Quick correction, Nest Protect doesn't use WiFi to communicate with other Protects except for your phone, it uses a mesh network to communicate with other Protects, to still let you know there is a smoke in the living room when your in your bed.
Wished the nest smoke detector was round and not square so one wouldn’t have to worry about lining it up to the walls so it looks straight. You would think the designers who made this would have thought that one through.
