- Oscar-nominated, Golden Globe and Emmy-winning superstar Burt Reynolds ("Boogie Nights," "Evening Shade") is Stroker Ace, a fast-living, hard-driving stock car racer whose high spirited antics finally catch up with him when he's forced into the clutches of a greedy fried chicken magnate, who wants him for all he's worth, both on and off the track. Co-starring Reynolds' "Deliverance" co-star, Ned Beatty. MPAA Rating: PG (c) 1983 A Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. All Rights Reserved #Trailer #WB
I love this movie! July 3, 1983: Stroker Ace was released.
RIP!
This should be Smokey and the Bandit 3
Yep, 'The Bandit goes to NASCAR'
Oh what a disgrace that was wasn’t it
A true f****** classic!

He turned down both Terms of Endearment and a bigger role in Smokey & The Bandit 3 for this. FOR THIS.
He wanted to meet Loni?
You make a compelling point, @@elizabethmcleod246, but still......
and it's a win for us.
Loni Anderson's perfect looking body was the highlight of this movie.
Kinda weird that they used "Texas Bound and Flyin", which was the Smokey 2 theme
It was because of this film that Burt was J. K. Rowling's FIRST pick for Voldemort.
Strokey and the Bandit
Not a very good movie but it is Burt. Long may your legacy continue.
Does anyone know who built the cars, who drove them back then and whether the original stock cars still exist?
I know that a few NASCAR drivers from back then did cameos in the movie so since they are professional drivers, they might’ve been the ones doing the driving, but I’m not 100% sure on that.
@@nibora7953I guess so. I only know who was driving the DOT cars back in 1989. There's much more info about Days of thunder. So it would be awesome to know more about Stroker Ace. 🙂
Is this the movie with the pet orangutan named Clyde?
You're thinking of Every Which Way but Loose with Clint Eastwood.

Burt Reynolds was a highly capable actor and a first rate movie director, but he destroyed his career with Stroker Ace. His big screen career never recovered from it.
Phil Hatfield he did it as a favour to Hal Needam and turned down the Jack Nicholson role in Terms of Endearment for it. Bert, sadly, didn't seem to have the same talent for choosing projects as he did in front of the camera. RIP Bert.
As bad as Stroker Ace was, it wasn't even Hal Needham's worst picture; that honor would go to 1982's, Megaforce. Try watching these two back to back!
I mean in the early 80s he had a sting of unsuccessful movies…..But at that point I think he wasn’t thinking of “I need an Oscar project” it was “Oh a movie with fast cars and my friends and lots of stunts”
Well, the line from the film says it all: "I've done some dumb things in my life; this is the dumbest".
@@stevenroberts5741 You're right about that. Navajo Joe. haha
