Hey Everyone! This is my transcribed interpretation of Guns N' Roses latest song, The General, performed at the Hollywood Bowl on November 2nd. If you haven't checked it out yet, it's out there on YT captured on various smart phones. Which is how I picked out the instrumentation in the song. Keep in mind, there is no studio release yet from GN'R. There may be some improvisation in their live take so the upcoming official release will differ I am sure. Just for this week, I wanted to do something a little different and I thought it would be fun. Don't worry, I am still working on your requests!
I really like the direction they took with this song. Richard Fortus parts are really creative and Slash is doing what he does best with the signature wah stuff and slitherly leads.

I'm trying to figure out what Slash does in the outro solo in the leaked studio version but I'm having a hard time because the audio quality is pretty bad. It's a killer solo and I wonder why Slash doesn't replicate the fast parts live.
Leaked studio version? Didn't know there was one. The smartphone live versions were all I had to go by 😂. Looking forward to hearing their studio cut.
@@Mr.Tabs.Guitar.Lessons The song was supposed to come out along with Perhaps on vinyl on October 27th but got delayed to December 8 due to poor quality of pressings. However, someone managed to leak it right on the original launch date along with another new track called "Monsters". They played this song live a few days after the leak was out.

Wow, very cool song. Some questions:
1) Do you double track the guitars or do you just play the rhythm once and then "double track" via your daw via copy/paste/shift it left/right channel/tweak the eq a little? Tone everywhere in this video is on point!
2) How do you switch "patches" seamlessly going from the clean to the dirty @1:07 (pre-chorus to chorus)? Are you doing that through something like a midi footswitch?
3) How are you doing the synth parts?
my guess is he's probably using either a footswitch, or editing cuts. you can sometimes see a fade in between clips, so I almost wonder if he's faded them together.
Post-processing in DAWs allows you to tweak the tone as much as you want after the recording is done.
For the double-track question, I’m pretty sure he plays it twice and pans it left once and right the next time. Copy-pasting doesn’t really work well.

Hey man,
1). I double track the guitars and never copy and paste. Like, the guitar you will always hear in the left speaker will always be recorded in a separate take from the guitar in the right. I tweak the tones later oftentimes.
2.). The switching of the patches is done by either a.) opening up a new channel in Logic Pro and further editing the tone or B.) by automating Amplitube from Logic itself. I am never using footswitches for these videos.
3.) I am doing the synth parts with the ES2 preset in Logic Pro for this song. It’s all click edit stuff for me and I am not using an external midi controller.

Hey mate, it would be even better if we could get some hints for other instruments, for tonality, not tabs just overall chords, fills on some parts where it's hard to hear, or understand, it's chromatic and low, in the intro and the bridge is a bit weird ! If you're going to do it again, now you have a better, studio version, give us some chord marks for the keys, especially the low ones! Thank you!😊

Wich effect isnfor the intro?
For all tones and effects I use software called Amplitube Max. This software contains many virtual amps and pedals. The plug-ins are available to all my Patreon subscribers so you that if you have Amplitube Max yourself, you can get exactly the same tone as me at home. I also offer screenshots of the virtual amps and pedals so that if you don’t have Amplitube you can attempt to replicate the tone using whatever equipment you have available.

Great work on the tabs. You can see the influence of Acl and the other GNR members. Has a style similar to absurd and skool. This is not Slash or duff, you can tell by the style of his songs when he plays with Myles Kennedy. Agreed that sounds boring.
