Boston has the best overall show between them Crown, and Cavies in my opinion. I don’t think any of them could beat Bloo or BD. They are way too strong in all captions and the shows are great.
Chad Tarver I’m not gonna pretend that BD isn’t outperforming them overall (most notably in the visual department) but I don’t think the show itself is any better than the three C’s
The issue with this show and others like it is there’s more running and dancing than playing. That’s what’s keeping them from the top 3. Too many solos, a quick 16th/32nd run here and there, trumpets play something fast, and then your power hit chords. You don’t really hear music till the last 30 seconds. The show feels so empty even though there’s so much going on and what sucks is when they are actually playing they sound like a top 3 corps. Sucks when you see such a legendary corps struggling on musicality and even their drill because they’re not balancing anything. Feels like it’s one of those okay this is what everyone else is doing let’s shove as much dancing into the drill as we can. Don’t get me wrong there’s nothing wrong with that I actually enjoy it when it’s not so overwhelming. And obviously that’s why BD, CC, BC, SCV have been dominating the past few years because their movements compliment the music and drill not the other way around!
Rick Brooner it always did feel like something was missing from the show. A piece of music that really moves the audience, not something that’s just exciting and cool to see. I guess you could say this is a good but forgettable show
I completely disagree, there is playing at more than 70% of the show. And where there isn’t playing there is a drum or pit break. It’s all based off of design. Saying there isn’t a part that sounds like music until the last 30 seconds is just wrong. It’s all music, maybe not traditional dci music, but why would that be a problem. Changing rep and the type shouldn’t be seen as dci going downhill, but evolving. Idk just my opinion.
Ben Huffman Dude, it doesn’t matter if they change their uniform first of all they have to keep up with the new uniform change in dci, it has to follow the show, and Cavaliers aren’t just some uniform, what they perform is what we should matter and their traditions and energy, not what they are wearing
So if Cavaliers had there traditional uniforms on your saying this would have a negative impact on there placing 6th so far? I personally think it would help it visually but I do agree with you to a point with uniforms but I would like to see some identity from each Corp. I'm not a BD fan in the slightest but you can always recognise them. Each Corp can have there own identity without being a sheep!
I'm not a fan of every corps abandoning their traditional look but at least The Cavaliers make it look good. Their costumes are classy and so impeccably tailored by their sewing crew that they fit like a glove. In contrast Vanguard looks like they're wearing bedazzled purple and pink potato sacks.
@@neilpalmer5577 Guys + tight pants = pack lunch. They could make them wear dance belts but I think most of the spectators are familiar with human anatomy lol.
Micah Lall-Trail yeah, but they do have some sort of point. It sucks that we have to do full costuming and be a lot more cheesy with shows in order to compete with everyone.
Micah Lall-Trail I wasn’t super happy when they announced we were ditching the old cavalier look, but in reality this activity is changing and to remain relevant we had to. Personally I prefer the 2012-16 approaches to dci, but ya know things happen. It allowed us to really perform our show more. I think people should have their chacos/hats in their show for heavy drill features and then remove them for their emotional moments.
The tenor at 5:06 motioning a “COME ON!!” to the others and im living for it
You know a ballad is good when people think it's the end of the show lol.
I just hate the video ended before we could see everyone's reaction when they opened back up.
i played that song for the ballad in our winter show this last year. i believe it’s called road to chicago
@@reesefleming1829 The source music for our ballad is from the movie Road to Perdition and Its called Cathedrals
This is what I love about the cavaliers. they just have the craziest shows and it works!
YES I AM
What I loved was being able to tell it was the cavaliers even with the uniform change. They just leave their presence and I love it
The Cavies had THE ballad of the year.
god i remember going feral after it seeing 6:04 live
Same! My friends had to sit me down
I miss that cavvie uni look
I can't say "Go green machine!" at shows anymore :( C'mon cavvies! lol
J PrOvost see or do😝
dctrtuba brass yes you can
@J PrOvost Two things here:
1. I definitely use to mix up Cavies with Dartmouth.
2. Sausage fests are best during the summertime.
Its much more difficult to see the drill without that sharp contrast between the black pants and wide shoulders with the green field.
This show should be top 3
Along w/ Crown and Boston IMO :)
I agree. Totally different show then performed in Vista during the California swing.
Personally I’d put Cavies, Crown, and Boston in top 3 over BD this year

All 3 of those got screwed yeah. I felt like those should've been the top 3.
FRRRR

Percussion were killing it! That 85% of the show the brass weren’t playing it just showed off the pits skill 🔥

Lol where is the closer?
Great show 👍....please bring back the green traditional uniforms .
Kellen Al they always have them they stick to show uniforms now that’s why their scores are higher now
@@brandonbenjamin3446 Some might call that selling out to pointless fads.
Opener is Gorgon by Rouse
6:04 some of the coolest stuff in this show is what the Front Ensemble does and you can barely see it in this video
valarya nice to see some pit appreciation lol
Evan Bookout dude it’s the cavaliers your always going to expect the pit doing something crazy and cool
Percussion Maniac ...what
Percussion Maniac I meant like in general
Evan Bookout I know
Love that part at 4:30. So cool.
why are the trumpet soloists down the octave?
Banks Nussman read the score to find out hehe..
I like this show.i think it was better show, over anyone else,
Who ever disliked this is lame
they were at my high school
The music is... interesting
Yes! Thank u
Holy pit
battery parts are tough
Where's the green machine? This drab gray is not Cavaliers.

Bruh they were at my school just now
Terrible looking uniforms/costumes, whatever they were. Too much dancing, not what I expected.
SJWs take over everything they touch, DCI included. Now everyone has to follow suit in order to even compete.
@@Rubick471 how does this have to do with politics lol
