In 1982 I was 19. Rush was playing in my town, the arena is adjacent to a Hyatt and a mall. Before the show, I was wasting time before the show, going through a mall bookstore and literally ran into Alex; freaked out, had no idea what to say. All I could muster was “thank you” and, of course, Alex responded comically. Couldn’t believe it didn’t get his autograph. But it’s a memory.
Here’s my RUSH story from the last tour in 2015. My husband and I had been flying all over the country to see RUSH starting in 2007 on the Snake’s and Arrows tour. We had made lots of great RUSH friends who also traveled all around the world to see them on their tours. For the last tour in 2015 we got to go to 11 shows starting with the opening show in Tulsa through the very last show in L.A. There was a group of us that numbered about 50 of us who would plan our trips together. We would stay at the same hotels, we would ear together and we would always make some great RUSH themed party favors for the different shows. Thy were usually bracelets, laminate badges and necklaces. We would wear them from tour to tour so on the last tour for the show in Atlanta our good friend who hosted the pre-party was in a pretty famous RUSH tribute band and he made R40 laminates to give to all of us to wear. The laminates were just like the laminates worn from this scene in the movie. They even spelled the word “access” with 3 C’s to coincide with the scene in the movie “I Love You Man”. Of course we still have our laminates from that one in Atlanta. I would post a photo of mine if UA-cam allowed me to post one. We love our boys so much and we are literally like a family. We still all keep in touch via Facebook and through all our RUSH groups that will continue forever. I have tons more great stories about our RUSH adventures but this is the one that coincides with your video. I also have a great story about how Paul Rudd showed up on stage at the RUSH concert in Kansas City, Missouri on the Clockwork Angels tour in 2013. It was hilarious. RUSH has always had such a great sense of humor. 🤘🎶💜
HAHAHAHAHA the best!!!!😂😂😂😂.......... (Rickie)"This man is under arrest he's a male prostitute...... (Bubbles) Oh, that's one Rickie uses all the time....:
A friend of mine had a motorcycle which was signed by all three of the guys .. at separate times from what I understand. He ended up selling it, so someone out there has a cool bike with the autograph's from the Rush guys.
"Trailer Park Boys" is a Canadian television show you probably aren't familiar with and for the most part it might not be for you but you might get a kick out of the episode called "Closer to the heart" where one of the trailer park boys kidnaps Alex Lifeson. I don't know where to view the episode though because all I can find on YT is other people reacting to it. It's season 3, episode 5 if you want to try and find it.
Geddy totes _does_ sing 🎵"Exit the warrior today's Tom Sawyeeee"🎵, though! 😄 And the 'Peart' (mis)pronunciation around his special sandwich is my favourite part 😄
Alex had an amazing cameo in a film called "Vampires Suck" where he plays Candian Border agent. Also, the movie "Fanboys" has an awesome Rush scene. No cameos from the band, but an incredible reference to them as the characters are beginning their adventure.
@JohnnyMegabyteCanada That's right. There was another movie that came out about the same time called "Vampires Suck". That one was the parody of the Twilight series.
That WAS me in high school. Right down to my denim jacket with the cover of Hold Your Fire painted on the back by my friend's sis. 😂😎 And yes, the long greasy hair 👀😂
Hi Red I have seen this before and it is pretty funny. On CBC Music, at Massey Hall Geddy Lee. This was from Geddy's book tour and Alex joined him on stage. It is absolutely hilarious!! These two are so quick witted. It is a little longer but you could break it into a few different segments. Cheers

My female wife unit knows talent, great humans that are rare, the 3 bobble heads are on the top shelf of the fireplace, nothing else will ever come close.
I became a big fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000 back in the 1990s. I've seen most of the episodes over its ten year run multiple times since I have dvd collections of the shows. After I had my Rush awakening ten or eleven years ago, I now notice how many times they reference Rush while watching their movies. The habit continued when they started up RiffTrax several years after MST3k ended. Of course MST3k was produced in Minnesota, so they're practically Canadians themselves, eh?
There is an episode of the grest show Chick called Chuck vs Tom Sawyer. Rush themselves do not appear, but Tom Sawyer is integral to the plot. There are a few Rush references in Freaks and Geeks as Jason Segel plays a fledgling drummer and Rush fan. Neil Peart as a drum-playing watermelon seed in Aqua Teen Hunger Force film.
Hey! I loved The Goldbergs! Everyone in that show is good. Nice entertainment. That scenario never happened to ANY of us! Ha Ha! Other rock maybe, but never with RUSH! 😆
Alex Lifeson appears in a few episodes of The Trailer Park Boys. They are really funny. Here they are. Closer to the Heart: In this season 3 episode, Ricky kidnaps Lifeson to get tickets to a Rush concert. In the end, Lifeson performs a duet of "Closer to the Heart" with Bubbles at the trailer park. Out of the Park: USA: In this episode, the Boys meet Lifeson in Memphis, who helps Bubbles record a song. The video for Bubbles' song "Who's Got Yer Belly" features Lifeson. Trailer Park Boys: The Movie: Lifeson appears as a traffic cop in the opening scene.
That was great. Always liked Paul Rudd. I've never heard of that show, I don't think it was ever on here but the guy in The Goldbergs was always going to win the girl playing her Tom Sawyeeee 😂
Story behind that in the song ,What i was told by the head recording tech ,the new mixing board (Le Studio) had a loose ground wire and it affected that part of the song,Alex and Geddy took the panel off the mixer and fixed it ,but left the speed up in the song .
I’m a little late today (work) but you are correct, RUSH is definitely having a renaissance these days. Especially with sharp, attractive, young women on YT of which your channel is a part of. It’s heartwarming to see y’all all these decades later. There were some RUSH Girls originally, but you were super rare. It’s come full circle for us old school and it validates what we knew all along. We watch y’all and think about the Rock and Roll Time Machine and how great it would be to take you to one of those original concerts. It would’ve been a Blast!
My friend when will you react to Drem Theater At WITZ END it l e in the Boston. Opera house like illumination Theory it’s. Must I hope you do it’s wonderful you will love it
Red please, please, please check out a Canadian TV comedy series called "Trailer Park Boys" from an episode in 2003 called Closer to the Heart. Red I guarantee you, you will die laughing.
My favourite Rush show insert was Darn That Dragon; ua-cam.com/video/XpXwtiM5Ph8/v-deo.htmlsi=9gBf0Pn4Ap4cpz4a Followed by the time machine video where they swap instruments and the Rio By-torand the Snowdog cartoon
I Love You, Man was the start of most of this. Funny, the band routinely had turned down prospective appearances in movies before that, but were going through a period where they thought they would try different things & decided to go ahead with it when they asked the writer what the Plan B is if they declined. He said there was no Plan B. That convinced them. Apart from Alex's appearance on Trailer Park Boys where he gets kidnapped by Ricky & is a must watch, there are also references to them on South Park, because Trey Parker & Matt Stone are friends with the band. I think there's a YT video out there titled Rush references in pop culture, or something like that, which you should try to find.
Goldbergs was a great 80s tribute.....Red you have to check out the clip of (3min 7 sec.) Paul Rudd and Jason as they jam in their movie "I Love You Man" to Tom Sawyer on utube...MOVIE SCENE : I Love You Man

That guitar is big $$$ now. RIP to Neil 😢😢 along with the Best 👌
I so much enjoy your reactions!!! You feel like my actual red headed neighbor! lol. You would like "Ghost of a Chance"
You have to watch their interlude from the Snakes and Arrows tour, "What's That Smell?" and the outtakes from the same. I cried laughing!
Chiiiicken!
HEIIIIIIIIDEEEEEEEEE, get some chicken fer Dis guyyyyyy.
Oh Red you gotta see their RUSH beer commercial/promos.very short but funny.
Yes, they are hilarious along with their time on the Rick Merser Report 😂

Trailer Park Boys where Alex gets kidnapped
yaas!
HAHAHAHAHA the best!!!!😂😂😂😂.......... (Rickie)"This man is under arrest he's a male prostitute...... (Bubbles) Oh, that's one Rickie uses all the time....:
I saw this show in Cleveland Ohio. Which is on dvd. My Brother in law bought my ticket. Middle center front. 😊
Ive met Rush backstage a few times and a one on one with Geddy at our local radio station
Very funny clips. 😁 Thanks for sharing.
Alex & Geddy joined Paul Rudd for his charity softball tournament at Royals Stadium recently.
It was fun, as I got older, seeing people bringing their kids and grankids to the show. Many of the kids knew all the words.😊😊😊😊
It took quite some time for women to appreciate RUSH! Just check the audience from their first decade! All dudes!
A friend of mine had a motorcycle which was signed by all three of the guys .. at separate times from what I understand. He ended up selling it, so someone out there has a cool bike with the autograph's from the Rush guys.

TPB is on Netflix. At least in Canada.
The relevant clips can be found on YT.
Well worth a watch!!
Hey ! You have the original Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise license plate on your shelf ! Nice .

the movie was just called SUCK

My favorite line about how "Peart" is pronounced - "Are you sure? We're pretty big fans".
"Who carries a walkie-talkie?"
I had forgotten the Goldbergs
Hi Red

Too funny ,,Thats RUSH,,,,

I wonder how awkward it was for Geddy and Alex to be on the opposite side of Neil.
Hey! I loved The Goldbergs! Everyone in that show is good. Nice entertainment. That scenario never happened to ANY of us! Ha Ha! Other rock maybe, but never with RUSH! 😆
Howdy Neighbor. You need to check out the short called That Darn Dragon. You will love it.
In reality both Paul Rudd and Jason Segel are huge Rush fans so it was fitting that Rush were a big part of the plot in I Love You Man.
Paul Rudd is the most charming man on the planet
The backstage skit is so relatable honestly. I got the VIP ticket to meet Mike Portnoy when I was 17 and I acted just like the autistic fanboy I was 😅
Alex Lifeson appears in a few episodes of The Trailer Park Boys. They are really funny. Here they are.

awesome! thx
Alex was in The Trailer Park Boys: Countdown To Liquor Day as a Undercover Cop Prostitute in drag
Alex Lifeson and Gord Downie played cops that pulled the boys over in The Trailer Park Boys movie
Have you checked out Platinum Blonde ,Alex`s side project back in the 84-86 ? Also any of the solo works of Geddy and Alex ?
