Thanks for your time.
Perfect instructions! Just followed this to change out the control unit in my 2007 HHR. Took about 20 minutes total at the most.
Your video helped me put the unit in my car. Now I have heat back ready for winter. All I had was AC.
Another common problem with the hhr. Thank you for showing how to change it.
Super video - I'm really reluctant to work on cars (I'm 67 and have done very little work on cars - I know nothing) but, I bought some cheap tools at AutoZone to pop the parts off safely, ordered the part on Ebay, and had this thing taken apart and fixed in about 20 minutes. Our old unit had been dying over the last 5 years, and, had finally quit working on all settings. It sucked, because it was pretty hot in Michigan this summer, and when winter came it would have been a paper weight - would've sat in the driveway. Whole repair cost about $65.00. You saved the day, buddy - thanks again.
No problem glad to help!
Thank you Klelious Davis. Great video and you saved me a lot of time.
No problem glad to help
Great job..
Hey, found this video while just looking for how to remove the trim haha! Same issue on mine.. black and orange wires melted. Hoping that the wire is reusable like in your case!
Older fords (60's & 70's) had a similar issue with the head light switch, and it was that under certain circumstances the plug would have too much amperage flowing through it overheating the connection melting the plug, and if the toasted connector is not also replaced, it will add resistance to the new switch causing it to a shorter lifespan than the original one did.
Change the toasted plug when you replace the switch and add some dielectric grease while you are in there!
Very helpful Thank You!
Very best to you and your siclecell anemia campaign
Thank you so much I appreciate it.
Exactly what happened to my hhr. After two mechanics told me that it most likely WASNT the switch. Paid one , for nothing, but the other one said that I was right, and didn’t charge me. I ordered it off ebay, and it worked! Only problem is that I got a unit that is gray, but my radio is black. Didn’t notice it until I was putting it on. :( Is there a way to take off the face plate so I can use the old face cover?
Thanks a ton!!! Just fixed mine
Do you have a video on how to switch the melted part?
Thank you.
I'm about to do the same job.
Got the part on EBay
Explain why u replaced.
Whats doing it ?
Thanks by the way it helped me fix mine but mine keeps blowing out any idea on what I should do?
excellent video, one the best. thank you very much MAGA HAGO
Thank you so much glad you like it
Cool video thank you 👍🏻👍🏻
Any ideas on why my temp gauges in my '07 HHR will not register a temp and disable my AC? Its fine in the winter. The heat works with or without temp registering, but in the summer the AC comes and goes. Mostly goes.
Bad thermostat. When bad it disables the A/C. Change it and it will fix your problem!
If I have heated seats could I just replace it with one without heated seats or are the the connectors different?
I would assume the connections would be different
what would be the problem if the second speed doesn't work on the aircon control panel?
Can you please make a video of how to replace the wire? I need to replace the wire
My slide light dimmer switch quit working and my map lights on my rearview mirror won't go off as a result. I'm trying to find a video for that. It's above the heating unit switch that you took out. My lights on my radio will not dim so I know it's the switch.
How can I know if it’s the nob controller or the blower motor?
Have you tried messing with the knob for the fan? That's how we figure out our module was bad. You would barely touch it and it would turn the blower motor off and on.
Thanks for the share, I need to replace mine , it only turns on high which sucks ...
Thank you for fixing my Moms car. Btw, do you use Nair hair removal on those legs? 😂
Hey do you have the link to the ebay seller for the part?
Sorry I don't have it.
No worries. I actually found it pretty quick
Thanks awesome glad to hear
@@SIMMONSx22xPOINTx0H can u send me the link?

Here's one I found. May not be exactly the same depending on if you have heated seats or not.
Beri good ilike
What is the name of the piece?
A/c heater control switch
anybody know where i cn find a cross match list for the part like another chevy car cheaper then the hhr part? the price went up to like 40 with shipping
i ended up getting it for 30 as well. my blower knob worked fine but my buttons did not turn red or make compressor or temperature knob nor my fresh air /recycled air button work either .This fixed it all ! thanks !
How do turn off the heater?
mine was working perfect the car sat for 2 weeks,I get in and fan blows but no a/c,rear defog ,fresh vent.I cant find a fuse bad,so is it the whole unit is bad?
Yup when it goes out the whole unit has to be replaced.
@ sylvan purcell same here so what was it fuse or this module thing ? what ended up being the solution for you ?
I just pulled mine out looked fine without ant toasted wires, so it is an issue inside the switch.
Yes you need to replace the switch
I found like oil into the main plug the golden pin one ,so clean up ,,but is normal find oil or gel into the swith control???
What is the part number
