- Northrop Grumman has recently introduced an innovative addition to underwater drone technology.
Named the Manta Ray, this unmanned underwater vehicle not only mirrors the form of its namesake but also symbolizes a significant leap in capability for extended-range military operations. Developed over a span of four years for DARPA, this project integrates advanced technologies, including the ability to harness energy from the ocean.
In this video, we’re taking a closer look at Northrop Grumman’s latest advancement in uncrewed underwater vehicles, providing an initial glimpse into the capabilities and potential applications of this new class of underwater drones.

I’m just waiting for the day they finally come forward and show us the “Tic-Tac” they’ve been playing with for years! Anyone else?👀😂
All the ufos
Probably a giant space laser pointer
Don't tell me you believe humans have developed technology that exceeds today's by 100 years lmfao. There is zero chance that the military have secretly made dozens of breakthroughs in many corners of science. The Tic-Tac is not from this earth and is most certainly not made by humans.
Yep it'll probably be revealed as
8th or 9th gen fighters
Won't be suprised
We don't possess that type of technology. Forward and lateral propulsions without losing speed, even under water? I think not. That's aliens.
The Flying Wing, the B-2, the B-21 and now the stealthy Manta Ray roaming the ocean depths. Some of the reasons why people like to work in the Engineering Department at Northrop-Grumman. Relentless innovation. A Northrop retired guy.
I have friends who work there, and they are very proud to be part of the Northrup Grumman team.
They’re part of DARPA 🇺🇸
Northrop Engineering! Outstanding!!!!❤️
Don’t get me wrong …I love these videos and learning about this stuff. However part of me wishes information like this was held even tighter as to keep adversaries totally in the dark.
China
If these videos are now public is just because these are already considered old technology for the US military and you can be sure they have something way much powerful in their fleet that you may know about it in 10 or 15 years. 🙂
This is excellent, glad we have people like those at Northrup Grumman to keep the U.S. safe.
and stealing humanity's secret knowledge of extraterrestrials from the public, along with the other MIC aero groups =*(
Nature inspires engineering.
As well as life itself
Nope, engineering misunderstands nature.
Some next level tech
If you are seeing this now it's 20 years old and already being replaced by something more viable - WILD.
Wow, an Absolutely Amazing invention, i.e. Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUV)!
Metal Gear RAY irl.
Arsenal Gear*
Ray were the bipedals
is it able to blow up some pipelines?
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea....60 years later.
I go to Northrop twice a week for work, as a contractor. I knew it was top secret government research stuff, but had no idea what. It took months to get a badge, and I am not allowed to take it with me! Lots of armed guards, and am buzzed through each door remotely.
Cant mankind do domething thats not evil to people
@@Elioha-gt8pu Man kind has done tons of stuff that's not evil.
The Man Who Killed Millions and Saved Billions - Fritz Haber
Fritz Haber was a German chemist, who made food from air. He invented the Haber-Bosch process that takes nitrogen from the air and turns it into fertilizer, feeding billions.
Hard to tell what technology will be safe and what will be dangerous. Just gotta dive into all of it friend.
Meanwhile!
What invention has had the most negative impact on the world?
Plastic! You are probably using some right now. Turns out the things you think are good can be bad, the things you think are bad can be good...
Such is the nature of discovery.
I don't get it: Why use wings, when you already have sufficient lift/bouyancy? When not required for thrust, like in the case of the Manta Ray, wings indicate that the contraption needs them for lift, and being so much heavier than water is that large wings are required, is an inherently bad idea.
I dont know whether i would he happy or sad if they named the first fleet of these the: Irwin Class 🤣
Is this the UFO underwater that jet pilot David Fravour saw?
This explains all of the Underwater UFOs known as Submerged Unidentified Object
Giant squid says what....
I'm saying that this thing can also fly
Not yet, give them some time and it will, or something comparable
What sort of armament do they expect it to carry? Or is this just a reconnaissance tool or ‘suicide’ drone?
The strategies of warfare are changing before our very eyes. The war in ukraine is giving us a bird's eye view on how much this is happening.
Come Aboard by swiping one's Apple Watch.
So does this mean we can finally work from home like all the civilians did during COVID or are they just going to hire contractors to operate these 😂
Looks trans medium, who knows what's inside it.
I just want a small rebreather so I can spend hours under water
Unfortunately physics says no. Although, if you're willing to accept an umbilical you could stay under effectively as long as you could hold out without food. Technically it is possible to stay under indefinitely, but that requires no rebreather, or umbilical.....
Defense
Dollars to doughnuts it doesnt sit on the bottom (because of the suction effect when you lose buoyancy on one side of your vessel....ask a submariner). Itll probably deploy a cylinder capped on one end that it pushes into the mud, then pumps the water out allowing the ocean pressure to push it deeper into the mud. Platforms use this type of anchor all the time. Want your anchor back? Just pump water back into it and iit pops right out. However, that little water current energy harvesting flyer is pretty neat! Though one wonders why not just use an RTG..... Sure there wont be enough energy to charge and swim, but it can 'hibernate' and charge.... Also, what is its propulsion system supposed to be? Those 4 props on the wing tips? Itd be interesting if they tried magnetohydrodynamics again, but as I understand it that tech has too many issues to be reliable and grunt proof..... And why doesnt if flap its wings?!?! What was the point of all that research into how fish swim?!?!
Old tech for a naive planet lol
You a martian or are you just a waffling schizo?
Only problem will be fishing nets used by foreign navies to capture and duplicate
The UUV won't allowed that to happen it will destroy that net this is not a animal it's a drone with weapons and lmone of the weapons will equipped lazers. This is all for the NGAD. The NGAD can control its swarn drones and underwater drones to find and target the enemies
Similar to submarines fishing nets and mines and other Manta's would be avoidable via AI and various types of on-board sensors.
Stop it. You're in a UA-cam comment section, acting as if you know more than billion dollar defense companies.
@@timbodnar6711 Hello naive person. Don't you recall the stealth drones the Iranians were able to jam and duplicate. You know nothing about anything apparently. Defense companies are a business, the bottom line for them is money . Get out of your basement once in a while.
Id like to see Stephanie Tompkins help me block the sound in my home i bought for my disabilities. Why have geoengineering that harms the people that served and sacrificed 3 decades? The radar is harmful, and the house has loose gas fittings from the shaking. I think there should be accountability for this chaos she is causing.
Wtf? You have a mental health professional on call?
Haha I bet these drones will run out of power all the time and fail at deep depths. Not much of a payload capability and maintaining a high speed would only be possible at short distances before losing power
"Millions of years"? LOL!😂😅🤣
Our oldest manuscripts contained in today's Bibles clearly State this world is less than 7,000 years old, which means God created all humans animals and this planet and solar system within that time frame, as the Book of Genesis testifies.
Religion is fake.
I'm pretty sure you are being sarcastic lol
Book of Genesis doesn't explained what is Nuclear fusion and fission which mean bible, torah and koran are just fairytale.
7k years? thanks for letting me know. You learn something every day. Whether it's right or wrong...LOL!!!
