It’s time to start painting and I start with the door jams and the underside of the bonnet. #vk #v8 #brock #hdt #bluemeanie #blue #holden #commodore #bathurst
Excellent job, at tribute to good preparation. I found large plastic drop sheets make a good temp ceiling and covered all walls all tools. It’s a bit time consuming but it stops unwanted guests and most of the dust.
Keep up the good work, your 100% right with prep work, get lazy and it will show through. Make sure that there is no wind coming through the bottom of the garage doors, get everything ready the day before, then use a spray bottle with soapy water and dampen the floor that will keep some of the dust down when your walking around spraying.
Normally you would paint the car completely first, then do your blackouts over the blue. This then allows you to line up the paint with your doors when installed. You would also paint your rear taillight blackout at this time. I let runs dry out a couple of weeks, sand out and blend in.
@@TAVOTravsDIYGarage yeah it will be more masking later and the black pouts on the door jambs might not line up with the doors. Maybe ask your brother a few more questions if he is a painter. He would of told you to do a lot of things differently.
@Louie2309 Yes brother is a painter but he don’t like to give up any tricks of the trade. I’m going to repaint the doors, I’ll just match them up to the car now.
Hey mate, I've been an arborist for about 20 years. Do you have Norfolk island pine trees anywhere near you? they look like seeds from those. Whatever the case, they defiantly look like tree seeds to me!
Great prep and painting 👌👌
Looking good old mate.
Cheers mate 🍻
Nice mate 👍🏻
Thanks mate 👍🏻

Certainly is.

Yep correct 👍🏻 I did all that you mentioned except wet the floor. Will do that in future.
Nice work mate 👍🏻
Thanks buddy 👍🏻
Nice job mate just goes to show you can do anything if you have a go 👍🏻
Thanks mate. It sure does, a half decent spray gun also goes a long way. 👍🏻
Looks as though it come up fairly decent.
Better than anything I’ve ever done before.

That sounds logical, unfortunately that’s not how my brain works.

Your forgot couple spots On door jams ?
Which bits did I forget?
So........ will it be finished this year?
If all goes to plan, it could be very close to finished by the end of the year yes….
Blue nostril hairs?? My struggle is dirt etc.
Dirt dust rust, everything is a struggle mate.

I don’t think so, the neighbours at the back have a tropical garden around their pool. Could be that maybe 🤷🏻♂️
Are you going to paint the rest of the car yourself?
That’s the plan going forward mate.
Why don’t you paint it the original colour and do a replica vk calais director
Yeah I coulda done that but I’m not a big fan of the green. Blue is much better.
2k paint is the only way to go. Acrylic is just old technology, doesnt come out as nice, not as durable, requires more maintenance.
Completely agree 👍🏻 I wish I had come to my senses earlier.
