Yeah! I've hit the thrift store to get a jacket last time to do something like this.
Put some slits where u want the distressing and then throw it in the dryer...it’ll make it much easier to make those pulled string distressed marks

There's a night flea market I go to with my grandma at night and I've found good denim jackets in good condition and for $3 I already have 5 new ones xD I got from there you should try the flea market or when clothes are in clearance :)

I can't afford a distressed jacket. Maybe ill just hang up a normal jacket and throw rocks at for a few hours. That's how my logic works.

I wouldn't use a market, ended up using a paint brush and just some leather paint.
