    Greetings from Chicago Olga…..
This spring 2023…I planted my 18
    “ knot roses “?…. I think they’re called?
They are in the front of my house under a beautiful dogwood tree.
I’m so proud that they took root well …. I lightly fed them twice this year….10 are miniatures
    ( about a foot tall …. And 8 are 3 foot tall.)
Now that it’s November, I thought of watering them maybe once or twice more and putting some sort of bucket or cone over them… ?
( is it too soon?)……..or would my bagged dogwood leaves and chicken wire be fine?
I will get the cow manure ( hope it doesn’t stink up my yard lol…… people walk their dogs pass the house!
Chicago gets lots of snow sometimes and…. I think the plants will get smothered under gobs of snow?
And….. is watering before the snowfall still important?
    Love your show!!!
You are sooo natural and I find you a bit funny in the way you correct your English 😂…
    such a perfectionist… lol
You’re also a hard worker and a pleasure to learn from.
Thanks for your precious tips on rose care!
    Of course I’ve subscribed!!!!
    Happy Thanksgiving Olga
… and stay warm and safe this winter ❄️
    Truly,
    🎼RAIN RAIN🎼

What a great educational video! Thank you for showing so many different examples of roses, I'm just learning about them and get confused about trimming. I'll make sure to remove black spot leaves from now on.

Dear Olga, I am so jealous of how strong and upright your LoS branches are. My first year LoS has thing octopus canes that grow to all possible directions 🤦‍♀️ I guess I have to prune it back hard in spring and wait till it matures. Greetings from Spain!

Zone 6 can be tough. And I heard that this winter is going to be cold. How about moving those pots to the side of the house a cover them with leaves, soil, mulch….

    • @OlgaCarmody
      @OlgaCarmody  Рік тому

Thank you for your suggestion. Salvias are good rose companions. My region of New England in US is prone to black spot on roses, I am going to do winter spraying with horticultural spray soon. As for Lady of Shalott, hm, it is quite tight there, taking into consideration future expansion of boxwoods... Anyway, Merry Christmas to you in England!
