I hope in 11th edition they make Psychic Shenanigans more interesting, as a Thousand Sons fan Psychic stuff mostly feels like any other datasheet ability just with another word attached. Only the TSons Cabal of Sorcerers feels like anything special.
I only just started to learn about playing the game at the tail end of 9th. Was planning to play grey knights or Harlequins. 10th kinda messed em both up. I still wound up getting my first Harlequins about a month ago. The fundamental idea of Grey Knights is simply not present anymore. At least TSons get a rule that represents psychic powers somewhat. The Grey Knights get a teleport, the Psyker keyword, and that’s basically it.
ah the eternal GW cycle of "psychic is too complex and time heavy -> reduce complexity until it's basically just a different type of gun -> psychic is too vanilla and boring -> make it more complex" rinse repeat.
Judging from last time it's 12th Edition we have to wait for but they wont actually be really flavourful until 13th Edition only to be neutered again in 15th or 16 because it's scaring and confusing Little Timmy and the WAAC Powergamer Dudebros..
Anyone else lowkey miss the pychic phase or just having spells and rolling dice to cast? I shelved most of my psykers in my armies since 10th and I only get real “psychic” when i play as Thousand sons.
They should just change it "Powers Phase" with Psykers casting spells, Chaplains reciting battle litanies, Captains throwing down orbital bombardments, SoB throwing out miracles, Necrons doing sci-fantasy BS
Yes not having options sucks and if your psyker has a bad datasheet you just dont use them instead of having a table of powers to draw from so you have at least ONE useful power.
"Chielf Librarian Tigurius" I know it's probably just a typo... but I'd like to think its a reference to how the Ultramarines used to have a Half-Eldar Librarian.
I love my Grey Knights Librarian so much, I made an entire list that's named "Vortex Has Failed Me." In all actuality though, I see the use of the guy, but jeez man, the amount of times my Librarian has failed me...
I'm psyched to see how mine lands for this list; I do love my Admech. ... Oh ... Well, there's always Age of Sigmar! I can get out my Kharadron Overlords!
There’s not really psykers in 10th edition. Some weapons get the “psychic” ability which does nothing except let some units get a fnp aginst it so it’s really a mild nerf
I’m fairly certain space marine librarians only having D6 attacks with overcast smite compared to D6+3 for guard psykers is just a typo no one has fixed yet.
I like how GW got rid of the psychic phase but the one thing I’m not a big fan of with their early adoption of this philosophy of being a simple game but not simple meant that taking librarians or other speakers and taking away their choice of picking a psychic ability from a list that often varied depending on the chapter or sub satisfaction and giving them psychic attack based on simply the model chosen is a big letdown. lately I’ve been looking over the rules for age of Sigmar and the new fourth edition rules allow your wizard to choose to cast one to three different wizard spells and they’ve also added priests that have their own list and casting mechanic and it does not seem to make the game anymore complicated, they even have a summoning system where your wizard can opt to choose the cast a manifestation instead of a wizard spell which is physically represented by a model. It vaguely feels like the 40 K design team simply didn’t want to re-create a list of six different psychic abilities, so by giving them only access to one depending on the model type which I use as an example because in space marines, there are several different librarian, models, and the spell will vary, depending on which model you added to your list
16:33 Know its subjective but disagree as many times now ran the sorcerer in terminator armor and having extra ap against one unit within 12 AND reroll charge and advance roles is immensely worth the price. Combi bolters becoming ap 1 with as many shots as they get along with reroll hits is pretty strong and the lord is medicore at best
First, where's that ethereal looking model from? I'd love to get one for my friend. Second, while I know people don't typically think CSM psykers are great, I've had immense luck running my sorcerer in the Dread Talons detachment. Just him and a 10-man squad of melee legionnaires can throw out some serious damage
Worth calling out that nothing prohibits Templars from taking an Imperial Agent who is a psyker. I did this a lot in 9th for the fun of it when warp ritual was a nice easy secondary to score
Great video. I really appreciate what you do. Can't say the same about baron of dice sadly. Imo bad choice of advertisement company. The amount of money, minimum buying and wild different pricing for faction specific dice is more than I could handle. Cheers.
Astra Militarum psyker only 7/10?! With scions after disembarking from taurox prime get full hit and full wound reroll with sustained hit 1.... insane damage with his powerful psyhic attack Of course, his ability is not weak either (4+ invu for the squad)
I’m sorry, but does this game only play as a list build and perks for dice rolls??? Can you not protect one unit with another? Can you try to do something that your opponent doesn’t see from the army you brought ? Every wargame I play we make the board as big as possible and don’t play with limited turns.
The CSM Master of Possession also sort of lost the anti-psyker 2+ Devastating attacks when shooting when joining Possessed effectively speaking. It was nice against Hive Tyrants etc.
Yea, butchering psychic phase for no reason at all still feels kinda bad. Sucks for me who started 9th with eldar and tsons as I wanted to play psychic factions... At least give some sort of customization? Like 2 psychic abilities (perhaps 1 "i cast gun" and 1 utility") for all psychers so there is at least a tiny bit of customizability? I know some units have that but it still feels bland. Also anti-psyker keyword sucks as it is 100% dead useless against some factions while horribly crippling others.
Psykers? Oh of course it's one size fits all draxus. She can just do it all. We even needed to have a garbage plastic kit of Coteaz as she half-inched his stance as well. Nerf please! Bloody heretic!
The Sorcerer in terminator armour is actually super good imo. The deathhex bypasses faction specific requirements. So Allied units will get the AP buff as well. With the chaos familiar he has a good chance of surviving if your opponent doesn't invest enough dedicated attacks into him. And his Infernal gaze options are good for focusing either terminator style enemies or space marine. I recommend it in Deceptors a lot for the shroud of Obscuration. 105 point model with Deep Strike, Lone Operative, and Stealth, while also having the chaos familiar, makes him super good for completing secondaries, while being hard to displace, unlike a squad of raptors.
@keyanklupacs6333 because there are like 15 better data sheets 😂😂. Unfortunately a lot of models in CSM get overshadowed because they aren't chosen/chaos lord/obliterators/forgefiend 🤷

Considering all psykers seem to be able do now is buff shooting, I argue Tau marker lights are the best psykers in 10th Ed.
GK 9th edition: "there's really quite a few to choose from"

I miss psykers having actual psychic SPELLS/ABILITY to CAST
the psychic phase used to be my favourite phase in the entire game

None at the moment cause we lost the spychic phase

psykers don't exist in 10th edition
Even as an Eldar player I have to say yeah you're right.
Yeah I came here to say this...what a weird video to make about something that doesn't exist...

I still think if they want to keep them as abilities or guns that they should at least pick from some options for our psykers
I love how the psyker keyword is purely a debuff in 10e. Great job GW

that model is the store anniversary model for this year
Idk why but I was really expecting to just hear “for grey knights it’s all of them” and then just onto the next faction

I'd like psykers and characters in general to go back to being just that, in 10th I feel like they are just taken as enhancements for units
I dispute the term, "Unnatural Abilities." Troll for the day ticked.
Can not wait for the necron choice xD
Whyy does the Neurotyrant give Big guns never tire to Zoanthropes? I've checked the datasheed, but don't understand why.
