- In this Hobby Cheating Tutorial, I take you through my method for painting Denim (Blue jeans). Denim is a fascinating cloth to paint because it gives us a chance to play with visible texture. I talk abut my methods and how you could change or adapt things for your own goals. Hope you enjoy!

Great video Vince, thanks! Also you should re-film this episode because having such a cool miniature and telling everybody that you can’t get it should be a crime. Also please tell them to let me get it. I’m Canadian if that helps 👍
Thanks! That just made so much sense! Now just to try it out on my current project...
Glad I could help!
A good and useful tutorial, but it would have been very handy to see your palette during the tutorial (maybe a second dedicated camera for Christmas? ;) ). Thanks for sharing it.
This one was a challenge as I was on my last piece of my preferred palette paper and it was an absolute wreck. In the future, I plan to include it in the shot and make sure you can see it.
Always Vince to the rescue, need to paint this specific type of fabric , just search for a HC video.
Hi Vince,
Do you have any tips regarding airbrushing Scale 75??? I just can't seem to get the consistency of the paint correct. Its either too much thinner and it goes everywhere or not enough and is spluttering as it leaves the brush.
Sure, so 2 thoughts. First, the Fanstasy & Games lines just go through easier, so I default to those if I can. If I need a true scale 75, I mix it outside the pot and my preferred ratio is about 2 drops of paint to 5 drops of thinner and 2 drops of water, then mix and test. It varies a little from color to color, but on 18PSI, that usually produces good results. Hope that helps.
Well done Vince, nice tutorial.
Thank you sir, much appreciated.
awsome video, i would like to see how you did the leather on the legs!!! if its posible :P thanx for your work
Thank you, I have a video with something like what I did here (slightly different paints, but same sort of techniques) Hope that helps. - ua-cam.com/video/VjG3kiTuu0A/v-deo.html
Great video as usual. Where did you get this cowgirl? I love it! I'm going to go paint me some denim...Thanks for sharing!
I got her from Dallas Madill who commissioned it. He's up in Canada. If you hit me on FB I can send you his way to see if they are still available, it's worth every penny.
Moin!
Thanks, great Video. That will helps me out to paint my EDEN Convoy Minis ;). Nice! I'm happy :D

Excellent, always happy to help.
Looks great. Thanks for the tutorial!
Happy to help as always.
Looks great. Where is the model from? Could you maybe add the model name to description?
Thank you, the model is from Dallas Madill and the AMPCA. It was a limited run, but I am not sure if some are still available.
Excellent video. I really need to start zenithal highlighting more. It seems like a big time saver.
Where is that model from btw?
It's a great time saver, my one hope in life is to get everyone to stop painting over black. The model is from Dallas Madill and the AMPCA.
I am looking to make Black colored geans instead of blue. After doing my brush on black primer and a dry brush zenithal on my new model I really like the look. It reminds me of black jeans and looks really good. How would you suggest I go after it? or should I experiment and surprise you?
A few subtle black, or brown/black glazes would be my thought, that will smooth out the texture just slightly and bring it more into black, but at the same time, feel free to experiment. :)
@@VinceVenturella Thank you for such a fast reply I posted the model on IG today. thanks for the video once again.
puts the first coat on and I'm like 'yep denim is done'
You can always stop anytime you like. ;)
@@VinceVenturella im still trying to learn that. keep wanting to do that little bit more then realsing I don't have the skills. great vid. thanks for helping us who are getting started
Could you swap the 2 blues with a dark and light green to create the same type of texture for some 1950's vintage us army od green fatigues (similar to an old green canvas bag type look)? Would the flesh tone and the grey still work or those need to be changes also? Up close, these fatigues look similar to denim (except green, of course) but wear in a similar manner as denim.
Totally, you could change over these to the greens and I would use a flesh tone (they work well with greens) and get that effect. That would look great I suspect.
Useful as usual. Thanks!
Thank you, glad to help as always.
She is looking awesome
Thank you sir, much appreciated.
I know that this is a super old video but what model/figure is this?
This was a limited print run from the Canadian miniature society, sadly not available anymore.
@@VinceVenturella would it be possible to get a link to the society to keep an eye out for any other ones?
