this works but I had to do it a few times to make it work. The problem I was heaving was when I was changing smart collision from off to on nothing was happening for me. If you look on the video when he changes smart colisions from of to on the mesh in the viewport turns transparen, for me this didnt happen. I noticed that there was a line of code typed in in phyton at the bottom left of the screen and when I delated this line of text and then turned the collisions from off to on it worked: my mesh turned transparent. I hope this helps someone.
i will never understand this. why they can't make any of these systems simpler to use is beyond me. you're absolutely right - feels like i'm doing something i'm not really supposed to. this stuff is so complex and unintuitive that it doesn't work half the time even when you have someone hold your hand and walk you through it. i really want to use stuff like this, but how the hell are you supposed to remember this, not to mention the countless other features needed to make a rig?
