Don't pay any attention to the negative comments. I live in Kentucky where we are taught manners. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. This was a lovely video and you did great. I was raised on "soup beans" and corn bread. I have never seen the great northern and pintos combined. How cool. Of course I can mix them myself. I will try this. Please keep making videos and ignore the rude people. It's your kitchen and you can do what you want. I think you are great!
Finally! Someone who knows how to make a pot of beans, country style. I'm from West Virginia; grew up on beans, fried potatoes, polk greens, ramps, and cathead biscuits & cornbread. Salt, black pepper, and ham hock is all you need for beans.
Same here. I grew up on it as well. Thanks for stopping by and watching!
I'm from WV also and this is what's in my IP right now!
Ramp Festival, anyone?
I can't tell you how many videos I had to go through to find someone who knows how to make beans.....and knows that we want a broth am not just a pile of dry bean. Great job
I dont think some people have had "good beans" lol
Thank you for the kind comment!
My mother was born and raised in Kentucky. She always said if you keep pinto beans in your cupboard you will never go hungry. Nice video and thanx for sharing.
I have to agree with your mom. As I grew up pinto beans was a staple in my home as well. Thank you for the comment and watching!
Same here
My mama loved Pinto Beans. We always had them and a pressure cooker. I remember when I was a teen we had pinto beans and hoecake for Thanksgiving dinner. Times were tough but we ate.
bebebutterfield1 so true i have about 4 bags in my kitchen
I am from KY too. I crave pinto beans and corn bread. I remember hearing that as long as you have pinto beans you will never go hungry.
I love beans . My grandmother grew up in West Virginia. She made an awesome cornbread and beans . If she were here today she would be amazed at how quickly she could make a pot of beans. I would go to her house and smell the beans cooking in her crock pot and I would get excited. I would take long walks with my grandmother picking berries while she would sing songs to me . She grew up during the Great Depression . She once told me she got just a single present for Christmas one time . A Hershey’s candy bar. She was so exited telling me the story and how she and a friend shared it . I miss my grandmother everyday. I’d give anything to sit and eat a bowl of her beans with her and some of that beautifully browned cornbread. Thanks for sharing how to make your beans with us.
I love to read comments like yours Breezy. I miss mine as well. We are so very blessed even in these troubling and tough times we live in. Thank you for commenting. I had two grandmothers that made a large impact on my life. Beans was the main course for most meals.
What a sweet woman. I love your calm spirit and quiet voice. Your beans came out looking very delicious. Thank you for your video. I'm going to be making these in my instant pot soon.
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy!
I really learned how to clean dry beans, from this video😂
That's great!
Took clicking on a few different videos to find the right one. The first couple were people that talked with yankee accents. Then I found this nice lady who spoke my language.
Ha! Thank you David!
I just ordered my first instant pot and was looking for recipes when I came across your video. Great job!!, gave me some good ideas, and I eat a lot of beans along with my meats. As a small farmer, I'm in the field or the shed constantly and needed a way to set it and forget it. Thanks for making the video Sandra.
Awesome! Thank you!
I love my Instant Pot. In fact, I have a pot of soup beans on now. It's funny, I soaked my beans overnight for the first time, but I have no problem with doing the dry bean method. I always enjoy watching how others use their Instant Pot. I watch UA-cam every day and I really appreciate people sharing their recipes and the way they do things. By the way, I live in Southern Indiana. I'm only 15-20 miles from Louisville, Kentucky. Thanks for your video.
That is awesome! I live in the Eastern part of KY. Thank you for your positive comment. I am making soup beans today myself! lol
I certainly don't know the best way or the perfect way to do everything but I do my best. Thank you so much for visiting my channel 🙂💖
Saw someone dump the beans right into the pot without cleaning........ lol. This is proof enough! Great video, great prep! You're awesome!
Thank you! I can't imagine not washing them first.
You gotta love a good Southern lady that knows how to cook. Born in N Carolina here, but raised in Texas. Our Instapot just arrived today from Amazon.... maybe I'll make these beans while my wife's at work one day. (Retired here).
Great video, thanks Ma'am!!!
Thank you Bill! I hope you enjoy!
My grandmother (born in 1884 on a farm in Kentucky) would always say, "Look your beans. You have to look your beans". I thought it was a waste of time until I bit down on a stone one night in a plate of pintos.
Yup 👍
That is the worst! lol
Thank you! My first time cooking beams in my Instant Pot. I appreciate the help. My Dad is from Blaine Ky and my Mom is from Louisa Ky. Stay well!
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching and commenting :)
OMG SO MANY NEGATIVE COMMENTS. If you don't like the way she picked through her beans or what she seasoned it with or how much water she used then MAKE YOUR OWN DAMN VIDEOS. Geeze, some people just don't know how to be polite anymore.
Amen! Preach it! lol
I think people get really brave and judgmental behind a keyboard. If they’re searching for recipes then they clearly don’t know everything. Ignore them. You do a GREAT job with your videos. I’ve made several of your recipes and nobody died or got pregnant.😉. They turned out fantastic. If I don’t like a flavor or texture, I just tweak it or go on to the next recipe. What a concept!!!
I agree as a 50 year old gentleman who was raised on beans and corn bread and just got a instant pot I enjoy trying these recipes.
Exactly Kristi. People sometimes are so rude on here. There are times that it has crossed my mind to delete my whole channel because of the negativity. No one sees the struggle behind the camera. Trying to over come the nervousness of being on video for the whole world to set and judge you. The struggle of coming up with new content that may be of interest to my viewers. Overcoming some of the hurtful things that people have said. The struggle and frustration of having to repeat the same sentence over and over to get it to come out right lol. They also don't see the cost involved into having a youtube channel or the hours spent at a desk editing video. I could really go on and on lol.
Instead they get to click on my video and watch it no strings attached and no stress involved.
I've never promoted myself as a professional. I'm just a simple country woman from KY cooking in her kitchen. I enjoy cooking and sharing with others and nothing more or less.
I'm sorry for typing a page worth of text for a reply but I want you to know that I appreciate your kind words and encouragement. People like you are the only reason why I have hung in there this far. Thank you!
@@funyunmaker3182 Thank you. That is what the whole purpose of youtube is. I have learned so much myself from other peoples videos. Thank you for watching!
Ah, someone who actually rinses beans before cooking. 👍 I’ve watched others dump a bag of beans straight in the pot. Also, I like the idea of mixing my two favorite types of beans. I never did that before.
This is the only way I make mine. Thanks for watching!
Golly I would never do that put unrinsed beans straight into the pot. I would not want to eat those beans even though the cooking killed and sanitized whatever May have been in or on them. I have broken a tooth from An unpopped popcorn kernal so I would be afraid of small pebble.
I love beans. THanks for the recipe.
My pleasure 😊
Hi Sandra, I’m new here and I am so glad you didn’t allow other folk negativity decide to delete. I’m new to the instapot just learning how to use it.
This recipe is simple and to the point. I’m using a smoked turkey leg. And I will be making Chili. Thanks Sandra
You are so welcome and that sounds great! Thank you for the words of encouragement
Other than the salt, this is exactly the way I make my beans with cast iron skillet corn bread………Thank you hon for sharing…..greetings from Okla
Thank you after the cook in our family died, (the kitchen was off limits, my husband was a great cook, I was so stupid not to learn how to even shop) so luckily I have people like you to help me keep from starving I'm a horrible cook.
Where there is a will there is a way. Thats one of the great things about UA-cam. We can find out how to do just about everything :)
Ohmigosh! I can smell those beans cooking! Mmmm good!
Thanks for allowing me to see your video. Mike
We love pinto beans, fried potatoes and corn bread. Good video Sandra
Thank you! I grew up on beans, taters and cornbread :)
There was six of us kids. Dad had us convinced beans was a meat
LOL! That is so funny! Well they are a good source of protein soooo, I guess he was kinda right :D
And ham - if you got it. If not, that's OK too. Let's eat! lol
thats the southern trinity right there
I am a new Instant Pot user. I love the idea of you letting the beans simmer. I have never seen that before and no one ever talks about it. Thank you so much.
Thank you Connie! I'm sure there are better methods out there but you gotta start somewhere right? This works well for me 😊
☝🏻💁🏻♀️I love beans & cornbread(chow-chow on the side) greens, and fried potatoes...a little kielbasa sausage fried😉👍🏻
I use one of my 3 IP's nearly every day(especially when I make my dog's food!!!
So good!
You wash your beans like I do, great video.
Thats how I was taught. Thank you :)
Your beans with that cornbread on the side looks delicious! I am a Ky. girl and we love our beans & cornbread. Thanks for showing how to fix them in the instant pot, I will have to give this a try.
I'm a KY girl myself...I hope you enjoy the recipe!
Been using the instant pot for over a year and never thought of cooking beans in it.
Thanks for the video. Cooked a pot of pinto beans with a nice smoked ham hock and it was wonderfully soupy and smoky and it didn't take all day!
Isn't it great?!
@@SandrasKitchen Between it and the air fryer I seldom use my stove anymore!
I never knew how to cook beans, thank you for the thorough step by step, now I know what to do, thank you👏🏻👍🏻🤗
Your welcome! Thank you for watching and commenting!
Son deliciosos y muy saludables 👋🌹
Please dont go away ~I just found you! (skip over the negativity, dont read them).....I just received my IP and can't wait to make some of your recipes ~
I can't wait to try your recipe Sandra! Thanks so much for sharing! 💗
Thank you Susan. I hope you enjoy the recipe :)
Good video. I always take a cup of beans out and mash them real good and add them back to the pot to thicken the pot.
Great tip!
I am new to cooking in the instant pot. Thank you for sharing and showing recipes and how to use the ipot.
Your very welcome! Thank you for watching and commenting :)
Looks great. Very nice presentation. Can’t wait to try your pinto beans method in my instant pot.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. These remind me of my mother’s beans. Excellent!
Thank you Robbie!
Yummy, beans and cheese burritos
😋
Thanks for sharing your recipe would have never thought about seasoning beans with a pork chop! Looked great and so much cheaper than smoked ham hocks!
Honestly, I like using a pork chop more!
I loved it she is as picky as I am about my beans
Great video! Just a little tip: brown the meat in the instant pot first and then add in the beans and cook. Brings out more flavor. :)
Thank you Lynn!
Bought my IP yesterday. Making these pintos right now! Can't wait to see how they turn out! Wish me luck, I'm a little nervous but going strictly by this recipe. Thanks, Sandra! 😊
YAY for the Instant Pot purchase!!! You will love it!
And look up Mexican Beans Instant Pot on UA-cam. I make them exactly like the lady does on there and they turn out great. And if you don't like hot, they really are not very hot on the scale, more like mild.
Love beans!
They are good for the heart 😄
Looks so good and comforting. I haven’t made beans in my ip yet but now I will. I like your tip about the white beans too. Enjoying your channel!
Thank you!
Thanks so much for your video. I watched a couple of others and they didn't even mention taking out the bad beans and rinsing the dirt off. I am from West Virginia and we were taught always to do that first.
You'd be surprised how many comments that I receive saying that I dont need to do that step 😂
Thanks for sharing this - I learned a lot on how to make pinto beans quickly, and easily!
Happy to help :)
Thanks for sharing, gonna try this today!
Thank you, great information!
So glad I found you!!! Thank you!
Thank you! I am glad as well :)
So I rinsed my pinto beans and then put them into the pot with leftover smoked pulled pork and hit the beans button. I did it this way because I want to see how the automatic bean feature does. My husband really likes beans and they are so good for you.
I love beans as well. I hope they turned out great which I'm sure they did. These IP's are great!
I just love you!! We are finally going to use our insta pot! Lol💃💃💃💃💃
Thx for video. 👍great tip at the end ( saute) . I will try.
I have beans, salt pork and and Instant Pot! Tomorrow’s supper. Thank you!
yummmy in the tummy
THANKS FOR SHARING NEVER THOUGHT OF PUTTING A PORK CHOP IN THE BEANS I WILL HAVE TO TRY IT NEXT TIME.
Marilyn I think it makes the beans richer in flavor. I hope you enjoy the recipe :)
THANK YOU YUMMMY LOOKING BEANS!!!
omg you worked magic lol i will find these types of beans for now on
Thank you! Sometimes I have to buy the pinto's and white northern beans separately and then mix them together. Usually at Walmart you can find the combo bags that have both though. They work so well together!
That’s a good lookin bowl of beans. I’m going to definitely have to try putting great northern in with my pinto beans in my next pot. Thank you for sharing your recipe. I really enjoyed watching this.😊
I was looking for a pinto bean recipe for my new instant pot (never used it before) because I forgot to soak them last night. I am telling you these look like awesome pinto beans and I will be trying them today. I rinse my beans several times also and have found some small rocks but fewer every year. Thank you for your video.
You are so welcome!
Thank you for sharing. I'm not fond of beans, but I can sure see myself liking this recipe.
Great video I just unboxed my instant pot today noticed I had a lot of pinto beans and found your video! Thank you so much also new subscribe!
Awesome Howie! I hope you are enjoying your Instant Pot. Isn't it great!
Thank You for sharing your recipe, it was very informative, can’t wait to try it out.
Thank you!
Just began making pinto beans myself, it is such a good idea to pick thru the beans. Getting a bad bean is like getting an eggshell pieces in a egg salad sandwich.
Yes!
Hi loved your video. We give our beans one rinse then just throw them in the pot with a ham hock & add a little water when necessary. Then we just cook them until tender like my granny used to do. Thanks for sharing with us. God bless.
Thank you LoveLife :)
got to have raw onions with pintos
Most definitely! I've always had them with my pintos :)
How I was raised
that's what keeps ya healthy
Of Course! Onions with everything except Jell-O!
Great video Sandra !! I always add onion and celery along with my ham hock and simply think how good life is !!!😊
Thank you Terry!
Looks wonderful
Thank you Tara!
I enjoyed your video.... Haven't had a mess of beans for over 34 years... Married a City Gal... I'll just have to make her some.. Got an instant pot for Xmas. Always looking for new recipes...
Oh my! Get in the kitchen and cook those beans! I cant imagine going that long without a good ol bowl of beans :)
As a mom of 12 kids, pinto beans and other beans were a staple in my menu
Same here Mom of 12. I still love them to this day.
I just made a beef and bean soup for our New Year party at church. The people dug in and I had none left !!! 😁
Our weather was terribly windy and later it snowed several inches. The soup sent everyone home nice and warm inside. 😍
I'm a soup gal...
That worked out very nicely!
Who doesn't like soup?
This is so helpful, thank you!
Your very welcome!
this looks yummy to me can't wait to try this but I don't have a cooker like yours so im doing it on the stove this will be my first try thanks Sandra
I hope it works well for you. You can cook them on the stove it just takes a longer to cook them and you may have to use more water. Good luck and I hope they turn out well.
Thanks for showing us newbies how to use instant pot for pinto beans. I used oxtail. I'm allergic to pork. Turned out great 👍😊
You are so welcome!
Look good .I'm going to try it in my instant pot that i haven't used yet had it several months.
Time to get that baby out and start using it 😊
Will definitely try the pinto/great northern mixture, I bet that is good eating
After my first time fixing them I never went back to straight pinto beans lol
Hello from up in Simpsonville! Thank you for such a relaxing video. I could smell them cooking :). Yummm.
Hello 😊 and thanks for watching!
This is GREAT! Thank you for making my first instant pot cook so simple!
Thank you! That is awesome! I'm glad it was a success :)
In New Brunswick beans and fresh baked bread are always on the menu on Saturday night. Mmm
Yum, yum...I love them.
Thanks for the recipe 💕
Your very welcome :)
I just found you and I love you. Subscribed. 💜
Very good video Sandra. Thank you.
Thank you Chuck!
Probably beans is the only and first reason to get a insta pot, so good
Only way to go in summer so no heating up the kitchen.
Hi, I just got mine today. Cooking pinto now. I love to add cilantro with mine. Everyone uses a little different seasoning.. thanks for the video.
I agree. Everyone seems to have their favorite way to season them. Cilantro sounds delicious!
Thumbs wayyyyy up Sandra!
Thank you Tosh!
Yummy recipe. Grew up on beans and cornbread in KY.
I love them!
Wow! What a simple recipe! And from the comments and other southern folk seems like this is the way to make them for a delicious pot! Im Puertorican and was born and raised in Pennsylvania...we put many more ingredients in our beans..we do use either ham or fatback and use potato as our thickner in the beans. I just completed a crosscountry roadtrip through the U.S. and went through KY on the way west. I so wanted to stop for a meal but i had no time. 😔 I'm new to the instant pot ( my son got it for me for xmas), and that's how i came across your video...this looks great, and i'm going to try it your way! I love my Puertorican beans but hey, less ingredients, i'm in!! 👍😁 thank you! I can't wait!
I hope you enjoy the recipe! Using potato as a thickener is a great idea :)
good healthy dish, wee bit less salt lol, dont listen to haters x
Fantastic video!! ❤
Thank you!!
Ok we're using the insta pot right now with your recipe! 🙋
Awesome Alli!
great video I'm going to have to go out and buy me one of those pots
You will love it. I'm still learning as I go but it is something I definitely would recommend for the kitchen.
You will love your Instant Pot. We are learning to use it for so many different food items.
Loved this. You explain so well. Please do more home cooking
Videos. Have a blessed day.
Thank you! I have lots of cooking videos. I hope to continue to make more. You have a blessed day as well!
I'm cooking pintos and great northern beans today with country ham. Yours looked delicious
Thank you. One of the best home cooked meals in my opinion.
Thank you! I am new to IP....
Your beans look perfect!! I'm a few yrs late to the IP game but glad I finally got one. I love that you turned it to sautee at the end; I watched a couple videos before this and they didn't do that. Also love that you added a pork chop to yours! I always use country ham pcs that come in a pack - I use em for greens too. There have been times when I couldn't find ham & I feel like a dummy for not throwing a pork chop in! 💗
Anyway, just wanted to give you props. Can I come eat? 😂
Awesome! Thank you! Dinner's almost ready!
i like them best the second day also
Oh yes, me too!
Going to go make some pinto beans in my pressure cooker now. I have a ham bone and scraps from a sale ham that I got last week I portioned out.
Those work great for flavor. Thanks for watching!
❤❤❤
Thank you for watching :)
Excellent job & I have a feelin you know the difference between an actual hamhock & a hamshank that comes from a spiral sliced ham. Amen. ✌️💞🌻😹🙏
Yes and thank you!
i put in a whole chopped onion in mine before i cook it and after the cooking process i mash some of the beans with a potato masher to thicken it all up...yummmmm!
That sounds good. I love onion so I'd gobble that right up...lol. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for making a great channel!
I mash mine a little too.
I grew up on pinto beans, but no one else in my house likes them. I am getting ready to buy a pressure cooker and will start cooking my own beans, eating them for a regular snack.
I grew up on them too Roger. They are one of my favorite things to eat...yum 😋
👍👍
Thank you - loved your video - could anyone tell me how long I can keep this pintos in the refrigerator that has pork meat in with the beans?
I was watching this other woman and i was like i just don’t like her video. it wasn’t necessarily her fault i just guess she reminds me of people in town. you sound just like my hometown and it was nice to watch your video so i’m glad i went looking for another. hello from glasgow ky
Thank you and welcome to my channel! :)
