I am from Kaukauna WI and have just put a Garmin 93sv on my Seadoo Spark Jet ski. I use 1120khz due to the 455 dose not give as good detail as the 1120 when trolling the river. I am still trying to get better at identifying fish on the view. But I am sure as I use it more I will like it that much more. Now I will be going to work on getting a better view on down scan.

Hi, I’ve watched so many of your videos that I lost track. In one you made a comment that you prefer the gt54 over the 56. As an angler who is switching from another brand I’m curious as to why the 54 is your favorite. Could you tell me your reason(s)?
The units that I’m looking into are:
    93sv uhd w/ gt54
    Ultra 106sv w/gt54
    93 sv uhd2 w/gt56
The 93sv uhd would most likely serve my needs @ $700, but, having all the extra pixels on the 106 and the uhd2 couldn’t hurt. When combining the higher screen resolution with the (supposedly) much better gt56, I’m having a little trouble settling on one unit over the others. What is your opinion Sir?
    Thanks!

For me I run 455 95% of the time. Reason being that I’m scanning for catfish and at time them being a soft skinned fish vs a scaled fish. The higher frequencies will miss a lot more of my fish. And I’m not as concerned about a pretty picture over finding catfish

Great video. We get hung up on 455 htz because that all we hear but the difference is clear. I will be switching for sure now. Thanks a lot for teaching us how to use out money eating units better. I definitely learn a lot here.🙂 I'm here in Georgia.

i run 455 a lot as well even for crappie. i more interested in fish returns than structure and cover detail. ive ran and tested pretty much most of the xducers and still like 455 most of the time.

I always think of it as range vs resolution. In shallow water you don’t need range imo, but in deeper water you would. You should do this same experiment in deeper water and compare the two frequencies. I would have gone with the 1120 in This scenario.

I have a new phoenix ,I ordered this boat with new garmin 126 sv units, always had Lowrance units, First let me say livescope is awsome side and down imaging not very good at all very disapointed, boat came with an atlas hyd plate , I was under the boat one day and noticed it looked like the transducer cable was pinched took it back to the dealer and they said it prob was the setting tech made some changes to the setting worked maybe a little better but still no where as good as my hds lowrances, they act like well it was just the outer covering was pinched a slight bit by the cavtaion plate wire had just missed the cutout when they hung the motor. guess im just going to pull the trigger with a new ducer out of pocket.

Ya I'm up here in Canada on the great lakes and when I'm scanning deeper water, like 20'+, I find 455 is better particularly when I'm shooting 120' or more. Better detail and I see fish easier. At least thats my experience.

455 for searching greater distance mark then come back over with 1120 to get your detail and fish 455 breaks down the lake quicker cause distance

When I say reach out to 100-150-200 ft, I meant to say that distance sideways. When I’m looking just to one side only, I get rid of the other direction, and have whole screen to the direction I’m looking. Kentucky

  • @lonniehall9006
    @lonniehall9006 2 роки тому

455 is used to reach out, say 120-200 ft. If at 40 ft, you would always use the higher 1000. 455 is hotter and you usually have to turn down some of the scale numbers. Kentucky

Missouri I think my gt54 is broke 1120 has a terrible image in 10’ of water so I just use 455 didn’t know what I was missing in 1120 until now ordering a new one now

Predominantly I use the 1070 with my GT-56 Transducer with my Echomap Ultra 126sv on the console because Ikeep my SideVu scanning to 100 feet on each side. However, I will try the same settings on my bow mounted Echomap Ultra 126sv with the GT34 UHD Transducer which is similar to the GT54 UHD with frequencies ranging from 800 khz and 1200 khz. Both the GT56 and GT34 are transom mounted and are independently connected to each 126sv ultras. I think the ticket to success is keeping the range to 40-60 feet to maximize pixels used for optimal detail imagery. BTW, you stopped saying "RING THE BEEEEEEEELLL" . I think you should go back to doing it. :-)

Good video as always. Thanks for all your info.
I have an issue that Mabe you can help me with. When using garmin maps and gps the map swings so bad it’s hard to get lined up on your target destination. I have to use my humminbird for maps because of this. The humminbird map is stable and true. I have a 1222 and a 106 sv and they both do this. Compass calibration is good on both units. Is there a setting I’m not seeing for this. I noticed in your videos yours is not doing this.
    Thanks.

if its doing it while anchoring or very slow trolling, you can change the map orientation to north up to keep the map from spinning but the boat icon will still spin. for offshore use you really need a heading sensor like garmin steady cast. if you already have a lowrance point one they are compatible with garmin on a nmea2k network. there is also a gps speed setting you can set to slow down the refresh rate.

@@knowitallfishing6990 Thanks Tracy, I will try the refresh rate and see if that helps. May have to buy the steady cast. Thanks for your help.

I use 455 for long range search. Then, higher frequency for close up examination. Under 50 feet. Arkansas. Beam on 455 is wider than 1070 and covers more area.

I run 455 95% of the time it will show me the structure i only crappie fish and when i see the structure unless it's super shallow I run over it with the 840khz down imagine to see what's on it if I'm in under 10fow I'll run the 1120 to no more than 40feet out

My honest opinion would be have it at the max for best quality ! If you keep it at 455 your only getting less detail ? Now if you crank that up to the maximum? Then youll get the best results ? So yeah i would have it on max if that was me for better quality and better results ! Dont listen to those other guys they dont know shit about sonar! They think they know it all…Keep it always at 1120khts it will always stay the same ? Those guys telling u how it’ll change once it gets deeper More like Bs 😂
