  • So, last night I watched the Lewis Capaldi documentary on Netflix and I had to make a quick video. First of all, if you haven't seen it, and you care about artists and the music industry, watch it. Second of all, I am so tired of the business model around music.
Fame, success and being a celebrity is a complicated subject, but it's clear that for anxious individuals, the pressure that comes with global succes and stardom can easily destroy a person.
This was a painful one to watch for me, as it feels all too familiar, and reminded me so much of the story of Avicii.
I really respect Lewis Capaldi for making this movie, and I sincerely hope he can remain both sane and healthy through it all.

Thank you for taking the time to comment!
I really feel like it's so important to speak openly about these things. If one feels ready of course.
It's a huge topic, and it's certainly not going anywhere just because some people want to pretend like it's not there. I bet Lewis Capaldi has helped so many by putting out this movie.
I hope you're having a great day and thanks again for your comment.

I need to watch this one! In all honesty it's not only on the music business. But I agree with you !

You do! That's true, it's pretty much everywhere, and we're all forced into the business of trying to sell ourselves and our skills to the market, regardless of how bad of a fit that is for our mental health.

@@heitstrengningmusic Competition is not always bad. Unfortunately, it's the system we have. In order to survive, you have to be part of it. On the bright side I think this kind of documentaries and initiatives on the last decade really have improved the literacy of society in mental health. We can only hope that with time things improve for everyone!

@@clinicallysane That's very true. And I agree that competition is not bad and it's probably always inevitable anyway. In fact, I think competition probably sparks some of the greatest creative work in people, as we have seen in many rivalries across many fields.
It's more the abuse of individuals for greater financial gains, by people that have very little to do with the creative process, or with little regard for the artist's well-being (other than as a means for the label etc), that I'm talking about in this video.

I know right! I'm glad we're getting to see more of this side of things, because I think it's important for people to understand, especially young people.
