My cousin went to school with all of them in Frankenmuth and she said they’re the coolest and nicest people she ever knew I’m glad they’re going far!
And that gives you a share of their talent?

That's awesome. I didn't know they were from Michigan. Lots of bands coming out of here recently.
Just heard this song for the first time in the car today. I had 1974 flashbacks. Hard. I raced home to see what Zeppelin song it was that I was unfamiliar with. Glad to see people still producing music in this genre. Damn I miss the 70s. Rock on Greta Van Fleet.
pumpupthevolume yeah, first time I heard one of their songs on the radio ( I believe it was safari song) I thought zeppelin had put out a new album

@@KarenBearer-lb2jrseen them 5 times now!! I could follow them anywhere!!💕🤘
Let's not forget about the bass and the drums. They are killer too
That bass is fat af !!!
@AngryMongol: The bass player is the best musician in the band. He's fantastic. Drummer is good and solid, the guitarist has good riffs and great tone. He needs a few more tricks to carry a show for two hours, he'll learn.
@@flugplatz21 I'd say Jake and Sam are equal musicians, if not Jake being better. He can carry on solos for 15+ minutes without losing anyone's attention. If anything, Danny could put some work in, but then again he's a guitarist at heart not a drummer
@@julianpottermusic Nice thoughts, Julian. I don't really know Danny's history, but guitar and drums have a well documented cross over of players. I'd imagine Tommy Bolin was right in that the picking and hi hat hand get really strong, and guitar is a rhythm, and some say percussion instrument, anyway. I've seen them once, and will admit to having near impossible standards. I want a guitarist to keep me interested and engaged for two hours. Once I see the same pattern or shape three times in a show, I start to notice it. GVF is just good enough, and have a sound, that places them in the unfortunate position of being compared to some of the greatest ever. I won't fault them for not living up to it. Given time and the right settings, we'll see music from at least Jake and Sam for a long time.
they are the band itself
I'm 66 and grew up on Zeppelin, Purple et al and these are the real deal. They make an old man very very happy.

I listened to music through the same period and it was great, but it was then and this is now. I, personally, don't want a shit Rush tribute band - especially one that tries to channel the tedious first album. There is fantastic rock music being made now.
I discovered this band at the Lollapalooza couple of days ago in Mumbai. I was watching someone else perform but I was just drawn to their music and went to their stage. The thing about these guys is that they ARE of that sound. They aren't some cover band, they aren't copying anything, they are creating original music in the way they are meant to, this is their sound. They are in the same league of those music giants decades old and they're bringing that kind of music back to life in a fresh new way. They are uniquely familiar and amazingly talented. The folks who give them hate for being "copy cats" or whatever could never even begin to try to make this caliber of art.
I took my teenage daughters to see these guys play a few weeks ago, they are even better live. Great interaction with the crowd, hammering and creative solos, best show I've been to in years.

It's good to see rock making a comeback, same as Americana and other genres. Streaming and the internet has liberated those genres from the constraint and control of radio and television trying to ram pop, hip hop, and bro country down everybody's throats. This is a type of music that has an untapped market. They are young and new, so millennials and Gen Z's like them, but you can't tell me that somebody from the Led Zeppelin generation doesn't like this. I'll bet you see all different ages at their shows.
Good that rock is coming back and giving people like us and alternative to rap and pop. Bands that are bringing back rock however, are called “copycats” like GVF and Led Zeppelin. It’s just that with a lot of influence in rock history, some of their sound has to make it to other songs
Greta Van Fleet thank you for bringing back that classic rock sound and making it your own!!!
It’s a beautiful thing to see a modern group with the that classic rock sound and do it so naturally

Y’all act like having a new zeppelin is a bad thing, this band is a chance for the younger generations to appreciate rock and roll and still have the respect of the old metalheads
Idk my main issue is that they're barking up the wrong tree. They sound WAY too similar to Led Zeppelin, but then you see the differences in the substance of the song. These play more like pop songs. I wouldn't mind them sounding like Zeppelin if they had better musicianship and a singer that wasn't the reincarnation of Robert Plant, but ultimately it comes off to me as a watered down zeppelin
Kids can still appreciate rock by listening to Led Zeppelin. If they like Greta Van Fleet, then there's no reason for them to not Led Zeppelin. Besides, the only people listening to this band are the older folks. GVF isn't breaking any grounds here, nor or they going to "save rock".
@@GibsonGuy0707 Nonsense. Go to their concerts. What a moronic ignorant comment. plenty of 20-30 year olds there. That is the thing, nobody will listen to Led Zeppelin anymore without bands that are inspired by them. Hardly any radio stations play their music and those stations that do, do not have a large audience. Look up the top streaming songs. Look up any charts. GVF does not have to break new musical ground, but they need to break the wall to the new generation of musicians that DO NOT go to LZ for inspiration. You would be surprised that most of the newer bands DO NOT. Listen to the interviews for GVF and you can tell they have deep group of inspirations including the mainstream LZ, but more intricate than just mainstream.

Mark Clark, boy are you RIGHT ON THE MONEY! Can’t stand this band! Don’t understand why they act, dress and look so FEMININE? Other than the Fact that the Lead Singer is GAY!
I am 56 and I woke up for work this morning with the highway song buzzing in my head from the night before, funny how music can do that, I think the most notable trait of these young guys and their music is their ability to rekindle a long dwindled adrenal rush music used to give me. Consider I lived through the British invasion and listened to the birth and development of the biggest bands ever to blaze trails into all our lives. What is cool is that Led Zeppelin rose to fame at a time when the world was ready for them and they were not hindered with familiarity and saturation of the genera they would eventually posses , in other words they were not hindered by some of the hurdles GVF has had to overcome , all this music has been done before and done to death for decades , the fact that these guys are catching on so quickly despite that, is testament to just how talented they are , the cohesiveness of their sound the lyrics melodies tempo timing beat inflections and blazing stunningly unique vocals by Josh are what make GVF able to bulldoze through a jaded audience deadened by decades of musical mediocrity and ignite the excitement in people garnishing reactions such as the ones on this blog, to simply say as some have that GVF is reminiscent of Led Zeppelin and that is their appeal is crushingly marginalizing , listen to the acoustic version of Black Smoke Rising, Edge of Darkness these are genuinely masterful songwriters singers and musicians. These guys are on fire and I can’t wait to hear what comes next. I still remember how it felt when I got my first Zeppelin, Stones , Floyd LP and so many other monster talents, the only reason I can remember , and I am being completely sincere in saying this , is that after listening to this entire track From The Fires , for the first time in decades I felt it again I want to have all my friends over and crank this cool new album buy this new band Greta Van Fleet in its unstoppable infancy and we will all play air guitar and get buzzed laugh and not give a fuck about anything because the music is doing the talking and pulled us all out of our heads to let us live in the moment, that's some serious spiritual currency . Peace Everybody,,,,,, Darren.
I was at an album artwork shop in the markets of Melbourne. I was looking for zeppelin covers when the store owner said "you like zep huh? listen to Led Zeps new song" then played highway tune* and my jaw dropped... as he told me it was some kids from Michigan. I bought the zep album cover but he wrote the band name on the back. Best 10 dollars I ever spent, to get the name of GVF
darrengilles darrengilles fuckin well said!
Darren! I purposely signed into my Google account to just say, "Yeah, man. Agreed. One-hundred percent." I had the privilege of interviewing GVF last month at FloydFest, already well aware of their talent and presence. Incredibly smart and perceptive folks. Not kidding. They blew the doors off that festival. As someone who has attended thousands (1,000s) and thousands of rock shows, that GVF FloydFest show entered my "Top 10." The head they carry on their shoulders will serve them well as this road gets wilder and more haphazard, in terms of people, places and things expecting more and more from them and such. As a longtime rock journalist, I was blown away by their sincerity and well thought out nature of self and purpose. That said, yeah, I loved your statement. Kudos. Cheers from Carolina. Much love, y'all.

we are living in a time where nearly every mainstream artist sounds the same, and you guys are really gonna complain that these guys sound like Led Zeppelin?
Yes, because there are so many cringe people in the comment section who think this music is going to bring back rock when it is not. That would involve actually adding their own twist on the sound, instead of blatantly ripping off LZ. It's good for old dad rockers, at best, but it is nothing revolutionary.

Saw them play in Detroit last night. Never have I seen musicians today with such raw talent, just jamming out and having fun like them! I left so mesmerized and blown away and can't get their songs out my head! I feel lucky to have gotten to see these guys, so young and early, before the world swoops them up. I was too young for Led Zeppelin in their hey day, but I am happy to say I've got a band like Greta Van Fleet to add to my life's soundtrack. Maybe kids will grow some brains and will ushur in a new wave of music.
I see them in Leeds UK in a months time, man I can't wait!
I think it’s great that their musical influences are part of this bands identity
Amen.
Thank you for this band! Saving the 21st century!
It’s been so long since I’ve heard a guitar solo in a mainstream song. Tears are welling up😭😭
+1
It’s so refreshing to hear a band like GRETA VAN FLEET!!
From France 💙🤍❤
I can feel that John Paul Jones n that bass!!
Do these guys ever go tired of making good music? every song they've released is great!!!
Dude , they have only recorded like 5 songs. Why should they get tired?
Ricardo Villagrana isn't that the way it should be great music from a great band

Ricardo Villagrana du you ever tried English
EK2112 hey dumbfuck. they have an album out, an EP, this single and more. they've been writing like 6 years, so no, dick meat, the have more than five songs, saw em a few weeks ago at the Agora, fucking amazing show, as well.
Seriously..... Fu**** holy at last. Rock that blows my socks right off..... Bands like this come along once and awhile. Just enjoy the ride people.. They're gonna be huge. All of my favourite bands rolled into one. And I'm loving every minute of it!!!!!!
Wow this band is amazing
I'm 59. I love this band
Sign me up ,The writing, singing and Guitarist are amazing. Love how they honor Led Zeppelin in their songs...
Saw them last night in Chicago front row. As a guitar player and classic rock musician everything was incredible! I could not take my eyes off the guitar player! The energy was unreal! These guys deserve to keep getting bigger and bigger! This is definitely one I’m going to start learning!
Peter Dankelson I know. When they came to Utah I couldn’t keep my eyes of the drummer (drummer myself). They are so captivating.
Lighting fingers on Jake!
Saw them last night in Detroit and I play the guitar and I could only focus on the guitarist. He started playing the guitar behind the head.
Atomic yeah! Jake is amazing!
GET EM JAKEY GET EM
The essence of classic rock has returned
Gold is gold, tis gold, so Gold it is!
These guys were raised by some baby boomers with good taste and the influence is amazing don’t diss them it’s amazing and it’s raw and real. His voice is great the instruments are out of this world and the way it all goes together is pure magic
Absolutely agree. Discovered them not long ago and get to see them live aug 11th so hyped!
im just now getting into gvf and this is the closest thing to a religious experience that ive had the honor of experiencing
You took the words right from my mouth.
I cannot explain how true that is. The first time i heard them i was indoctrinated to this magical universe of GVF. They are brilliant.
same
Too funny
Me and my dad never really got along well. BUT Music was our common bond. I just show'd him this band last night. And it was like seeing him light up like a Christmas tree. Me and him both hammer on old guitars and jam. IT was cool as hell to see him see a young awesome newer band that we can bond over.
Savage Tilley Everyone who grew up in the 70’s love these guys. The sound is similar to Zepplin but grittier. Finally, some real talent on today’s airways.
Savage Tilley hope y’all r good
Been waiting decades for a band to play the sound of my youth, they are amazing and their songs have the range and depth that was once thought to be extinct!
Rock n' roll is still alive!!
