- A wild elephant smashed my car. The attack happens at 3:50 minutes into the video.
This incident happened outside of the town of Tissamaharma near the famous Yala National Park. Luckily no one was injured.
I did not realize that people had trained the elephants by giving them food every time they passed by.
There was a sign that read “Do not feed the animals” so I did the right thing and obeyed. However, I noticed other vehicles throwing food as they raced passed the elephant. Apparently, there is a mandatory offering that must be made to the elephant. Any passing vehicle that does not throw food at the elephant will cause the elephant to get angry and attack their vehicle. I wish I had known this beforehand.
Any money that is made from this video will help pay for the extensive damages. Thank you for watching.
Human-Elephant Conflict (HEC)
Human-elephant conflict (HEC) is one of the biggest environmental and socio-economic crises in rural Sri Lanka. Ad-Hoc development projects carried out over the years threaten the habitat of Wild Elephants.
Wild Elephants charge at villages in search of the fresh farm harvest that is stored inside homes. In 2002, 5 people lost their lives in only 2 days in rural areas of Sri Lanka.
It is reported that wild elephants caused serious damage to 10 houses and a school in the Kalu-Ebe village in the town of Kekirawa, Sri Lanka.
Why is it that the authorities have not been able to implement a solution to the Human-Elephant conflict that could have prevented these incidents? #animalattack #animallover

Yes, I think that was the name. It was like the main road going through. Yala was on the right side.
The people traveling on this road has started offering food to those wild elephants and now they have got used to demand food. The wild life officials should do something very soon to these elephants before a major mishap happens. One can never be sure of the behavior of wild elephants

There are 3 different elephants in this video. We weren’t passing the same elephant again and again.
