The MagSafe duo is the best product for me not this battery pack. I charge wirelessly everywhere. Only when I need a quick charge I use the lightning port with the cable of the MagSafe duo. (Yes I have a watch that I also charge at the same time)
Are you sure the battery percentage was dropping because the battery pack wasn't enough to keep it topped up? Or being it a "smart" battery pack, it just knows to stop charging during resource-intensive tasks so as not to fry the phone's battery?
Hmm… I actually like it and use it now. I see it as a portable MagSafe charger. I have it at my desk where I charge both via lightning in the MagSafe 🔋 and then just take the pack with me when I go. 🤷🏽♂️
I got it and love it. How I use it is more to replace the MagSafe charger in my backpack. So when I go to work, I can charge my 12 pro max with MagSafe and take it with me and leave for extra battery.
The only thing I really don't get is that it doesn't have wireless charging itself like the previous battery cases. It absolutely doesn't make any sense - especially for Apple.
Just use the magsafe battery pack as if it were a magsafe charger, leave it on a lightning cable and take it off when you need it. That’s clearly it’s intended use
Bro obviously you don’t know how to use the product I hate when reviewers go on here and think they know about the product but don’t really spend time to learn the function of it “” number 1- it’s a battery extender not a power bank it is. Not designed to be a power bank it is designed to extend your battery number 2-it’s meant to be put on your phone when you phone is already fully charged by doing this it holds the power at 91 percent for about 9-10 hours with heavy use so it’s basically extending it
Has Apple ever actually said they're planning for a magsafe-only future? I feel like you're taking this vision more seriously than Apple themselves lol
Dude I too wanted to like this but for most of the reasons you said I am returning it. Yeah black would have been dope 😅 What’s with Apple and everything wireless has to be white. Maybe in the future the battery will have colors too. Yeah that was the first disappointment when I was using the iPhone and the battery went down while using it. At first when you said you wished the pack had MagSafe on the back I thought it would take up too much space but then I thought of the advantages. Yes you could hang both connected devices on a MagSafe car mount. Also you could charge the pack on a MagSafe puck, with the led indicating a connection. Maybe passthrough charging both connected devices wirelessly. Additionally, if the future Pro model iPhones get USB-C make a Pro model battery pack with USB-C, and make it in black to distinguish it from the Lightning version.
if its draining as youre using it the magsafe battery pack also isnt charging fast enough which it dont its only 5wat. they could of pumped up to 10 at least i know apple is worried about battery damage

@@fijiwill2237 I agree the smart battery cases were my preferred choice, but Apple has stopped that line so this is the alternative! It is too expensive for sure, £70 is my thinking, but in a month or two I should get them for that and I will get a couple for my next phone, the iPhone 13 Pro. I know someone who uses one on their iPhone 12 and the pack is permanently attached and it manages to get them through the day with their usage, leaving the iPhone charged at 90% at day’s end! They then just need to charge the pack, using pass through, again ready for the following day! Very much as I use my smart battery case. It sticks like glue to a MagSafe case and does not heat up and seems like a solid choice.
I use my phone all day at work and need the battery to last so I got this. It literally drops charge every single time I try to use the battery pack except when I leave the phone in my pocket with pack attached and don’t use it at all. Even then, the phone only goes up a few percents which is ridiculous. I’ve even seen the battery pack die faster than the phone battery without the phone gaining any charge.
I have none of those issues so I do not know why you have them. It will stop charging if you use your iPhone as it is designed to do this as not even in Android world do you use your phone while wireless charging, so pretty obvious? It is 5-watts so is slow charging, it says that on the website! Use it as wireless chargers were designed to be used, that is, when the phone is idle, for tops ups during the day, as if you would if you had one on your desk or car! It is a totally different product to wired charging and it seems that people do not understand the difference? If it is not how you want it to work then get something else! It works great for me and I have zero issues and find the negativity more from misunderstanding of the tech than this being bad! Of course, it is still very expensive!
So if you use this with the 12 mini, you still LOSE battery life. The charging isn’t powerful enough to to increase the charge during usage… I called Apple support to ask about this as I thought that I had a defective unit. Apparently it’s normal and to be expected… smh
…not sure why that is a problem if like me you keep the smart pack attached permanently as it will charge up again when you stop using the phone. Very few of us use a wireless charger and a phone at the same time as it is bad due to heat! All Apple is doing is moderating charging so you do not damage your phone! Seems like a sensible solution bearing in mind you are unaware that wirelessly charging and using a phone at the same time is not a good choice! Even my Pixel 5 when used as a navigation will stop charging when hot so not to damage the phone/battery. Sad that Apple and Google has to build these in as consumers simply are unaware of these risks as your comment highlights! There are other methods if you simply do not care about heat and possible damage and clever solutions like the Apple charger may not be for you?
It's not able to charge the device because it's wireless charging at 5W. Even under the best conditions, you're losing power because wireless charging isn't efficient enough at 5W. Apple needs to boost that up to 15W at least if you want even a chance at charging and using the device at the same time. It's ok to say this thing sucks. It's using a Qi standard from like 10 years ago. Devices are way more power hungry now than they were 10 years ago.
I’ve always felt MagSafe was a gimmick, this just solidifies my belief. Only one UA-camr recommends this product, Lemon Boy (I can’t spell his name unfortunately, starts with N)
The only way of resolving the charging mess Apple is doing is to not buy their products unfortunately… Wireless charges slower, wastes more energy as heat, plus I can’t imagine charging every other device like headphones or a pc via that method, so for me the real solution is one cable to power them all, having one of those with multiple magnetic heads so I can override the difference between type c and lightning; Unfortunately it will not cover the watch puck, because Apple kindly decided that it needed it’s own cable integrated
I had the same result where my iPhone 12 Pro % was dropping despite it charging. I suspect the reason is because of the heat generated due to the charging. Somehow since it overheats when charging, more power is needed to keep the phone going. Hence its counter productive. The batt pack also traps heat on the phone… so… I returned it
what you aren't realizing is it slows the battery drop rate substantially even if it is dropping "while charging", besides, once the heat drops it just goes back up
I use this thing actually as a charging pad! Then when I feel like I’ll need extra battery when I’m out I’ll unplug this thing and drop it in my back pocket. When I get low, I’ll pop this on and voila.

@@jttnc, Yeah I think you’re right! If Apple had designed it that way, people wouldn’t be complaining about accessories sliding as easily off the phone as some currently do
@@jttnc you can buy your own MagSafe magnets online and they work in either orientation
I still charge with a wire, but only because wireless charging with an Otterbox Defender is hit and miss. Honestly wouldn’t mind the mini having a plastic back like the S21 so cases were less of an issue on the lower end
An included lighting cable would be ⚡️ Wild ⚡️ which you could pop out. 1. Would give you much more battery 🔋 life & 2. You would still have the convenience of 5w QI charging + 15w charges.
99$ 😒
MagSafe battery 🔋 packs ideal usage scenario :
1) when plugged in during idle when phone not in use
2) disconnect from phone when in use
3) prolong battery life of iPhone 13mini to full day of use
4) recharge at nite during sleep when there’s plenty of time
It is not designed to fast charge or top up phones
I ran into this issue almost immediately. It caused me to start ignoring the mag safe charger and just carry the lightning cable
I like the review, this product works perfectly for me because I use wired charging all the time.
Glad I heard your opinion on it, guess I’ll just keep charging my mini outside with a powerbank
I had a Moto Z3 with the moto mods and the mod it came with was a battery mod. That was amazing I could go two full days without charging. Battery mod almost never left my phone
The new GarageBand iOS update featuring TEN sound packs from professional music producers proves that Apple is NOT going portless, at least not on Pro models. Maybe they’ll go portless on “poor peasant models” but going portless on Pro models would go against their MASSIVE creator fanbase.
You talk like they care about legacy stuff that a small minority uses.
I will wait to buy one until it is updated to MagSafe pack 2… with usb c and just some kind of improvement (perhaps lighter or thinner), to go with my usb c iPhone 15 or 16
Want to wirelessly charge MagSafe battery?
Put iPhone 12 on chi-charger have a second iPhone 12 that’s always plugged into the wall -> place MagSafe battery on the phone to reverse wireless charge.
Tim : If people want to buy the MagSafe Battery Pack that's great. Hell, you'd think me and Craig were stood behind some people with a gun to their head forcing them to buy it. 🤦♂️😆
The MagSafe duo is the best product for me not this battery pack. I charge wirelessly everywhere. Only when I need a quick charge I use the lightning port with the cable of the MagSafe duo. (Yes I have a watch that I also charge at the same time)
I never once had a desire to buy this.
The Anker version is beautiful and looks like it was designed by Casio.
I got it and love it. How I use it is more to replace the MagSafe charger in my backpack. So when I go to work, I can charge my 12 pro max with MagSafe and take it with me and leave for extra battery.
I have one. Got 1 week ago. I am extremely happily satisfied with it!
My main power bank is PowerCore Metro Essential 20000. Which is 20,000 mAh.
Of topic but I really wish Apple would make a iPod shuffle with Apple Music kinda what Amazon has done with Spotify.
Charge past 90% is what iReviews need to show rather than stupid same old known features of decades
Bro obviously you don’t know how to use the product I hate when reviewers go on here and think they know about the product but don’t really spend time to learn the function of it “” number 1- it’s a battery extender not a power bank it is. Not designed to be a power bank it is designed to extend your battery number 2-it’s meant to be put on your phone when you phone is already fully charged by doing this it holds the power at 91 percent for about 9-10 hours with heavy use so it’s basically extending it
If they would just make a 1tb iPhone
Has Apple ever actually said they're planning for a magsafe-only future? I feel like you're taking this vision more seriously than Apple themselves lol
They’re sticking with lightning on iPhones until they’re not. Just deal with it!!!
Dude I too wanted to like this but for most of the reasons you said I am returning it.
Yeah black would have been dope 😅
What’s with Apple and everything wireless has to be white. Maybe in the future the battery will have colors too.
Yeah that was the first disappointment when I was using the iPhone and the battery went down while using it. I understand why but still sucks
Holding this for an extended time with the pro max was a little too heavy. One of iPhone 13 features is bigger battery and faster charging. 25W charging
That’s awesome .
I can fast change my iPhone 12 Pro Max with anker powercore 10k 45 percent in 30 min. I only need to do this once a day if I am using my phone a lot. I love this battery
Anker PowerCore 10000 PD Redux, 10000mAh Portable Charger USB-C Power Delivery (18W) Power Bank for iPhone 11/12 / Mini/Pro/Pro Max / 8 / X/XS Samsung S10, Pixel 3/3XL, iPad Pro 2018, and More
I personally don’t like the MagSafe power pack because of the value per $ you can get with other options and I personally don’t mind carrying around my 10,000 milliamp power back with a wireless charger, it does work for some people though and for those people I’m happy they enjoy it
So you can’t disconnect it from the iPhone and put the pack face down on a wireless charger and charge it on its own?
nah sadly you can't but its really great otherwise
Love my battery pack
For the average user they will not need more than 5 watts? If you play games or creator stuff then it is an issue, but these are probably niche for non-teen iPhone users. Not an issue!
@@andyH_England average? He literally said it cant charge it when using gps. Thats a average person thing the average person uses gps all the time on their phone even i do. Which means you need more then 5watts
@@buffalobmf …most of us using GPS in our car would not have the pack attached for obvious reasons, one being it will not fit on car mounts and also as we can charge our phone in the car! I see that as a moot point to just find excuses to dismiss it! When gaming, we should never be charging our phone and playing, again as phones do not have active cooling and wireless charging heats the phone even worse than wired does! You do need to have common sense and it is clear these restrictions Apple use are for reasons and if you do not want safety or protection for your battery/phone, then just buy an alternative that will not have the same measures!
@@andyH_England i would if the battery is low and i dont use car mounts
@@buffalobmf …just plug it into the car charger outlet if your battery is low!
When the iPhone gets hot MagSafe slows down charging speed that’s the reason why you weren’t getting any charging.
What if apple make AirPod pro 2 have a MagSafe / battery bank case ?
Wait until you use the charger in some heat.. it doesn’t work in that situation either
I rather buy a much higher capacity wireless charging batter pack than that Apple one
I'll stick to the 5000mah anker magsafe pack that uses type c. Idc if its chunky and not as elegant, I'm using it for convience, cost and utility not fashion and ergonomics
It is not MagSafe certified, the Anker is just Chi with magnets!
@@andyH_England my 3rd party battery pack gets the magsafe animation and it’s not anker
Edit: it doesn’t show battery life though but thats not necessary
@@fijiwill2237 …does it stop at 90% if you want it, or stop charging if too hot or has pass-through charging from the iPhone? If not then it is not MagSafe Certified!
@@andyH_England ok dude you can defend this $100 pos if you want, it still doesn’t hold a candle to the smart battery cases and the charging speeds are even worse than the “non magsafe certified” packs
Any notice iOS 5.2 drains the battery faster ?
"Hammock made of flesh" LMAO
This was funnier than hell I was laughing so hard❤🎉
It's not able to charge the device because it's wireless charging at 5W. Even under the best conditions, you're losing power because wireless charging isn't efficient enough at 5W. Apple needs to boost that up to 15W at least if you want even a chance at charging and using the device at the same time. It's ok to say this thing sucks. It's using a Qi standard from like 10 years ago. Devices are way more power hungry now than they were 10 years ago.
Still using lightning for AirPods Max so… might as well use the cable for the battery too ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
MagSafe in the Middle
Get the Anker one. Get them to sponsor!
using it with my mini and have found no problems with it
I don’t use wireless charging, I stick with the USB C to lightning so I guess this p’ battery pack works for me
They should of had flip out connectors to plug 🔌 into the wall
I’ve always felt MagSafe was a gimmick, this just solidifies my belief. Only one UA-camr recommends this product, Lemon Boy (I can’t spell his name unfortunately, starts with N)
Nah this product is superb, one of the best things I bought in months highly recommend it, Drews issues are due to iOS 15
The battery pack looks like a glorified wireless charger that happens to charge the phone a little bit without a cable.
his mustache is crooked
My 7 is at 100% but that’s cause I bought a new battery before it was at 50%
The only way of resolving the charging mess Apple is doing is to not buy their products unfortunately…
Wireless charges slower, wastes more energy as heat, plus I can’t imagine charging every other device like headphones or a pc via that method, so for me the real solution is one cable to power them all, having one of those with multiple magnetic heads so I can override the difference between type c and lightning;
Unfortunately it will not cover the watch puck, because Apple kindly decided that it needed it’s own cable integrated
Agreed with all your points! I’m disappointed in Apple 🍎
This item was not well thought out for sure!
Bring on IPhone 13 with the larger battery 🔋
Come on… YOU have to come down.
I can confirm that iOS 15 is to blame I think for a lot of your weirdness you noticed I do not seem to have these issues
It was huge on my mini, I hated it and returned it.
I had the same result where my iPhone 12 Pro % was dropping despite it charging. I suspect the reason is because of the heat generated due to the charging. Somehow since it overheats when charging, more power is needed to keep the phone going. Hence its counter productive. The batt pack also traps heat on the phone… so… I returned it
what you aren't realizing is it slows the battery drop rate substantially even if it is dropping "while charging", besides, once the heat drops it just goes back up
@@juliet4093 wait u mean if I cool
The phone down after the charge the % will suddenly go from 30% to say 50%?
I use this thing actually as a charging pad! Then when I feel like I’ll need extra battery when I’m out I’ll unplug this thing and drop it in my back pocket. When I get low, I’ll pop this on and voila.
The x was slippery. Prefer the flat side’s
I rather have 500 mah MagSafe battery if it a credit card thin.
Unrelated, but where’s ur Pixel 6 rant?
You and Max tech have similar opinions
Your car doesn’t have GPS
Drew’s moustache is as symmetrical as the former Smart Battery case’s lightning port.
But how do you really feel? :)
We don't HAVE to buy these products lol
Yes now you get it buy buy buy everything apple says to
Yes but if apple had more money they could of made it charge on magsafe ya
I agree 👌🏽but for me battery pack is go dead 💀 fast put on your phone long pair time
Glad I didn’t buy one.
