In 1990's civil engineers were in a lot of demand and it was a very respected position as well. It is true that it is a hardship job just like petroleum engineering jobs.
Also there is a lot of opportunities for civil engineers in GCC countries like Saudi Arabia.

Switched to Mechanical in the end.
Mechanical has a plethora of subfields literally:
Manufacturing engineering
Process engineering
Vehicle engineering
Energy engineering
Design engineering
Nuclear Engineering
Thermal engineering
Mechatronics engineering
Biomedical Engineering
Materials engineering.,etc
Starting with:
Metallurgical engineering,Polymer engineering,Ceramic Engineering,Nano-engineering are all branches of Materials engineering which itself is a branch of Manufacturing engineering and which itself is a subfield of Mechanical.
Industrial Engineering is a branch of Manufacturing engineering which itself is a subfield of Mechanical.
Chemical engineering is subset of Process engineering which is a sister field of Manufacturing engineering but still is a subfield of Mechanical.(Chemical engineering has subfields like Petroleum engineering, Food engineering so they also become subfields of Mechanical).
Vehicle Engineering tends to have three subsets:
1:Aerospace engineering
2:Marine engineering
3:Automotive engineering
Aerospace has subfields like Aeronautical engineering, astronautical engineering and aviation engineering.
Marine engineering has subfields like Naval engineering.
Energy engineering is a branch of both Electrical and Mechanical engineering. It further has subfields like Power engineering.
Mechatronics engineering has a subfield known as Robotics engineering.Mechatronics is also a subfield of Mechanical.
There's also Electromechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering and Acoustics engineering which are separate subfields of MechanicalE.
It's an amazing field bro.That said, if you do it from an IIT/NIT.
Remember this, engineering is not like CS. In engineering your degree matters a whole lot(like where you did your degree from), along with skills.

AI is gonna take the future bruh...as of my knowledge only private colleges are offering AI except that of IITs. If you can afford a good private college for sure go for AI

Least knowledge about ECE branch. There is no ECE branch exist in IIT BOMBAY, KANPUR & MADRAS Except IIT ROORKEE, KHARAGPUR & DHANBAD. Please don't mislead. In ece there is also programming language and coding and option are always open for software and core both.
