My favorite aviation museum. Been there several times. Fave section WWI. It looks like much has been added since I was there. Sigh....my traveling days are over.
My hometown of 70+ years, now living in Wyoming. This museum I've been to many times taking my toddler grandson. FYI....another awesome museum in Dayton is the "Carillon Historical Park" with an entrance fee, but well worth it. Dayton has so much History your fans will love that tour too. Thank you for your awesome and amazing videos.
Wonderful overview of the National Museum of the Air Force. You did a great job of showing how massive it is. Several years ago, we spend a day there and didn't get through everything. A wonderful tribute to those who have served in the USAF! Safe travels!
My favorite museum in the United States. As an Air Force veteran, I've been to the National Museum of the USAF at least five times and each visit was for at least one, and usually, two days. If somebody has the time, you could spend an entire week there. Masterful video Robert, so many memories in life, my military service, and reliving history through our US Air Force and all its accomplishments. You are a national treasure also. Nice to catch up with you at the Florida SuperShow this year. Safe Travels.
Thank you for this video! My husband and I traveled to it this week after watching this a few weeks ago, and we took your advice and spent two days touring!
Glad you finally made it Robert. Wish we could have went with you, but we had work at the FSR and nearby customers. We try to get to the NAFM every few years, was there last year, yet seeing new exhibits in your video. It is overwhelming and makes for a long day. I prefer to go to the far end and work myself back to the front... yes backwards from how it is suppose to work, lol. The NAFM tried to get one of the shuttles, but lost out, such why they only got the trainer. That loss made a lot of people upset, but I guess Dayton can not have it all, lol. So glad you went through the Presidential airplanes, sadly there are many who would be too large to do so. Not sure your video really captured how narrow it is, but from our many visits I know how hard it was for you to film, sure you hit your elbows a lot. When the current Air Force 1's are retired, one is suppose to be given to Dayton. It is surprising how long the last generation of Air Force One was in service, from Kennedy to Clinton. What is now considered small now and sure Clinton, staff and press was excited to get into something larger and more secure. Per WaPa, the local nickname for Wapakoneta, going to have to leave you a voicemail on the proper or maybe not, just how us in Ohio pronounce that city name. That KOA is on the edge of US33 not far from Indian Lake and just North of the home of Airstream in Jackson Center. I have been to the Armstrong but Barb has not and she has told me, that MUST change. Thanks again for your time in Ohio.
My dad was a bombardier/navigator who flew over 70 missions in a B-25 in the China-Burma Theater in WWII. He flew over the Himalaya mountains, which they called the Hump. I got to meet many of his fellow aviators at a squadron meet up years ago. All are gone now. Incredible brave group of people.
That was fascinating. I’ve heard of the museums but didn’t know how much was there. Loved seeing the Presidential Planes. Thank you for the tour Robert ❤
My husband’s family had an aviation pioneer. He designed, built and raced his planes in the 1920-1930’s. Ever near Lafayette, Louisiana go south to Patterson and go see the Wedell Williams Aviation Museum. It’s small but interesting to visit.
We really appreciate your videos! You bring out details we don't see in other videos.. We have always enjoyed your style. We have been watching since your poor little car... Dave & Marji. Albany Oregon
If you ever come back to Sweden you could visit (Flygvapenmuseum Malmslätt) Air force museum outside the city of Linköping. A small country as Sweden made/make some of the best Fighterplanes in the World. Around 1960 Sweden had the worlds 4th largest airforce. a Country the size of California with then only 7.5 million people. (2022 10.5 million)
Loved your video! Welcome to Dayton, Ohio. Wish we would have known you were stopping by, we could have given you a personal tour of the Museum of the USAF. Our son is on the ARC rocketry team there. It can be very overwhelming. You definitely need 2 days if you want to see and do everything. I always recommend starting from the back first if you are interested in the most current rockets and aircraft.
That’s an impressive amount of historical plane and spacecraft examples. Never knew a museum that large existed! Thank you for documenting so much info in order to accurately describe everything you saw. Very informative and entertaining, especially for those of us personally connected to aviation. Well done!
Gooooood morning Robert! You're definitely right about being overwhelmed by the AF Museum and needing more than one visit to take it all in. The Early Years gallery was closed when I was there so it's nice to see some of the stuff I missed. By the way, the ""dark" lighting in the museum is to help prevent UV damage to paints and fabrics. My favorite big bomber is the B-36, with it's slogan "six turning, four burning". Hopefully you can make it to the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola someday. I was there back in 2002, but It was closed the last couple of times I tried to visit. And If you ever find yourself in Washington DC again. the Udvar-Hazy Center is a must. Until next time, keep 'em flying!
How incredibly cool !!!! I'm so glad that you two get to see so many magnificent things in this great country! In a little while, we're going over to my sister-in-law's for a visit. She's fixing Cubano sandwiches...wish you two could join! ♥
The US Rocket and Space Venter in Huntsvilla AL is also fab. When I was young I wanted to go to Space Camp. It didn't happen but I got to stand outside the front door as an adult! 😊😊😊
Hey. At minute 10:30 you show a C-123 named Patches. I was part of the crew that flew it back to the states in 1972. It was nicknamed Patches because of all the hits it received, almost 600, from enemy fire. If you look close in your video, you can see several patches on the nose. Seven crew members over time received purple hearts. It was primarily used in operation Ranch Hand spraying defoliants on the trail. I never flew this plane in combat, though. What a memory. Thanks........Howard
The National Museum of the United States Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is one of my favorite museums ever! I went there many times with my grandparents growing up, and I now do occasional trips with my girlfriend! We went there on labor day weekend last year and had a great time! Also, my all time favorite Pizza place called Marion's Pizza is only in the Dayton, Ohio area. It's something about the sauce that makes it my favorite pizza!
Great video tour with one exception. The narrator referred to many of the aircraft in the Southeast Asia gallery as being in the Cold War gallery. The Southeast Asia galley and the Cold War gallery are two different galleries.
Paula was on the last flight of the JFK AF1 plane, and first flight of the Geo. HW Bush plane. She thought it was cool to see the JFK plane again in your video, now we have to visit!
Great video! I'm embarrassed to say we live in Dayton area but it. has more than 10 years since we have been there. My husband and I were wondering if there is a designation on the Kennedy plane where Johnson took the oath with Jackie standing next to him in a blood-stained dress?
wow Robert is a astronaut he is going to the moon with his RV. l can't wait to see that video.😀
Minnie Tinnie V!

I could easily spend several weeks at the National Museum of the Air Force, thanks so much for the tour ...
I watched it again and I'm thinking I got to make a trip there to see the museum I think it's worth it😮
Very worth it!
wow - this museam is laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarge!

Hello Traveling Robert , this reminds me of our trip to the Air & Space Museum in Washington DC. We spent the whole day there.
My husband’s family had an aviation pioneer. He designed, built and raced his planes in the 1920-1930’s. Ever near Lafayette, Louisiana go south to Patterson and go see the Wedell Williams Aviation Museum. It’s small but interesting to visit.
Great, so true . I did only couple hours .and Did the loop around Huffman prairie
Your videos are always awesome 😊
that was one small step for Robert, one giant step for mankind...
Leap!
I need to drop there sometime in the future. I have an aviation museum nearby, but this is at another level.
That was awesome Mr. Robert, thank you.🍻
Nice video!
I used to see B52s lined up against the Dover AFB fence next to RT 13, imposing to say the least. (Good band from Athens GA too...)
You should check out the Outer Banks of North Carolina and visit the Wrights Brothers National Monument. Very well done and so Spectacular.

Great video, Robert. My father's cousin was a test pilot for the F16 at the Air Force base in Dayton, Ohio.
Wow, your videos are so, so nice Robert.
Very interesting. Thank you for the tour.
That was alot of plains in one spot it must have been overwhelming to remember all the information that you've shared I'm very impressed
Each aircraft has a placard with the information and it’s also all available online.
We went there 2 summers ago. Our 1 year old walked the whole thing in and out, wow! Oh cool, oh cool, oh cool!

Very cool video and museums. Adding to that ever-growing list again! 😂
Very cool, I have to check both places out when I get up to Ohio. Great video Robert!

Oh what you were in my part of town? Last time I went to the museum was in 1994, 3rd grade field trip haha😊

Great video, Robert
I live in Dayton and can count on one hand how many times I've been to the Air Force museum. I need to go again sometime.
I ha w been rhere , this is an excellent museum that one could spend days exploring and learning.
Although your Alaska videos were nice - I find this video and others where you explore history much more interesting

Yes, the thumbnail caught me completely by surprise. 😁
Great Video Robert 👍 It's sad to say that the City of Dayton Had to remove the Wrights Brothers Bicycle Shop in down town because of old age
I'm going to check out Dayton, OH. ABSOLUTELY!
Thanks!
Thank you!

If there is I didn't notice it.
I’ve been wanting to get to the Air Force Museum to leave my deceased dad’s dog tags there.
just think, astronauts spent up to 14 days in orbit in the gemini space capsule! crazy to thin of bein in that small space for 2 weeks!
Robert wouldn't it be easier to travel in a flying saucer ?😎
Nice, but where is this place??
Ohio
Have you checked out the Pensacola FL naval air museum? Make sure you go for lunch!
How long ago was this?

Really tough to get good pictures in the Air Force museum. The lighting is just miserable.
Space Farce was unessesary and took from what the Air Force was doing all along.
