confused betwenn australia and Thailand for 3 week vacation in Dec-Jan as hotel prices for 4 star hotel same and food prices for good restaurents also same
No islands nearby Bangkok. You would need a plane to all of them. But you could say the islands nearby Pattaya would be closest. So Ko Samet or maybe head to Ko Kood or Ko Chang
Would love to visit Phangan but spending 120 - 170 euro per night in Thailand seems super ridiculous. Seems like this place is toxic. I think it's better to visit Australia for me as an European - same prices.
Beautiful but the only thing I see besides the water and boats are bars and huts. I once saw a documentary regarding trafficking of children in Thailand, and will never go there because of it
Well, as someone who has been coming to Thailand for 40 years. Has lived and worked here for 26 years. What you call the best islands in Thailand are islands that everyone knows. They are no longer what they used to be. Like everywhere else in the world. But a bit more research would be helpful. Just an example. 4 hours from Bangkok to Koh Chang. 2.5 hours from Pattaya? In a Porsche with no traffic or traffic lights or villages? And let's forget the ferry? And then no luxury hotels? Everything is up for debate.

Thailand is a beautiful country, but it’s important to be aware of the challenges it faces and make informed decisions about travel.
