this show has really grown on me, been listening to the 2019 CD and this show is such a pleasure to listen to…now that i have a better feel for the show, i really appreciate the performance, choreography etc. great job 2019 troopers!
It was one of my favorite shows of the year tracked their progress all season. I remember running my A$$ off from the hotel to Lucas oil to see quarters finals
Yes it was sloppy but not all Corps are not the same and all don't have the same resources. My Nephew is in the Boston Crusaders and there are lots of advantages to being a Drum Corps in a major US City with deep pocket donors and lots of Cotporate support. Boston had the ability to hire the Color Guard Staff away from Crown and just recently hired Blue Knight precession staff. Regardless of Corps they all work hard. All things are not the same but I feel the effort is there. Looking forward to seeing everyone in Indy.
Now this is a good, classic show. Sure, it’s not visually perfect. There are a lot of improvements to be made in marching, effect, and filling holes - but they have potential and talent. You have to remember that the Troopers are from a small town in Wyoming. They don’t have the resources that a corps like Boston or Carolina has. So, under the circumstances, this is a damn good show. I really like the music!!!
Good luck, Troopers! Fill those holes and clean that show to a crispy product. I am glad that you still march more than scamper, play more than utilize recordings and voiced narration, and fill the field with bodies more than props. The philosophy and criteria for rating and ranking have left many of the elements of the activity behind and I understand the need to adapt. Hopkins was correct decades ago when he led a dci forum by a powerpoint presentation that stated: "DRUM CORPS IS MARCHING BAND". I never liked marching band. I always loved drum and bugle corps.
Yeah but it’s not just them. I miss the look of corps like SCV, Madison, The Cadets etc. the Troopers has the best head gear with those traditional hats. Now they look like some WGI group.
Good luck, F Troop!. Have to admit I don't necessarily like the new look (I marched 83-85 so partial to the old uniforms) but understand the need for change. Miss our two signature moves with no sunburst or company front. Lol, guess I'm just getting old. Do appreciate no props or narration in the show. Clean it up and keep pushing!
I have a heavy bias...but...the battery is darn good....horns are good. Pit is good.. Drill needs help. Praise God...no set pieces to run on...or over...or behind. Judges are going to be harsh on them for not dancing and prancing. But my heart is with you Troop. Corps is good...some cleaning..and Yes Orville!!!!.
I love the step forward into modern shows for troopers. Though having the classic troopers uniforms is nice and traditional, shifting into these modern style shows will ultimately increase their scores and make them an overall more favorable corps. They didn’t take this step all at once, so for that I think it’s good, and I love what they are doing. Can’t wait to see where they go next year. Now the road to finals is on its way 🤞🏻
I have to disagree. You can do a modern look while still having your traditional style. Troopers this year look like a baton group. Look at Madison last year...they looked unrecognizable with those terrible red and pink outfits. Troopers with these pastel blue and gray. Maybe modern but what does that mean? You have to look like a WGI guard to be successful?
@@tristanwatson1846 I think it aged just fine. the troopers have taken on a modern style of drum corps and kept their identity while doing it. It’s exactly what I hoped for !
NO, Not actual drum corps. There are no bugles here. There is no excitement here, there is no marching and maneuvering here, there is no general effect here, there is nothing that says "Troopers" here. For the first time in 50 years, I'm done. Forever in the bottom 12, no thanks. That's what is written for these kids.....AND it is NEVER the kids fault UNLESS they were judged by the tic system, like the old days.....When you made a mistake, it was tallied. Now you just have a bunch of people saying "well, that was cute, that sucked" This is not drum and bugle corps. This is not the Troopers.
Thank you for no props on the field. Do tend to think the black shoes of the horn player are not the same color scheme and could possibly be spray painted grey to match. Best wishes on smoothing the marching. The sound is good.
The corps black shoes really stick out and are destracting. Also, it's easier to see the marching mistakes. They should go to the gray that matches their uniforms.
Yeah, Eddie, the first thing I saw as well. You're right in that it only highlights errors. This is especially true with the current state of things lacking much precision.
I've loved the Troopers since I first saw them in 1974. I am REALLY glad they didn't clutter up the field with a boatload of extraneous crap. That being said, this is one of the SLOPPIEST shows I have ever seen in drum corps. I know it's only a few weeks into the season, but after a month of spring training, I expected better than this. It seemed like nobody knew how to dress a line, and unless they were missing people, there were way too many interval errors. And to be quite honest, the show was a little dull. I didn't see a single "Wow" factor out there. It may have been the camera recording this performance, but the Troop needs to get a LOT better if they want to get back in the Top 12. I hope they can do it.
I agree, I fell in like with this corps in 1965 (I was9) when I heard a recording. Fell in love in 1970 (I was 14) when I saw them for the first time. I agree with you 100%. THIS IS NOT THE KIDS FAULT! I know things have changed since I was on marching staff with a top DCA corps (no i'm not compairing the two). But staff.... how can you start your show in an old school opening set & NOT EVEN TEACH YOUR MEMBERS HOW TO DRESS & COVER !!!??? This is the first thing EVERYONE is looking at & all they have to do is stand there & look good, & apparently YOUR NOT CAPABLE OF TEACHING THAT. I love this corps, always have, always will. It's ok if they maybe don't have the tallent other corps have but Management, Staff, these kids deserve better than what you'r giving them.
@@billroderick2028 I'm with you....I fell in love in 1969 and followed and loved through the last 50 years. This year, I am done. My thought was if you know you are going to come in the bottom 20th with your talent, put the 1970 show on the field with the old uniforms and let the oldsters have their thrill and the newbies wondering what the hell is going on.....
Wow! Sound is good but man it’s visually super sloppy even for this early. And to think Madison is scoring even with them. Madison continues to sink deeper into obscurity.
Yeah, lower and lower and lower. I have been a Trooper fan for 50 years but I'm done. As for madison, I have no idea what's happened there. Something bad.
Always been a fan of the Troopers. Really dig this show but with that said soooooooo not digging the uniforms at all!!!!The uniforms do not say Troopers at all. Its like if Cadets uniforms were to change to the old Velvet Knights uniforms . Not that I didnt like VK uniforms THAT was a huge part of their identity. Just saying just doesn't seem like the Troopers .
They are trying to look and act like Bluecoats. They have lost their way. Recently seen 1986 Troopers; long for the real Troopers to come back. But will say that there are no weird props and Broadway side shows, so all in all, I like it well enough.
First saw the Troopers in 1962. Followed them all through the "Glory Years" of the National Championships. Really miss that "Troopers Tall" look and those great cavalry uniforms. Not a big fan of the current "Costuming" of the units. Best of luck to the current "F" Troop.
I also liked the Cavalry uniforms. I started following the troopers in 1969 when I was a high school Band Director. I converted my marching band from precision drill to corps style using Troopers as my example.
NEXT YEAR, have the GUTS to come out with the 1970 show. You may still end up in 20th place but so what, this crap is going to put you there anyway. NONE OF THIS IS THE FAULT OF THE KIDS....NOT NOW, NOT EVER
The winter guarding of corps is starting to get old. Corps are starting loose their identity . If this wasn't title Trooper, you wouldnt know who they are. Not just them, there are several others . All looking the same . Doing the same body moves, the same horn moves. Seriously the shows are getting so mediocre . I hope drum corps can return to their glory.
Thanks you, Kids, for giving this your ALL......Thank you staff for selling out, producing another sub top 12 performance, for settling for that year after year except 2009 when you got lucky. This music selection sucks, the drill is over the top dull.....I'm so sorry life long Trooper followers.....the troopers are dead....Killed in battle by the DCI wizards...Nice Job. Fire Kristy Jackson, who when READING the tribute to Jim Jone on June 11th, Battle Hymn facing Casper, could have been reading the "want ads" and to the Trooper who responded with "What" when Drum Major Light called the corps to attention, YOU disgraced every member ever. At that moment I knew there was NO PASSION in Casper or wherever you're from now.....and I dropped my contribution level to 0. I never thought it would happen but I'm done BUT NONE OF THIS IS THE FAULT OF THE KIDS
Woof...that color guard drill was (don’t like saying this, but) bad. And some of the horn drill was either predictable or nonsensical. They had like zero full integration moments...and can we talk about the unflattering blue pajamas? Honey. I’ll take my troopers with their proper uniforms...and none of that sleeveless garbage that they tried to do. I want the cavalry uniform and I want them to look like the troopers...unfortunately, this show design, I would call, the poopers.
NO FAULT OF THE KIDS BUT this is not the 11th Ohio Cavalry from Casper Wyoming. This is DCI bulls##t that will end the activity we loved. Not even a BUGLE corps anymore....And not america's corps anymore.....America's Corps wore Cavalry uniforms and it was THAT history that made them America's corps......

10:16 that feature was in the american fork highschool show last year. John meehan stole it from them!
hmmm? need to look into that
John Meehan wrote that show as well. So I guess he stole from himself. The original piece is really interesting as well
Their first movement is basically JET 2018, as well.

Why adapt when the adaptation is hated by so many???? THIS is why drum corps will go under. Have the Trooper 11th be the Trooper 11th.....
Yeah but it’s not just them. I miss the look of corps like SCV, Madison, The Cadets etc. the Troopers has the best head gear with those traditional hats. Now they look like some WGI group.
miss their traditional Trooper uniforms; it was so their identity. whaaa
Maybe they are going for a look similar to the cast of the show The Orville. That's my guess.
Brian Mathews there show is called beyond boundaries so that’s why they aren’t playing any Wild West style music plus uniforms
Thank You Very Much!

Great show!!!! It was so cool driving by your headquarters on the way to Yellowstone last September!! Have a great summer and kick some ass!!
Wow. Marching. Music. No Amoeba drills, etudes and senseless ballet movements.
Why does dci keep having certain shows at these huge stadiums and spending all that money for very small crowds.
Exposure, because soon they will flock to Indianapolis.
