The Sial state around Chiniot was encroached upon by Sikh chieftains in the north, and from Multani chiefs in the south, before coming under control of the Bhangi Misl Sikhs by 1765.[5] The Sikhs imposed an annual tribute on the Sial chief, Inayatullah Khan, which he ceased paying in 1778 before also capturing Chiniot.[5] He died in 1787, though the city had reverted to Bhangi Sikh rule before his death.
The city suffered during the Sikh Misl states period in which the city region's Bhangis battled the Sukerchakia Misl. Chiniot was captured by Ranjit Singh in 1803, and thereafter became part of the Sikh Empire. The city was invested in Sial chief Ahmad Khan, who promised to pay tribute to Ranjit Singh's kingdom. Khan stopped paying tribute, and briefly seized full control of the region in 1808, but was decisively defeated by Ranjit Singh's forces in 1810.
The city came under British rule by 1849, and the city was constituted as a municipality in 1862. In 1875, the city's population was 11,999. During the British period, a vast network of canals were laid to irrigate Punjab, resulting in the creation of many new "canal colonies" around Chiniot.

Chet ram Kapoor Ji & brother of Mr. Ravi Kapur and am really excited & extremely pleased to see the old Marvelous Haveli of my forefathers and can understand the true ,hard & honest efforts put in by them to build this fort kind haveli. I remember the wording of my father & grand father who use to tell that they lived in Mohalla Pooran prehlad in Chiniot. I had never thought that I will ever see this Haveli but due to your blessings & Gods desire this could be possible.

My name is Nanak Khanna from Delhi I came to Pakistan in 2006 and visited our village Mathrume near Chiniot where my father was born before partition of India 🇮🇳 in 1947 our family Havelli 🏠 was opposite DIGEE PAAR DA MANDIR near post office Chiniot I couldn't find our Havelli as all buildings in the area were reconstructed but had visited this Bada Mandir and had a boat ride in river Chenab and had eaten Shakarkandi with KINNU 🍊 ( orange) poured on it instead of NIMBU 🍋 (lemon) .

I am grand daughter of Chaudhary Aya Ram Dhawan who for generations lived in Chiniot, my grand father’s Havali was little away from the civil hospital. Thank you for showing the beautiful Chiniot.. साड़ा Chiniot फ़ुला (flowers) डा सेहरा.
Pakistan lost a great set of hindu traders after partition, who came to India with little or no money in hand and made a fortune creating Industrial giants. If they had kept religious vandalism apart and accepted them, pakistan economy could have been powerful in Asia now...
Same goes with Memons, khojas and Dawoodi bohras of Gujarat who migrated to Karachi from Gujarat and made giant companies in Pakistan. Karachi was the best liveable city in asia in 70s because of them only.
& the reasons were mullas of Pakistan. No doubt why they are at the verge of bankruptcy. May they bankrupt soon!

@@BNKapur-sw6qv sir we're well settled in Amritsar. Our Grandparents worked hard and established their khatri( Khsatriya)legacy again. Our family mostly has taken the profession of arms as per our khatri lineage and have done well in buisness too.
