    Masterful perfomance by Pollini of pieces that really should be better known. The first is a gem, and the unusually fast tempi in the outer sections work swimmingly. Wonderful sound. Thanks for sharing, David.

    Mitsuko Uchida has an interview in the NY Times. She says when she plays Mozart it's like little kids playing. On the other hand Schubert is very dream like. That's spot on. The sudden key changes and effortless melodic creation, really unbelievable.

    Negative comments like "completely wrong" or "boring" are useless not to mention suspect unless backed up with a few examples of why they are judged so.

    32 people did not like this!? They do not like Schubert or did not like Pollini's performance? (or they prefer Brendel's?) A critique of Diapason said, "Pollini plays. That is all! (not word by word)" WITH diapason doll. I agree!

  • @notaire2

    I haven't imagined Pollini performed these three pieces with such a warm sound and delicate touch. If they were not performed and recorded by him, they would still be unknown to most of the classical music listeners.

    My favorite Schubert piano piece.Just haunting.Why so seldom heard but that is true of this type of neglect of most composers and simultaneous over playing ogf mediocre works

    • @sixkatz
      @sixkatz 9 років тому +2

      "Why so seldom heard?" "This type of neglect." These pieces are available in scores of recordings and are regularly performed in recital. "Simultaneous over playing [sic] ogf [sic] mediocre works." I don't know what these might be, or that Schubert has been underperformed because of them.

    sorry guys, this piece belongs to Mr. Brendel. As much as I love Richter and Pollini I have always thought Richter was a bit heavy
    handed for some of Schubert's works; Pollini is a too fast in the opening piece resulting in a little unevenness in phrasing.

      I also really like Sokolovs interpretation of the second piece. The clarity is just amazing! I wouldn't say it belongs to a certain pianist. Every interpretation is unique and different, that's creative freedom.

      Using internet to demonstrate one's stupidity is never a good idea. Get a pair of ears and, while you're at it, get a brain. "Never learned to read music" - that's why he won the Chopin competition when he was 18 years old and is one of the most recorded artists of the modern era. Are you for real?
