I love your tutorials. Much more helpful than others I've seen. Before I found you, I was concerned that my teardrops were vortexing and not staying concentric. I saw a project where all the shapes were concentric and not vortexing to the side and and I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. So I figured out that if I glued the base of the teardrop coils before I let them go (on the 'wrong' side of course), they stay straight! I also do this with coils when I want the center adhered to one side. Now I see that the vortex or the concentric are fine, depending on what you like, and I'm not feeling like I'm doing something wrong. Hope this makes sense!

After my friend saw it, we have both looked again, but I've never seen it again since. I have bought the Darice bottles but the nozzles are slightly different. They friction fit on top of the bottle, not thread on like my Michael's one. It still works with my Aleene's Tacky Glue though, and I haven't had any problems for years. However, I've heard that Darice will be closing soon, so I'm not sure how long those bottles will be available. Other fine tip nozzle bottles might not be the same "gauge". That's how they measure the fine tip opening. Some people told me they bought another brand and the Aleene's glue won't come out. I can't comment on other brands because I've never bought them, and some listings don't mention a gauge size. Anyway, loooooong answer that I hope helps you find the right tools!

Hello Cecelia Thank you for your wonderful tutorial! Could you please tell me what the numbers are for on the Quilling shape board? I just purchased one by "Quilled Creations" You have used a similar looking shape board in this video. I would sure like to know how to use the numbers and dashes. Thank you so much! Patti
I'm happy to hear you enjoyed my tutorial Patti! The numbers found on the "Quilled Creations Circle Template Board" are a circle size, not a unit of measure in inches or centimetres. It's just a quick visual guide so you can remember that you use a number 3 for a certain part in a snowflake, for example. If you look at the 4th photo in the Amazon listing (www.amazon.com/dp/B001689MYK/?ref=exp_paperzen-cecelialouie_dp_vv_d), you'll see the measurements suggested for the length of paper that fits the size of circle. So 8 to 10 inches of length would fit the Size 3 circle, for example. I can't find an explanation the for dashes, so I'm going to assume they are simply there to visually tell you which circle sizes are the same size. Without the dashes showing you which ones relate to one another, you could in theory get the blank circles mixed up. For example, the top left and top right circles are "0" (the largest), and the six circles between them are "1". The dashes between the "1" are linking them together so you don't mix them up. I hope my explanation makes sense?
@@PaperZenCeceliaLouie Thank you so much!! This is exactly the information I was looking for!! I purchased my board from Hobby Lobby and although it is the same product the packaging did not include the same information that is in the 4th photo on Amazon. I appreciate you taking the time to help me. I look forward to learning this craft and watching your wonderful videos. : ) Have a wonderful day!! p.s. I am a Hybird too I believe. Paper Zen - Cecelia Louie I’ve been a paper crafted for a long time and have done basic quilling but I’m ready to step up my paper quilling game. I have a Cricut Maker and love doing 3D paper projects!
@@PaperZenCeceliaLouie I have a Cricut Maker. I make cards and have started cutting appliques for quilting. I just started quilling and I was glad when I found your UA-cam videos. There are a lot of books on quilling but nothing beats a video showing each step. I'm just about to test your .svg for making quilling strips. I like that I can create my own quilling strips. The Stardream paper you recommend has a white core. I assume the cut edge does not show the core?
@@Cuthbert124 Oh nice! You've got the Maker! Aw, I'm glad my videos have been helpful. I plan to delve into more hybrid types of videos next year, so I hope you'll enjoy some of those. I don't see many hybrid projects out there. Hmm, I took out both my Stardream Text and Cover weights, and don't see a white core. I even took out my iphone and enlarged the photo, and still don't see a white core. I bought mine in Canada, but I wouldn't think they'd make them differently per country.
@@PaperZenCeceliaLouie I haven't bought any Stardream paper yet. I was searching the internet for sellers since the Amazon source was very pricey. I thought I read on one site that the core was white and that's why I ask the question. Upon further research, I can't find the site that gave me the misinformation. I will order paper tonight knowing it is not white core. Also, I'll modify the .svg quilling strips object and have the Maker score the strips that need a midline.
OK, I hope it works out for you. I wish my Explore did a better job of scoring, but I found it to be inexact and not deep enough. I'm sure your Maker will do a much better job of scoring. I look forward to seeing what you make!

I have been a card maker for a couple of decades and LOVE die cutting. My interest in Quilling, though, is to be used with Watercolor painting. When I received a card with a watercolored background and a lovely Quilled butterfly sitting on the face of the card and my jaw dropped. : ) I would love to integrate Quilling in both my card making and my Watercolor art : )
Thank you again!
Patti
@@pattik2825 Yay! I'm so happy I was able to help!
Sweet! Another HYBRID!!! Yes I feel the same way - combining both crafts opens up a completely different world. My fave is combining both to make fringed flowers. I'm thrilled to hear you've fallen in love with quilling too! :D
Happy quilling!

Hi Kimerbly, the link is in the video description notes. Here it is for your convenience: paperzen.ca/products/quilling-snowflakes
There's another paper you frequently use that I just cannot, for the life of me, figure out what you are saying.
Is it KAMPSANMETOMPS? What is the actual name and where could I get it?
Hi Kellyann, it’s called Canson Mi-Teintes, made in France. I buy mine from a local fine art supply store but here’s an Amazon Affiliate link so you can learn more about it: amzn.to/2UMDVIf

Paper Zen - Cecelia Louie I love all things paper!! I’m just learning quilling!!
Wheeeeeee! I can sense you’re on a thrill ride already! Welcome to the world of quilling - so glad to have another newbie join our paper fever!
Paper Zen - Cecelia Louie I’ve been a paper crafted for a long time and have done basic quilling but I’m ready to step up my paper quilling game. I have a Cricut Maker and love doing 3D paper projects!
Paper Zen - Cecelia Louie what’s your recommendation on brand of paper?
hybrid crafter
Yay! Thrilled to hear another crafter enjoying both worlds! What's your favorite combo of both worlds? For me, it's fringed flowers.
@@PaperZenCeceliaLouie I love anything paper - 3D origami to scrapbook to just having fun experimenting
I'd like to know where you got your glue bottle? thank you!

HYBRID
Yay! Another hybrid! I use Cricut Explore. Which cutter do you have and what kind of cutting do you do?

Nice to meet another hybrid crafter Carolyn! I love my Cricut Explore for making fringed flowers for quilling. What’s your favourite dynamic duo hybrid craft?
Just wading into this but interested in paper flowers, cards and quilling.
LOL “wading” is a good description. There’s lots of fun stuff to make for hours, and limited only by your imagination. Flowers and cards is how I got started too.
