Seeing Markiplier talk for 20 minutes about how he was right and is a prophet is probably the best thing to come out of this. Sucks for the creator, though.
@copuim_dealer The new one, that Markiplier(MP) made after the MegaLag(ML) video dropped, where he(MP) was hoping he(ML) was talking about him(MP), when MegaLag said "except one"... and the fact that he (MP) is hoping he (MP) will get mentioned in the second or third part. Thing is, a lot of people were okay with their data being mined and sold off to advertisers. That's, unfortunately, a given nowadays for pretty much any free product, so a lot of people put up with it. This ploy is far more insidious, imo.
Avoid the PIE adblocker. Made by the same ppl behind Huney, offers same ridiculous incentives, "Use us to avoid ads, or watch them at your leisure and get paid." Big fat NOPE.
A while back, Markiplier's podcast(Distractible) did an episode on conspiracy theories. Mark mentioned he had one that he wasn't going to say on air because he didn't want to be judged for it... I wonder if this was it...
33:27 I love Markiplier SO MUCH! He knows his sh*t! His discernment is amazing! He also cares about his audience. Won't take brand deals that he doesn't believe in. I can't remember the last time I saw a Markiplier video on UA-cam that was sponsored by something. (Now his Dostractible podcast is different, but he doesn't choose the sponsors for that.)
I think one of my all-time favorite photos I have is when I used Honey for a purchase, there was confetti all over the screen, they were telling me how amazing of a deal I got. Brother, I saved 1 american penny. 1 cent.
It should be noted that Linus was not the sole exception that discovered their bad behaviour and didn't bother calling them out, but rather that Megalag did not realise/include the context of this ruse having been discovered in the tech influencer space on a somewhat large scale (relative to the niche community). Linus has stated that he did not feel the need to specifically make the announcement when they were not the groundbreaking party and when they (at the time) only knew about the affiliate poaching, which is not really a consumer/user facing issue, which is what they would have made some sort of content for.
Just to be even more clear. Linus didn't "bother" to call them out because they were publicly outed by someone else and didn't feel the need to repeat it as it didn't affect the consumer.
What’s even funnier is that the same people behind honey made an Adblock which is advertised as:”block ads, get money” found a Reddit post about it and people asking if it’s a scam. Guess who showed up on the Reddit to defend it? The OWNER of Honey. 2 months ago he replied to that post reassuring that it was legit and nothing to worry about. 200 replies later, I get to the replies from a week ago where everyone starts clowning on him. So worth the 7 minutes it took to get to them.
I like the old saying "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." I always knew Honey was some kind of scam but now I know how they pull it off.
you know what's also wildly suspiscious? youtube shoving pie ads down everybody's throats after they've just made a big hoopla about how terrible ad blocks are. and guess who owns pie? HONEY. absolute criminal scammers.
31:30 This is basically all microtransaction deals. There are no "discounts" because everything that cost money on these stores are arbitrary numbers. "Get a free skin with this bundle"? No, you're not getting a free skin with that bundle, because you have to buy it to get it, it isn't free at all. So many people fall for this crap it baffles me. I have a friend who bought an Overwatch 2 bundle because it had a "free skin"... he doesn't even play that character... Brilliant f-ing manipulation tactics. Fooling m*rons left right and center.
@@accuratememin you would be surprised how stupidly strict these filters get now. sometimes they dont even go for comments with a lot of swear words, they go for comments with one word that can be seen as offensive.
I live on the North Shore of Lake Ontario and I have to back what you said about the snow. When I was a kid, 20 years ago, we got a decent bit of snow and a white Christmas. By the time I was in highschool. Barely any snow in winter, at least one nasty ass ice storm a winter and we had a Tornado go through freaking Vaughn which, if you don't know, is part of the GTA and in a bloody city complex. If global warming isn't real, why is the weather getting so crazy and where did winter go?
7:40 That doesn't surprise me at all. I knew there had to be a way for Honey to make money from the transaction. Typically with discount codes, the the "commission" is made by people using the code, in exchange that the person distributing the code is promoting said code and thus the product and platform it's sold on. But Honey doesn't promote anything, and only comes in play at checkout, after you've already made the decision to buy that product on that platform.
I now need to know if Paypal just owns honey, or if paypal has been directly handling honey. I have other means of buying stuff online without paypal and I will drop them so fast
Idk why he didn't call the scamming of the company for what it is. That's straight up blackmailing. "If you don't partner with us, you gonna loose money because users get bigger discounts on your shop"
31:00 This concept of "No such thing as a free lunch" is just as harmful as it is informative. People use the same argument against Single Payer Healthcare in the US, but the reality is you're already paying double the cost of any other nation just to get ripped off anyway. Not only is Single Payer actually free, it's actually putting money back in your pocket; especially if they run it on a progressive tax system where only the top tax brackets pay 60% of their income for these benefits, and the average worker is far more likely to pay LESS in taxes AND FEES than their American counterparts.
With LTT and not going public on their channel I wonder if the company itself had to do something like an NDA but as far as the employees themselves never signed so as long as they don't talk about it under the LTT name they're fine
I had the same guts as Mark😂. When you think "nothing in life is free" your guts starts to tell that "hey man, ¿you see this honey thing?, yeah, ¿sounds good right?.. maybe too good". But man, Mark wtf, he even give the year, what a prophet😂😂😂
Honey codes worked like 7 years ago, but even then it was only ever like 1 out of 5. They've simply been reposting old codes ever since and it was painfully obvious.
Thanks for the breakdown! I have a quick question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
Just so anyone unfamiliar with this SCAM is aware, if you use this phrase to open the wallet, it will open an actual wallet. However you can't withdraw anything without paying fees first, which requires you to add money to the account. Once this has been done, the scammers will then drain the account before you can withdraw anything, meaning they get to keep the money you transferred and you get nothing. They have priority over the account so even if you got to the withdrawal stage before the draining finished, you actually wouldn't be able to do anything until they're done.
Sad part is that it doesn't matter if you were sponsored by them or not. You can still get your commission taken even though you didn't have anything to do with them.

I wonder how these influencers feel now. They promote a product that actually ends up biting them in the back PLUS tons of people who had nothing to do with Honey. Because they didn't do research...
how do you research that if you are youtuber that buys woman clothes? like did you go and inspect the cookies of every thing u go on to see if it is bad or something? or what about people and promoters that are doing fashion, art, blogs, traveling and many other things that doesnt require pc skills?
I mean when it first came out nobody knew anything was wrong with it really. It's not like youtubers are just gonna randomly start manually monitoring their cookies when clicking affiliate links, especially if they're not knowledgeable about the internet. The only thing that was really suspicious was the fact that they seemed to be handing out alot of money while providing an allegedly 'free' product, while still making a profit, but there still wasn't alot of proof out there.

@Narinjas i know the video it was mmamm #140 and he talked about it for like 24 minutes
I'm just talking about the original clip from 2020
RIGHT! Mark is amazing!
Reminds me of when he streamed that one dark web game with real footage of murdered kids
friendly reminder for everyone pie the new ad blocker youtube is trying to shove down people's throats is also owned by honey
Not owned by Honey, remember Paypal bought it. This is the co-founder of Honey that is now part of PIE and do not trust that BS at all!!
no clue, I'm using two adblockers at once and haven't gotten a single ad in like 5 months since I downloaded a second one.
Pie has been the only ad to occasionally break through Ublock Origin on my laptop, it's been alittle annoying
Damn really? I use pie just for the twitch focused adblock and I like it

He went on a honey rant in 2019 when doing his Damien breakdown, he wasn’t hiding his opinion my guy
the craziest part about this all is that the new pie adblocker is made by the same people who made honey
