AFTER the 16-bit generation (those being Bloodlines and Super Castlevania 4 on the Genesis and Super Nintendo) with a heavy focus on the incredible Playstation 1 game Symphony of the Night (SOTN)
Why did these games get made, how did these get made and who made them... well, actually we all know that it was mostly Koji Igarashi from this point on... but of course, we go a lot deeper than that!
On top of that, expect to hear about the Gameboy and Famicom spin-off Kid Dracula as well as the arcade game, the super strange pachinko machines, and let's not forget the often overlooked Wii Title Castlevania: Judgement!
The strange world of Castlevania mobile ports will also be brought up including Konami s many puzzle games and Grimoire of Souls too, the surprisingly fun Lords of Shadow games for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and NO... NOT THE 3DS!!!!... I mean.... we mention it, but it's still not very good lol
Of course, a massive section of the video is focused on the excellent game Game Boy Advance Castlevania titles including Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, and Aria of Sorrow
The same amount of love and respect needs to be given to the Nintendo DS games Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia... that game is sooooo good!
And then of course you have the ups n downs that can be found on the Playstation 2 (PS2) and Nintendo 64 (N64) with games such as Curse of Darkness, Lament of Innocence, Legacy of Darkness, and the self-titled game too (that also includes the Game Boy Game also known as Castlevania Legends (such a confusing series lol)
And don't worry, we do not forget about the Netflix show either! nor do we forget about the XBOX 360 game Harmony of despair
All of this and more in Castlevania: The Complete History (Part 2) | RETRO GAMING DOCUMENTARY

One of the most comprehensive documentary series on Castlevania. Well done man. Thank you for it 🙏
@My Retro Life, PatmanQC did a pretty good job on the game on his channel as well.
@@paxhumana2015 His was good but he missed out on a couple of games.
@@dadeleemurphy85 I have. That’s a timeline series going over the lore and not reviewing / talking about the history of the games (rather it talks about the history of the Castlevania story) Slopes is definitely more to my liking
@@sprnightfire , but his videos, as well as the two that Slope has done on the topic, cover the entirety of the franchise far better than anyone else has online.
Lol it’s okay he just needs to remove all the filler, wayy to often did things go off course and just random opinions and tangents when this should literally be a non biased and accurate informative look at the series, if there was gonna be a lot of personal opinions than it shouldn’t be listed and titled a castlevania history/retrospective
I let someone borrow my original copy of SOTN and never got it back. I'm still bitter
as u should be
Me too, my cousin 😡
Someone took my Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness Smashing Pumpkins double CD in 1998 and I took it back in 2017 ! Never loose hope, go get it back.
Same. I still have the case. But the disc is gone
That’ll learn ya
1:15 "Starting its life on the Famicom back in 1999"
That would have been an interesting time for Konami to be making Famicom games, especially with its time traveling sequel.
I owned Symphony of the Night black label when i originally purchased it back in high school
in 1999. I absolutely loved it and never knew about the 2 castles until a friend pointed it out. I've played the game about 3 times over throughout the years and it definitely sticks as one of the greatest of all time for me.
This is is probably the best Castlevania retrospect I've ever seen on the internets.
Well done.
Hot dang, a Planet Zebeth Kraid?
Seriously? It's good but he omits so much information (like how/why C64 was split and the differences in the games) and even bitches about Circle of The Moon being called just "Castlevania" when it was called CoTM in most regions besides his.
Also thinking COTM was the best looking game at the time on the GBA is crazy as it was shat on for being too dark (something that led to the bight colors of HOD) and Rayman Advanced came out at the same time.
@@ZigealFaust I do not care.
@@Voultar Of course you don't. People who say bold statements never care when you point out why they are wrong lol.
@@ZigealFaust Imagine arguing with someone over something as subjective as their opinion over a UA-cam video and then asserting to them that they're wrong.
Go outside, touch grass. Read a book, even.
SOTN is bloody amazing. Then and now, all the same. Nice cameo by Whang! by the way ^_^
We need it ported to the Switch. I have it on the PS Vita (PS1 version from the digital store) but just imagine playing this game portable on the Switch, this must happen !!!
@@leecroft7311 I wouldn't mind a remake. There is only one issue I have with the game, which is the afterimages that appear whenever you start moving or change direction. But imagine the same game with full 3D graphics but the same layout, enemies, and story - with the 2D pixel graphics, completely unchanged, as an option.
I should mention that it's available on Android and iPhone for only 3 dollars, and is compatible with Bluetooth game controllers, so it can be played portably for cheap. Whether or not you want to play it on your phone is another issue.
@@OtakuUnitedStudio Dude, Rondo of Blood remake on ps4. That's exactly what you're asking for.
But, to be honest, the saturn version is where it's at, Nocturne in the Moonlight.
Get an iso and emulate it using SSF alpha.
Maria's overpowered version on saturn is WAAAAY different than the PSP remake and subsequent ports.
Hell, just the speed boots which allow Alucard to run like Richter make it better.
No graphics slowdown if emulated on any computer with hardware better than a potato.
Well, that Nintendo Vs Sony article was right in one regard, there really was no comparison.
It actually annoyed me how smarmy and smart ass-ish it was! SOTN still looks beautiful and hasn’t aged much at all, but mid to late 90’s 3D games just look awful now, for the most part.
It's amazing how wrong the dude in the article was.
@@oldschoolm8 True some games of the N64 era hasn't aged well. Since this was the early era of 3D games. It was uncharted territory for many game developers before they finally refined it to what modern games are now.
Though some N64 games remain major classics of this 90s game console. Like Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Star Fox 64, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and many other games of my and other childhood in the 90s and early 2000s.
@@RedWolf777SG Even those games haven't exactly aged well. The basically unchanged port of Super Mario 64 in the Super Mario 3D All Stars pack shows this painfully well. Especially when compared to the likes of the updated and imporved 3DS ports of Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Star Fox 64. Mario Kart 64 simply doesn't stand up to later entries. Especially Mario Kart DS, Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 7, and especially Mario Kart 8. I think it's time to take the nostalgia glasses off. You can still love the games, but let's be honest here. Early 3D has aged like milk, even the almost timeless Half-Life hasn't aged great. 2D though tends to age much better, which is why SOTN is a truly timeless classic of a game.
Aria of Sorrow is so underrated. Definitely one of my favorite Castlevania games
I always get stuck in the first 30 minutes then get bored and start playing Metroid Zero Mission.
I think Aria actually has a better designed castle and skill system than SOTN. The problem is that it came out for GBA and so its presentation can't compete with SOTN, and presentation is such a big part of what makes SOTN memorable.
Arguably the best GBA one, but I still prefer the challenge of Circle of the Moon.
Super CV, SOTN, Aria and Dawn are listed in 1001 games you must play book.
I'm glad Bloodstained was mentioned, as a spiritual successor I definitely feel like it has a spot in such an extensive documentary. This was awesome, I started with Aria of Sorrow as a kid and my love for the series grew from there, I actually just beat Circle of the Moon for the first time last night. I didn't realize there were so many different versions and games I didn't even know about.
what I find ironic is Castlevania legend was removed from the timeline because it turned Trevor Belmont into what was effectively Luke Skywalker. ironically that's what the Belmonts became in the in the Castlevania Lords of Shadow games.
Castlevania Circle of the Moon was my very first Castlevania game. And I still have my original copy that I got as a gift!
I remember getting Symphony of the Night for Xmas in ‘97. I was just about to turn 16 and was battling a crazy rare illness and spent a good part of that December in the hospital. But luckily I spent it with my PlayStation SotN. Great memories of that game. And I’ve still got it!
Looking forward to Pilotwings. Keep up the good work fella and stay safe.
Cheers buddy
SOTN was the first Castlevania game I really enjoyed. I missed the Nintendo entries, enjoyed Bloodlines with my buddy, but SOTN I picked up and never looked back.
Am I bugging or did my homie say Kid Dracula on the Famicom came out in 1999 at @1:18 in? I'm confused. Now back to watching :D
yea i noticed that too. maybe he meant 1989.
This chapter definitely has ups and downs. But the evolution was a fun ride. Just bites so many mobile games and pachinko. Hopefully we will have a new game on current platforms someday.
Bloodstained however is awesome. So is the animated series (love it!!)
Plus the crossover with Smash Ultimate, it is unreal. Feels like a crazy dream.
Castlevania lives on
Mobile games don't have to be a bad thing.
It's too bad that they all were.
Symphony of the Night was my first Castlevania game ever when I discovered it in 1998 after PSM praised it to death putting it even higher than Final Fantasy VII. (For the time that really meant something.)
My love for the series was furthered cemented when the GBA came out and I immediately picked up Circle of the Moon. I then bought old consoles like NES and SNES to experience the Castlevania games I missed out on and am still a huge fan of the original series to this day!
:o You didn't mention Yuzo Koshiro composed on Portrait Of Ruin! I'm surprised you missed that.
Kinda disappointed he didn't mention it either. He never usually misses a chance to talk about Yuzo Koshiro.
@@NipplesTheEnchilada2323 I really thought he was leading into it with that Axel and Blaze comment. Ah well.
Although he keeps hyping up the music... he really doesn't say much about the music's compositions or why the rock so hard.
You never did tell us how much that full Castlevania collection was worth that you were borrowing as you told us you would in Part 1.
yeah he got me too. I really wanted to know
I came here to say the same :D I really wanted to know.
@@Lunatix246 lm
Well after he opened the lot of it I'm not surprised 😂 Still can't beileve he did it when it wasn't his.
What bs why would you say that and then leave everyone hanging? Waste of time
Really great documentary on one of my favorite game series of all time. I still have my PS1 copy of Castlevania Sympathy of the Night signed by Koji Igarashi.
Symphony
Also, I really loved the touchscreen gimmick of Dawn of Sorrow. Memorizing the boss' seal and performing it on the spot was a great addition to the style (it was also my first Castlevania... so.)
Fun fact: Kid dracula actually has major ties to the castlevania fighting game: Castlevania Judgement. Time reaper, whos basically death but for the new villian (who was actually a secret boss in SotN) is sent back in time to screw with time in an attempt to dethrone kid dracula. He's the main villian in Castlevania judgement, meaning one of the edgiest looking castlevania games happens because the most kid friendly ones
But can you play as Kid Dracula in Castlevania Judgement ?
@@Gatorade69 nah. You can play as normal dracula but not kid dracula
The unboxings in this video are truly satisfying.

Kid Dracula was great. Loved the Gameboy version. Just a simple fun little game, perfect for a handheld.
26:01 I coul'd gladly watch a twelve hours uninterrupted documentary about this woman!!! Hope she stick around in the industry, doing incredible music.
My older brother was one of the few Americans to buy SOTN on PS1 when it was new and I honestly didn’t know it did so poorly here at first. It’s a masterpiece that should be displayed in the Louvre.
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia was the first Castlevania game I ever played!!!
"Yes, ALL of us."
[Sadly holds Cute Dracula plushie]
SOTN is the first ARPG in my opinion. Back when it came out, RPG's were turn based, had HP, a leveling system and attributes (dex, str, etcetera). Action games had life bars, leveling systems and very minimal stats but had more moment-to-moment movements and attacks. Period. That was the lay of the land.
SOTN was the first game that really did it all. It was an action game that incorporated attributes, a numbered leveling sytem and all the exploration of an RPG. It ALSO was one of the first games, that I'm aware of, that included an RNG loot system (Diablo was also released in 1997). On top of all of that, they added Street Fighter-style controller motions to cast spells.
All of these mechanics are super common now but, in 1997, they were each unique to specific games or genres. To see them all come together in one game was overwhelming and unforgettable.
There were plenty of action RPGs before SOTN. And the vast majority of action games did not have leveling systems in those days. SOTN was interesting because it shifted Castlevania away from the linear platforming style and towards Metroid style non linear exploration. It was indeed a jack of a trades sort of deal that also had RPG-like skill progression, but it's not the first ARPG by a long shot. Not even the first one with leveling or attributes (I don't know if it's the first, but Zelda 2 did those way back in 1987, ten years before SOTN). As for the loot, it's not different from most JRPGs, where enemies can drop normal items or rare items. You have different odds of getting different items but what those items are is predetermined. Crissaegrim is Crissaegrim. There's no legendary Crissaegrim or Crissaegrim +1.
@@megavolt67 When we played Zelda 2 and Metroid back in the 80s, they were action games. Final Fantasy and Dragons Quest were RPG'S. That's how it was. If you tried to argue that it was an RPG, you'd get laughed off the playground.
We can retroactively determine that Zelda 2 was an ARPG because it has an experience point system but its other RPG elements, such as its 3 attributes, were too lacking at the time for anyone to confuse it with an RPG. I'm not sure what other games can compare. You mentioned plenty but I can't think of any.
SOTN was the 1st game to blend the 2 in such a way that people didn't know if they should call it an action game or an RPG. It's the 1st game that I remember being called an ARPG when it was released.
Yes, different odds of getting different things as drops is RNG. There is no plus 1 or legendary requirement for a Random Number Generator to do its thing. Those are some implementations that have evolved over time, sure, but the ability to have equipment drop randomly from defeated enemies was a very new mechanic and one that is super common in the genre today.
40:24 “For the final 2D Castlevania game for a handheld”
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate:: “Ahem”
Well done. I was really entertained through out both parts and it was a pleasure to hear my Portrait of Ruin track in the background. Kudos for these excellent videos 😃👍
This is the BEST comprehensive Castlevania Documentary EVER‼️
Part 1 & 2 should be endorsed by Konami
I rarely buy any digital games, but I downloaded Symphony Of The Night while watching this. I’m looking forward to it...
Koji Igarashi received all the fame for Symphony of the night but his role was more like Aonuma in Ocarina of time.
The main ditector of SOTN was not him but Toru Hagihara ,who also directed Belmont's revenge and Rondo of blood.
Igarashi was at least assistant director on SOTN, as well as the lead Scenario Writer and oversaw the level design of the game. Obviously Hagihara deserves at least as much credit for the story, characters, and overall design of the game, though. Though on that note, in most of the other Castlevania Iga was much like Miyamoto in Mario and Zelda games after 1997 - Producer, with mainly an advisory role rather than actually calling the shots.
Great to get the anticipated part 2. I know lot of people have been waiting for this after the first one.
Its absolutely terrifying how the theme for Richters stage of SoTN STILL sends chills all over my body 24 years and dozens of playthroughs later
"Takamiko memorial"
"Koji Igurushi"
It's Tokimeki Memorial, this dude is seriously not even trying with the japanese names lmao
"Akumujo Dracula" :D
Also didn't try with the musical terms like Aria and Concerto. But to be fair, most UA-camrs have the grammar skills of a primary school child.
@@personavisceration371 I'm baffled whenever people talk about the pantheon of the Zelda games. Most of them can't say Farore (Fah-ro-ray) anywhere close to correctly (Fay-Ror), and the one time someone did, they got Nayru (Nay-rue) wrong instead (Nye-ruh). I blame Mortal Kombat, which has intentionally mispronounced names all over the place (Raiden, for example).
@@OtakuUnitedStudio as an MK fan, I wouldn't blame it entirely on it, but it does have some. I still can't accept Scorpion's pronounciation of Shirai Ryu (She-ry Ree-you) on a few games (She-ry Ry-you)
Yeah, I wasn't sure if that was a UK pronunciation, it bugged me as well.
My top 3 all-time favorite Castlevania games are Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood. And the fourth choice would be the original Castlevania and then Super Castlevania IV. Hands down my favorite franchise and one that brings back tons of memories. My earliest one getting Simon’s Quest at Toys ‘R US back in the late 80’s. And speaking of Toys ‘R US, I used to love going there to the game section back in the NES days with my parents. As we’d usually always leave with at least one game. As my dad’s a huge video game fan. Anyways, great 2 part series on Castlevania.
Thank you for not diving too much into Netflix's adaptation.
Your handling of rare discs was enough to make me wince.
In the last video he opened sealed copies of Bloodlines and other games, many winces
@@handlesarestupid154 He was told to open them.
SOTN is the Greatest Castlevania game ever! Bloodstained: ROTN is an incredible follow-up.
I think Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia all surpass Symphony of the Night. Not just because of the gimmicks either. The biggest factor? All of SOTN's fundamentals are there, but you can actually hit enemies that are above you! Seriously, that's such a small thing and it makes such an absurdly huge improvement in quality of life.
Huzzah to the Erin Plays intro! Dig it!
Never clicked a video as fast as this one
Ironically, Legacy of Darkness actually does refer the first N64 Castlevania as Castlevania 64.
hey man i love your content you really get me through some dark days!
10:58
>Talks about Simon´s Quest
>Shows Belmont's revenge
I don't care if it was a mistake, I think this is funny as hell
Woah, is that Whang voicing Iga?! Perfect casting!
Whang as Iga-san is such a good touch.
Castlevania 64 isn't a bad game. It was the first Castlevania I ever played. And yes. As a Castlevania game and im sure as someone who grew up in the 80s and 90s that game doesn't represent what Castlevania is at all and I completely agree. But as a game I think its an alright one if only it didn't have the Castlevania name attached. If it weren't for the day my neighbor came and said "hey tate wanna play some Castlevania" I might not know anything about this series as I do now. It's such a mystifying name it draws you in with that mystery and suspense.
I've been a die hard fan of the series since I got the original in 1987 and I can tell you this documentary is very accurate. I did cringe a little while watching the opening of sealed games since there are only a finite number of those still around. I would like to contribute a couple of of fun facts: 1. Although the name "Castlevania" was first used as a title in Japan for Harmony of Dissonance, it was actually used before that in the Akumajo Dracula Sharp X68000 game's user manual. In the middle of the manual it refers to it as "Castle Vania". 2. The photo used on the cover of Symphony of the Night is a picuture of the Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey in France.
I remember passing up on a PAL SOTN in my local Gamestation for £5 back in the day 😂. I rarely made many errors in judgement when amassing my collection but that was definitely one of them!
I remember doing something similar back then too.... can't remember the shop, but I loved the cover artwork style, but saw the 2D screenshots on the back and was disappointed that it wasn't true 3D...!! Idiot that I was....! :-D
No problem though, I can always get a copy now for a mere £200 +...!! NOT!
Someone did their homework...as always. Thank you good sir! I know this took a massive amount of time!
Whats up With Justin Whang as the text NARRATOR? Thats really cool you kats co-lab together! I love both of your channels so much! I love the youtube community!
Lament of Innocence was an absolute gem that I value so much more than SOTN. It does not get enough credit and I looked up to Leon so much as a kid, highly recommend playing it if you haven’t!
This is the best complete history of Konami's Castlevania series in every games in different game consoles. great video man.😉👍
Castlevania HD became one of my favorite games 10 years ago...and i STILL find myself going back to it regularly. Glad it still has a userbase thanks to being BC now.
I think I'm going to pick it up, even though there probably aren't a lot of people playing it right now.
Those N64 castlvanias were kind of a pain in the ass but there was some seriously awesome atmosphere here and there. Still love that mansion with the hedgemaze.
Plus it had skeletons shooting machine guns at you while riding in a motorcycle sidecar being drove by another skeleton.
I agree, I'm a huge fan of the series from the start, and even though it isn't a hill I'm going to die on, I think there's a lot more quality content in that game (I actually have never played LoD for whatever reason, but I played the hell out of the original when it came out) than it is given credit for. The diversity of levels, and as you say, the atmosphere is really kind of special once you get past the first areas and into the castle, the rose garden and the npcs and the curtains blowing from the stormy weather outside... it feels way more like Castlevania in 3D than Lords of Shadow did. And I like LoS as a top-tier God of War clone... but CV64 (and LoD) is the only real 3D Castlevania.
The sound was quite good and the art is muddy but it lends to the dark, foggy atmosphere more than it takes away. The wonky camera is my only big complaint. It’s a pretty good game.
I completely agree SOTN is by far the best game of all castlevanias and the music OMG amazing!!!
SOTN is my ABSOLUTE favorite.
My Symphony of the Night story/discovery.
Around 2014 I pulled my old dusty Xbox360 out of a box with the intent to sell it as I hadn't touched it in probably 5 or 6 years at that point. I was stacking up all the old games and guessing how many pennies GameStop would buy them for, and I found Komani Classics Vol.1.
I had never seen or heard of this in my life and had no idea where I got it from but saw some castlevania game on the front that I had also never heard of (Symphony of the Night). I thought I'd give it a shot for a few minutes before I went to the store and about a month later I was still trying 100% (200.6%) the game without any help (well as little help as possible lol).
I had never heard of the game and it turned out to be one of my favorites of all time. Truly hidden gem for me!
This is so intelligently presented in most every way possible, that I have to believe the severe mispronunciations of “Koji Igarashi’s” name and “Tokimeki Memorial” are comedic trolling. Which is okay, I guess. Someone please tell me that is the case.
@03:18 Created by the legendary "Koji IgarUshi" :D
I never could play the DLC of Lords of Shadow. I had totally forgotten the controls and got beaten up by the first monster. So I gave up and never looked back.
I see that Kid Dracula has been able to stay in Super Saiyan form for long periods of time. He too must have trained in the hyperbolic time chamber
Great job! You only missed covering the cancelled Castlevania Resurrection for the Sega Dreamcast as well as the 2 other Bloodstained titles from Iga.
I like these retrospectives normally, but you've really outdone yourself this time!
I was lucky to buy a used copy of Symphony of the Night in 2002 for 14 bucks. And I still have it!
Castlevania Lords of Shadow is really a fun good game. Tons of fun and still looks and plays well to this day.
Awesome job with this Retrospective. The GBA Double Pak at 27:47 was my introduction to the series and it ended up becoming one of my favourite videogame franchises. Its hard to say what my favourite ones are but i would say Super Castlevania IV and maybe Aria of Sorrow (I also have a bit of a guilty pleasure with the LOS trilogy). I have also wondered if you ever saw the web animated parody series 'Castlevania in Brief' by Frobman/AE Double where I voice a few characters like Simon, Death & Dracula.
51:01 "It's time to take that absurdly complicated story that's been building up over the last 20-plus years, a story that IGA himself has personally approved to be a part of the original Castlevania canon or not with every single release... And bury it deep."
Sadly, this could be said of a lot of great franchises that continue on long after the original team has all left. "What? There's a story? Bugger that, time for a reboot remade in MY way. No one cares if the older generation likes it, I'm here to cater to the young and the hip. Wait.. What's with this retro revival.. Why are the younger and hipper people playing the older games? No, you should play my new fresh version!"
There’s a arcade in Brookfield Illinois called “The Galloping Ghost” that has the Castlevania Arcade from Japan. I’ve played it and it wasn’t anything to special but still a decent game to check out if ever given the chance.
Excellent couple of videos. Thanks for making them!!!
For some truly exceptional 3d castlevanias I would recommend the dark souls series.
A little late to the party but its the wrong Castlevania 2 logo at 10:57
Holy Balls! I just realized its Whang! doing the voiceover for Iga and had to check the summary to be sure. Right on!
1:00:34 “The show aired in 2017 and is now well into its third season, with hopefully plenty more to come.”
April 16, 2021: It gets announced that Castlevania’s 4th season will be its final one
Oof, you jinxed it
I think Judgment would have been much better received if not for the baffling uber-anime-nearly-to-the-point-of-parody art style.
I'd love to see a retrospective on the Silent Hill franchise.
Appreciate all the work and effort it took to put this together. I love Castlevania. Ive played so many hours of Castlevania! So many good games to catch up on and experience!!
I finally got Bloodstained Ritual yesterday since it actually works on Switch now and was going to play it today since I'm off work, but I can wait an hour and enjoy this first :D
Btw there was an update on all platforms, that utilizes a classic game mode. Old school difficulty, within the game engine.
Great doc from the point of view of a lover of the series. Bloodstained is epic, by the way.
Very good overview of the entire series. Playing through the early games currently and never knew so many had been made!
Glad you liked it. BTW check your Facebook or twitter inbox I asked for permission for a track of yours in a video
As a retro Metroidvania fan I actually loved Lords of Shadow and even the sequel. The whole aspect of telling the story from Draculas point of view was a nice twist. Kind of like the original Darksiders.
I'm glad the "retro" Metroidvania genre is still very much alive.
That being said. Where is that Metroid Prime 4? :P
Never played Castlevania 64, but the footage is giving me flashbacks to King's Quest: Mask of Eternity, which I tried to convince myself I liked for several months after it was first released.
Got my sub with this series! Awesome docu-series on one of my all time favorite franchises!
I love this, please do Dragonquest
I think it would be amazing if someone could port the extra content from the Saturn SotN to the PS1 version! I would pay good money for that.
While it didn't last long, for obvious legal reasons, I saw an indie dev remaking the original Castlevania in Unreal a few years ago. It was a little stiff, likely to match the original game's movement, but looked pretty awesome. Would love to have seen it completed.
Symphony of then Night is easily the best caatelvania of all time, not competition. This video was awesome!
Except for the fact that Symphony and the DS games weren't as great as people claim...They however did start the trend of having absolutely no difficulty whatsoever
This is one of my favorite of your complete history series, great job!
Koji IgarAshi... not IgarUshi !!
I know, it hurts my soul as well. What's so hard with English speakers and Japanese names?
I belive the original castlevania for the nes was among the first games that introduced me to the video games.
>A couple of forgettable titles
>Rakuga Kids
Gonna need you to take that back, man.
I came to the comments to say this very thing.
You can also play Castlevania Symphony Of The Night on PS4 through Castlevania Requiem which also has Rondo Of Blood‼️
I got the Collector’s Edition through Limited Run Games😊
I bought the classic edition
Kid Dracula was awesome, I think the instruction manual said he IS Alucard.
Some kid in my class owned the lcd watch. I wasn't familiar with the games until I picked up Portrait of ruin.
Man this was an awesome trip through my childhood/teens and 20s thanks for this!
I wish there was more on the story of the series. Which I thought this was going to be when started watching. But it was still very well done and kept my attention for both parts. Good stuff.
