I am a professional videographer that does a lot of wedding couples love stories and bridal shoots at the statehouse. Can I use some of your drone footage? You did it at the perfect time, the park officers would not allow me to launch my drone. This is truly quality footage man! Anthony Davis - Help yourself, Anthony. I had only been playing around with my DJI for about 2 months at this time. I've since bought some filters. It's difficult to video all sides of a building like this because the light saturates half of your angles. I should have concentrated on 1 view at a time, but battery life is another variable.

Thanks Christian! Trust me, I know how you feel because light is more of a struggle in videography than photography. You really did an excellent job. I have a DJI Phantom 3 professional that I only deploy for a few minutes at a time depending on the shoot. I may look into some filters as well.
Mr. Jones did you get hassled by any police/security in the course of getting these great shots?
FreeLance Journalism Society - Thanks for the kind words. I did not see any security this day. I took this video on Thanksgiving morning on the way to visit my folks. The FAA has since released 107 and the City of Columbia, County of Richland, or State of South Carolina could have since enacted more strict laws... I'm not sure. This is public land and there were zero people around.
That's good to hear, folks are much more welcoming in SC than up here in PA and perhaps not as likely to get all excited over a respectable drone flyer who has no ill-intent. I lived in Columbia after college for a short while and what i miss most is the easy-going nature of folks in the Palmetto State.

Great video. I have a question for you. Tonight I was flying my drone at the state house when a security guard approached me and told me that drones were illegal on state grounds. But I cannot find anything about it online. Is it true? If not, any advice on handling the situation next time?
Not sure. I did this flight on Thanksgiving morning, so maybe there just wasn't a big police presence at that time. I think I was following the FAA guidelines for recreational drone use, but there are some grey areas. Also, South Carolina, Richland County, or the City of Columbia could have enacted a more restrictive law of which I'm unaware. You should ask the officer what specific law you're breaking and have a list of these FAA guidelines with you. knowbeforeyoufly.org/for-recreational-users/
