There is a lot of illegal dumping going on in Detroit. The city is putting a lot of resources into stopping and catching those who are doing it. They are also putting resources together to tear down a large number of abandoned houses.
Look at all those once-beautiful two-story homes all abandoned and left to rot. What a shame man. I'm from Australia, can anyone who is from Detroit tell me if these houses are for sale or what?
@The Gamers Guild even in the 1980s it was bad. Way worse now. Drive in movies were nothing but fight clubs. And that was the 80s. I wlavoid the place altogether these days.
You can buy those houses cheap, but a person would be wasting their money. During the renovation process you would most likely have all of your stuff stolen. If you managed to renovate a home, you would be a target for thieves. Just for the record, just about every inner city is like Detroit, there are crumbling homes and crime. Some people manage to secure a rare location in the inner cities that are being restored, but you are surrounded by rot and crime, neighborhoods fall apart at a faster rate than they are restored.(like burning a candle) There are cities that are slowly coming back, but it only happens when mega money comes in and cleans up large portions of a city. (like if someone buys an entire neighborhood and brings in large employment opportunities) It doesn't happen on an individual level.
It really depends on the neighborhood. Some neighborhoods have been abandoned and blighted beyond hope, but others are slowly rebuilding themselves. Most neighborhoods also vary by street; one street may have perfect well-looked-after houses, the next may be completely abandoned, and the next may have several houses under renovation. In general, neighborhoods closer to wealthy areas and Downtown have less crime and are experiencing more revitalization. The abandoned homes should all be for sale under the Detroit Land Bank, which sells them for as little as $1,000. If you are serious about buying and restoring a house, however, I would recommend choosing a favorable neighborhood first.
Man why can't the cities be like this in the night time? It was like a fly atmosphere, cool, and chill! It doesn't have to be the other way all dangerous

Those derelict & abandoned houses are allowed to stand. Because the property owners are paying the property taxes, on those properties. Why are they doing that is a question only the property owners can answer. It explains why it has taken so long to demolish the old Packard factory.
