You can speak fluent Cantonese! I am so happy for you~ Just a kind reminder, idioms are not only 成語, but also 慣用語. 成語 is four words ,like people mountain people see(人山人海). But 你做初一 我做十五 and 你都有今日 are more than four words, so they are 慣用語. Keep going to learn Cantonese, support you!!!

A friend told me that " raining cats and dogs" originated many, many years ago when people lived in places with thatched roofs. When it started to rain heavily, the roofs would become unstable and the cats and dogs up on the roof would fall through!

Hi Grace, I saw your video in collaboration with Ayuk for Cantonese English challenge. For 'This morning have alcohol, this morning drunk - 今朝有酒今朝醉', you interpreted it correctly as this Chinese idiom really has such negative underlying meaning which sarcastically implies someone just enjoying the present moment without considering the future or consequence. This is the common interpretation nowadays. You are literally such a genius and will be bees knees in Cantonese/Chinese or anything else you want. Keep going, just Bob's your uncle for learning Cantonese. Ciao.

Technically 6 tones, but often the ending vowels P, T and K are considered tones 7-8-9. I've seen this in a couple reference doc and it's also how my cantonese teacher thought them to me.

Sometimes you need to think deeper to understand Cantonese idioms
for example, 屎坑關公 lit. means Kwan Yu in the toilet refers to you can't neither smell (because of the odour in the toilet, it's pronounced as same as 文 - scholar) nor play with a sword (舞, which is pronounced as same as 武 - martial)
