Thank you for your comment, we appreciate you watching the comparison video. Surely, it's understandable at first glance to feel that way. To put our Legends On The Diamond team set of player cards into perspective for you, here's a site where you can order business cards. www.moo.com/us/business-cards These business cards start at $21.00 for 50. That's .42 cents/card. Baseball Classics Legends On The Diamond teams have up to 28 player cards, the size of an index card (3 1/2" X 5") with smooth rounded corners, color-coded front to back. That's about 43 cents per card. And when joining Baseball Classics DiamondLink membership with the discounts offered, it's even far less. We could go on and on about pricing such as the price for 1 front and back sided color laser copy page at a local shop like FedEx, Staples, etc. Just 1 sheet alone is typically over $2.50. That would hold only 4 our player cards. Thus, if you were to create you own player cards the size of an index card (only 4 can fit per sheet) X 32 cards (we also include team cards), that would cost you @ $20.00 per team to print them out. Plus, of course you need to create all the player ratings for each player card that provide statistically accurate results and include all their color-coded stats and real-time features embedded as we have. That would be far more than $20.00/team. ;-) Hope this helps put our pricing and the value we are offer into perspective.
@@playbaseballclassics I totally understand, but your game prices me out of your product. I own every other game because the price to entry was fair enough that I could try the game to see if it scratches my itch. I can't even get in the door with this pricing. Thank you for your question and the commenter's reply too. Baseball Classics is the only MLB board game featuring fully color-coded player cards on 3 1/2" X 5" (up to 32 cards per team), thus is more to produce than other games with monocratic, smaller player cards. Plus, as a Free bonus, DiamondLink Annual plan includes shipping 3 books we've published: Baseball Classics Single-Season All-Time All-Stars (over 550 pages, with player cards pictured for every player listed), Pitching In A Pitch by Christy Mathewson (with 100 player photos added in this revised edition, and a revised publication of the oldest known baseball book - Base Ball Player's Pocket Companion (written word for word, page by page as it was). The Annual Plan for $199.97 is 56% OFF our regular pricing for the 48 teams and we have included everything above Free. That is a $695/year value. We also offer 25% OFF everything in our store for the monthly plan which starts at only $12.97/mo for any 2 MLB teams and everything else listed above except the Free books bonus. There are no other MLB board games that manufacture full color-coded player cards the size of a standard index card (3 1/2" X 5") in 110 pound card stock. Baseball Classics chose not to go the plain, monochromatic, smaller player card route because the feedback from our customers over the decades is they prefer a high quality manufactured product rather than those typical games produced. Naturally, there are plenty of other monochromatic designed board games for you and others to choose from, but as you can see in the video, they do not compare to ours which is why their pricing doesn't either.
Thanks for this video. I didn't realize the Baseball Classics cards were so large. That's a plus in my book. I do have a few questions though: You only showed the first card in the game play chart cards, and I'm curious about how the game actually plays. Are the charts based on base situations like APBA or based on fielding ratings and hitting/fielding strategies like Strat? Do you have different charts for base running decisions or other situations? All of APBA's results start on the hitter's card, all of Strat's results are based on a 50/50 model (each result starts on either the hitter or pitcher card). It looks like Baseball Classics might be more similar to Strat, but I'd like to know if that's true. Besides L/R splits, are there any other differences between the front and back of your cards. That is, besides rating players for their left/right splits, does the backside have more advanced strategies/game play/different results/statistical accuracy than the front? In my opinion, in the basic game APBA's biggest weakness is that pitcher ratings (they call them grades) are based on ERA and therefore very different pitchers can have very similar grades. Strat's biggest weaknesses in its basic game are that Hit By Pitch is not a possible result and the basic stealing system is highly inaccurate. What are the most common criticisms of Baseball Classics' basic game? Lastly, my best friend is color blind. From your description it seems like the colors on the cards can be important to the ratings. What is the workaround if he can't tell the difference between certain colors? Again, I really appreciate the video. I'm very interested in Baseball Classics but it is by far the most expensive of the three games and I'd like to have more information before making the investment.
Thank you for your valuable comment. Yes, Baseball Classics also uses a 50/50 Batter/Pitcher system. Our Game Play Chart cards are based on fielding ratings, etc. rather than base situations with the exception of a runner on 3rd base with a Safety Squeeze, Suicide Squeeze, or Infield In. Baseball Classics has a number of Game Play Chart cards including Fielder Spray Chart (dynamic, rather than static play such as a dice roll on a player card always going to the same fielder such as Shortstop, etc.), Tough Play & Error Chart, Bunt, Base Running, Steal, Instant Replay, and Play Action Simulator. With 3 game play levels; Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced where virtually anything that can happen in an MLB game (wind blown home runs, robbing home runs, etc.), can happen in yours provides great flexibility for ages 8 to adult. Thus, "advanced" play is available whether you're playing with the front side of our color-coded player cards based on their overall statistical performance or back side with split lefty/righty ratings. Baseball Classics uses color-coded triangle arrow icons (pointing up, down, left, right) for all player ratings on the cards with the exception of Real-Time Fielding. However, the Game Play Chart cards could be a challenge for someone who is color blind as many of them use red and green to indicate results. However, the shades are darker or lighter, perhaps that could be helpful. We will be providing more videos soon to show how fast, easy, and realistic Baseball Classics Legends On The Diamond Game is. Also, through our DiamondLink membership at www.BaseballClassics.com/DiamondLink we offer 25% or 50% discounting and much more depending on the plan selected (options are monthly or annual).

APBA is pronounced App-Ba, two syllables, not Aay-Pee-Bee-Aay. It's in their literature.
Thanks for your comment and watching this straight up comparison.
