Was stationed in Newfoundland from March 1964 till September 1965. (AIR FORCE) A beautiful island. I trekked long and far. I once walked down a running creek that had boulders in it. Walked the boulders for a mile or so, fished a bit, and never got wet. AMAZING!
This is the first episode of yours that I watched. I enjoyed it. I saw under the window a piece of cardboard with the Kruger Forest Products Label. Small world. I worked for them for over 30years. I am retired now. Take care and stay safe. Keep the videos coming.
Oh you fun, enjoyment is just beginning. I am am happy for you your friends, family, your hours of enjoyment will be priceless, the piece, quiet, nothing like it. I live my life like it on a lake nothing but enjoyment no matter the weather it is just so wonderful. I am grateful, thankful, there is always something of interest to do never a dull moment. You have the fishing, boating, animals, exploring, sun rising, sunsets , moon lit nights to enjoy, it will be sheer enjoyment, happy for you. I am looking forward to watching your progress. Thank you for sharing !!!.
My maternal grand parents were french Canadian who immigrated to upper peninsula of Michigan. Every weekend grandmother always made extra bread for fried bread. They called the fried bread doegods. They were so good!!! Pull the hot bread apart and spread butter on the bread and sprinkle a little sugar. They are a wonderful childhood memory.
I like all the windows, especially the lake view. I've been to many cabins that have beautiful scenery all around them ,but they have tiny windows, you have to stand up to see out. Thanks for the video.
Nice find :) A little cleaning up you will have a nice place there, Love that table ! Nice to have wood cookstove but that other old stove will surely keep you warm there, Awesome soup and fry bread with carrots to end a good day !
awsome little cabin, I retired from the military 12 years ago and purchased a cabin in WMA 07, it also required a ton of work, but it is living the dream when i'm in there. enjoy your little piece of heaven
Great content, Im a cabin dweller full time in the Mts. of North Carolina, also bought a neglected cabin and after three years have it just the way i like it..will follow your series faithfully, Peace Brother..........
Nice Tour of your cabin.. I would suggest extending your chimney a couple of feet and you will get a better exhaust draw and it will keep snow from accumulating around the exhaust pipe. Great Video!!!
Great video. We use Campbell 's beef consomme. Nice cabin. Some people want a big car and big house. Other people want to get away from those people and live in a small cabin in the woods. Enjoy the flats bye. 👍👍👍👍
Nice cabin and a beautiful spot I am sure you will get lots of enjoyment being there good job with the done shots French onion soup looked great thanks for the tour of the cabin enjoyed watching take care and congratulations
Hello from Indiana USA. Just found this video at 4am, January 23, 2023. Really enjoyed watching. Going to follow you. Thanks for sharing this video with me 😊.
Just a thought, when you have to clean the flue of one stove, you can use the other one. Or worse, having to replace a section of stove pipe, or repair the roof opening. Weather may not permit you to do that for a while, so having the second stove loaded and ready to go is important. Particularly if things happen during winter weather. Congrats! Look forward to seeing more as you go!
Hello, from Roy in BC. I love your cabin and thank you for sharing. The heated outhouse is a fabulous feature. I would like to share that I also had 2 stoves, started with the wood burning cook stove, then plumbed another as the cook stove wasn't as efficient for heat. Maybe your stove is more efficient as mine, just suggesting you test each of their efficiency before deciding to remove one. Good luck and God bless, Roy.
Congratulations on your purchase. Fixing it up the way you want it will keep you busy but it will be rewarding. It will make a good base camp for all things outdoors. Enjoy it.
Hello from Ohio, USA!!! Looking forward to viewing your future adventures and the renovations to this great cabin. Blessings always from your new subscriber!!!
Beautiful video. I love your huntin shack. And I absolutely love French onion soup. I spend a lot of time in northern Wisco hunting and fishing. We have a cabin on two sisters lake and our Chicago family has been enjoying it for 50!years. I love it up there. Love your recipe and learned about “toutins” ( I’m sure I screwed up spelling). Enjoy your cabin. I love your videos. Thank you.
Love that wolf fish poster. I remember this day like it was yesterday, in the bay with my dad as a kid. Reeled in a monster fish that looked like it had a human head and eel body. Dad yells don’t try to grab it, “it will bite your hand off”. I’ll never forget those impressive fish. It bit onto the net handle and we had to beat it off the side of the boat. Bent the metal handle
I’d keep both. Stoves . (The second stove is a lovely sit round the fire spot) Just re configure the interior. And yes take the side door out , sofa to big a build an L or u shaped seating round your table , A couple of free standing comfortable fireside chairs ,you will be lost without a counter you have what’s important two bedrooms is fantastic! Love your soup recipe 😊. Out door shower is great particularly when you have a few people , needing privacy god luck with your upgrade . 😊
Toutens with loads of butter and Crosby,s fancy molasses . My wife is Canadian and I was introduced to this new menu . Also Newfie steak dinner . That's another favorite. Never had food like that in England . We live in Nova Scotia and we have family in Newfoundland. I could live there in a heartbeat.
Growing up Mom made bread and always kept a bit aside for frying although she would make a hole in the middle like a doughnut it was great with syrup or molasses. We are French Canadian and we called them Marie Fendue. Thanks for the memories!
Nice setting for your cabin. I'm glad I found your channel so I can have the fun of seeing what you are going to do with it. It will probably be a lovely spot in the summer with being so close to the water. Anyway, I look forward to seeing the videos as you go along. I subscribed to I won't miss the next video. Have fun with your new cabin.
Congrats on the new spot. Looks dandy. Them enterprise stoves are great for cooking but the heat don’t last over night. Firebox is really small on them. Good luck with the Reno’s. Can’t wait to see more videos of the cabin. Cheers.
I love the strange meal with carrots with sour cream with bacon, donuts with molasses, and what seems to be an excellent French onion soup with dried baguette/bagel chips. You just need some Bourbon.
Congratulations on the new cabin. Can't wait for more video's on the renovations and quality time spent doing it. Enterprise stves made just across the NS/NB border in Sackville NB. :)The Enterprise will NOT keep the cabin warm enough. Won't hold enough wood.
The new cookstoves have HUGE fireboxes (Pioneer Princess, Hico, Bakers Choice, Esse, a few others). They aren't cheap however. I have prob at least a dozen old school ones here. From the 1930-1950s a few companies made multi fuel stoces, wood/coal AND propane/NG. I have two Kalamazoo Pilgrams like that. Your cold enough in that latitude to make a "Russian Stove" also known as a Masonry Stove. The idea is to keep ALL the thermal mass INSIDE the building envelop
"I've never seen an outhouse with a woodstove"... Joe and Zach's Survival Channel. Their Northern Minnesota lakeside cabin (called "the tent" because 20 years ago it started out as a walled tent) is very similar to yours, and for over 12 years they've been chronicling the evolution of their cabin and the growth of Joe's children and grandchildren. I'm watching your channel BECAUSE of the similarity to their channel.
Really cool cabin, looks so cozy with the warm stove and snow outside. Loved to of had a bowl of that French onion soup. Looked really good. Look forward to future up dates. Really cool out house with the small stove, take care and stay warm and cozy.
Hey Newfie friend. I just wanted to say that the woodstove looks like a fisher baby bear woodstove with a homemade door on it. i can tell by the shape and feet on it. They are a very sought after woodstove. You wont find any other stove as good as a fisher. They pump the heat. Thanks for the video cheers from Ontario
Easier today living off grid I like the jackery generators all u need for fuel is sun but I think I would have a small generator for those cloudy days when the solar panels won't work.i am watching how u are doing your french onion soup we my wife and I love it but every time we make it seems there is still something missing enjoy your new spot.
1st video I’ve seen of yours, and I like it. I’m about to start a little cleanup and reno of a family HuntCamp my brother and I are taking over, that is very much like yours, but in Ont. Gotta love the backcountry and these old Camps !! Enjoy and be safe ! 🌲❄️🐟🦦 Enjoy
Enjoying all your videos. Today I’m making French onion soup, my husband liked the way you made it, so I thought I’d give it a try. First off I didn’t cut them like you said…oh well, hope it’s going to come out ok anyway. Thanks for sharing your unique recipes.
Once in a great while, the youtube suggestion page actual suggests a video I really enjoy. Like this one! Subscribed.

I was fooled once with that line.
Lol
I’ve been to Newfoundland 3 summers in a row from 2015 thru 2018. Motorcycle touring. The bugs are amazing and so is the scenery.
