The thing with 4074 is it gets a lot less stable when you start turning the features on, and has it's own mess of problems like not being able to create new folders out-of-the-box. Does have the neatest eye candy though, seems like an obvious build to try.
I have been running Vista since about 2012, and it has been running just fine. I even used it to play games like CoDMW, Crysis, Skyrim, Diablo III. Just for fun I installed the 64-bit version on an SSD, and Vista takes some 15 seconds to "cold boot". Vista rocked/still rocks :)

Longhorn had some of the best Windows sounds IMHO. I forget which build they came in, but it was all angelic and stuff. I use them on my Windows 10 box :)
Wow this brings back a lot of frustration. I think I used two days fixing this mess. The only thing worse than installing those betas was that sick virus where you had 5 minutes to backup before the computer restarted...
Only problem with that depending on the DVD drive it might not like them, and with some ISO files you have to finalize the disk for it work, and lets not mention the cost is even higher then dual layer DVD-R disc, so it kind of defeats the purpose of using a DVD-RW disc.
Wow you really deserve credit for sticking with this for so long! I would have given up a long time ago! Btw, the computers in a cardboard box is the most ghetto thing i've ever seen lol!
The VIA 8237 controller in the A64 2800+ does not work with S-ATA2 or S-ATA3 drives (unless they can be configured by jumper to S-ATA "1" mode). It also does not support optical drives. Also, the Pentium E2xxx machine was in AHCI mode :-P.
Oh man Druaga, I remember the XP days when I was rocking a Dell Dimension 2400 P4 with 512mb ram. My brother gave me a pirated LongHorn cd. Not sure where he got it but it changed my life. I never knew how beautiful an OS could look. Sure it didn’t work that well but it was an experience nonetheless. I still have that original cd. I ought to make a video installing it on period accurate hardware as well. We can corroborate our findings.
And for the record I am running a Power Mac G5 with a Western Digital Green 120GB SSD as the boot drive. I’ve found the WD ssd’s to be the most reliable backward compatible drives.
I like Windows Neptune, the Win 2000-based OS that was in development for consumer use before Microshaft decided to go with XP. I ran that on a VM and installed Bonzi Buddy on it. :D

You should have done build 4015. I have the image and a serial number in case you can't find it anymore, and in case you're interested in testing what I believe to be the most intriguing version of Longhorn. It's basically a 50/50 mix of Vista and XP and it's horribly fantastic. BTW The "m3" stands for "milestone 3", so that really wasn't the FIRST Longhorn, but rather the 3rd one the devs thought was noteworthy.

What is the modern thinkpad successor? What would you consider as powerful, as well built and as workload oriented? I still am fond of when my dad was running his with 2GB of RAM!!!! That was in 2006!!!!
Very nice thinkpad! BUT Be cautioned! From the bios date it looks like you have late 2008 model. These models have a fault in the graphics chip on models with dedicated graphics chip! Don't use video out if you have this
So I've paused the video just to say that: Those rubber things on thinkpad are to go around the caddy (that I've realised that you don't have) and not around the drive, because the caddy has a black thing that you can push to take the drive out
You could probably enable the Administrator account while in safe mode to restart in normal mode and then get all the drivers and aero working under the Administrator account.
Comin back to revisit some of your older videos again. I'm sure you've messed with these builds and done research since, But I'll add for anyone just getting into these builds, Longhorn Pre Reset build 4074 is the best build to use in terms of stability, software/ hardware support and overall "Longhornyness". You could also use Sigma OS 3.0, which is a user made version of 4074 to bring more stability and enable some hidden beta features. This one also comes activated with the timebomb removed. Stock 4074, you can remove the timebomb with NTTweaker. Make sure to google and enable proper BIOS dates for the build you're installing. Always disable AHCI.
1:05:16 - "*** STOP: 0x0000007B" means INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE. 1:04:13 People recommend Arch Linux because they like it, If they wanted some schadenfreude they'd probably tell you to install Gentoo or something.
Green screen = Cannabis-related error?
Longhorn had some of the best Windows sounds IMHO. I forget which build they came in, but it was all angelic and stuff. I use them on my Windows 10 box :)
arnt you saying Windows XP sounds are the best
Oh man this is the funniest video ever
Woot! I love the T61 I use a maxed out one as a school computer all the time. So many ports!
Better than Goolag Spybooks I heard you usually get in JewSA
36:39 GSOD (Green Screen Of Death)
Unfortunately the video is too heavily compressed and low resolution for us to able to see the date on the match, much less the time in many cases.
Wow this brings back a lot of frustration. I think I used two days fixing this mess.
The only thing worse than installing those betas was that sick virus where you had 5 minutes to backup before the computer restarted...
uhh ever thought of getting dvd-rw discs?
Only problem with that depending on the DVD drive it might not like them, and with some ISO files you have to finalize the disk for it work, and lets not mention the cost is even higher then dual layer DVD-R disc, so it kind of defeats the purpose of using a DVD-RW disc.
Wow you really deserve credit for sticking with this for so long! I would have given up a long time ago! Btw, the computers in a cardboard box is the most ghetto thing i've ever seen lol!
the bios on that laptop is fully ACPI compliant. it is the fact it can't load a driver.
and that BSOD is a generic BSOD for the setup process.
52:26 that’s what my laptop fan sounds like at idle LOL
The VIA 8237 controller in the A64 2800+ does not work with S-ATA2 or S-ATA3 drives (unless they can be configured by jumper to S-ATA "1" mode). It also does not support optical drives. Also, the Pentium E2xxx machine was in AHCI mode :-P.
The 0x0000007B refers to AHCI. If that was on in the BIOS when installing it always needs to be on.
+undrgrndneo, it really annoyed me that out of all the different things he tried, he had to overlook that one!
I’ve found the WD ssd’s to be the most reliable backward compatible drives.
i know there's gotta be another way to have a test bench, like, an mdf plank and some standoffs
I like Windows Neptune, the Win 2000-based OS that was in development for consumer use before Microshaft decided to go with XP. I ran that on a VM and installed Bonzi Buddy on it. :D
Eric Wood I like bonzi buddy
look at you being comedic and original by saying Microshaft
@@crylune And they are still giving users the shaft, too.
@@ericwood3709 that comment aged like milk. After Recall I now completely agree and use Arch
@@crylune Welcome to the club :p Got a Fedora laptop (Framework!) and a Mint desktop running at the moment. Plus a Mac mainly for my work.
Ever try calmira for windows 3? Its on winworld
¨and today we´re going to install something that has been *LONG* requested on this channel¨
What worth the most? Nintendo Labo or a amazon cardboard pc?
36:38 Where can I get that BSOD color to download?
?!! It's called GREEN SCREEN OF DEATH AND ITS VERY RARE TO GET and there's also a RED SCREEN OF DEATH and it (RED SCREEN OF DEATH)appears when ur PC is COMPLETELY DESTROYED!!!
Maybe
You should have done build 4015. I have the image and a serial number in case you can't find it anymore, and in case you're interested in testing what I believe to be the most intriguing version of Longhorn. It's basically a 50/50 mix of Vista and XP and it's horribly fantastic.
BTW The "m3" stands for "milestone 3", so that really wasn't the FIRST Longhorn, but rather the 3rd one the devs thought was noteworthy.
My HP Pavilion from 08 also had a similar one screw system for the drive tray. I think it was pretty common for the time and still is today.
I remember I had to find a 900 MB CD to install this. It was hard to find and expensive too.
41:50 That was an oddly professional transition
who watches druagas old vids,I imagine longhorn would have been used for offices or buisnesses
i watch him. i wish he had more content. he's such a likeable guy.
@@charlesswenson259 yeah, i wish he comes out saying why he hasnt uploaded in so long
i have a feeling he's working really hard at his job and may have some health/light mental issues going on. I just hope he's ok and happy. Maybe he got a gf?@@chrism869
Listen how loud this cpu fan .
*fan noise*
*fan chews mic cover*
XD
"Kinda Fucked Up" is the natural, default state of a desktop Linux installation.

did drauga not see the COMPDATA folder? i mean compbatt might have been in there.
bud, your videos give me comfort in my own head-bashing moments. and you’re still funny as fuck. keep on truckin’.
At the end you shouldve replaced the accessability exe file on the login screen with a product key validation app
Anytime I see a Druaga1 video longer than an hour I rejoice! Partly because I KNOW -{a}- I'm in for some fun, AND when -{they're}- *the videos are* that long, I know he'll be going through some pain lol, -{but}- meaning shit goes sideways and -{the}- *his* reactions are priceles AND 😂 hilarious!
BUT!!! Ultimately, *Druaga always figures everything out.* BAM! #Winning 🏆

dude. not trying to critisize you or be rude but you don't have to do -{this}- and make it bold to fix mistakes on the internet. i think school's getting to you too much, lol

What is the modern thinkpad successor? What would you consider as powerful, as well built and as workload oriented? I still am fond of when my dad was running his with 2GB of RAM!!!! That was in 2006!!!!
A longhorn misadventure would have been a better name.
i had longhorn 4074 pretty stable on my pentium D pc,was looking good too. i kinda miss this xp look.
never was able to run properly 4051.
Very nice thinkpad!
BUT
Be cautioned!
From the bios date it looks like you have late 2008 model. These models have a fault in the graphics chip on models with dedicated graphics chip! Don't use video out if you have this
Using video out doesn't change the chance of the GPU de-laminating
I kind of liked the longhorn system sounds more than the vista/7 sounds it ended up getting.
Now we just need Nashville, Neptune, and Whistler
So I've paused the video just to say that:
Those rubber things on thinkpad are to go around the caddy (that I've realised that you don't have) and not around the drive, because the caddy has a black thing that you can push to take the drive out
You could probably enable the Administrator account while in safe mode to restart in normal mode and then get all the drivers and aero working under the Administrator account.
can we get a ctrl+alt+weed for our longsuffering main man druaga1?
one of the early post reset builds of longhorn has a beta aero mode that really cool. can't remember the exact build number though.
Druaga:Not Bad
Windows longhorn:Ight Imma GSOD
I remember running Longhorn a long long time ago. It was a welcome change from Windows XPee.
Always disable AHCI.
it wont list anything because it's looking for "compbatt"
1:05:16 - "*** STOP: 0x0000007B" means INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE.
That error can be caused by device driver issues (especially with those related to hard drives and other storage controllers),
devastating computer viruses, data corruption, and even sometimes hardware failure!
Any of the NT based Windows versions can experience this error.
for those wondering i believe @ 36:40 that stop code means “inaccesible boot disk”
You mean “INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE”?
@@williamreid6255 same thing
This is late but I think it's funny that at 1:48 he blocks out the MAC address, but the UUID above it is type 1 which reveals the timestamp and Mac address itself: 9d:80:84:e8:45:5f - 1992-06-13 22:22:11.000000.1 UTC
Duraga are you located in California ? I felt like I seen you around somewhere. It be cool to hang out with you!
Why you don't read what the screens says at 15:00 and pressed the f7 key at the boot?
