Starting with Aicelle Santos and her Paula Cole Cover
of "I Don't Wanna Wait" live. We then worshiped with Jaya and her soulful performance of "Hallelujah to the One" live from the wish bus. Joey Albert showed us the huge variations that come with being an alto in her live performance of "Tell Me". Then Odette Quesada brought immense familiarity and heartbreak with her song "To Love Again", and to finish it all off we got enchanted by Jessa Zaragoza and her beautiful song "Bakit Pa?".

The guitarist with Odette, I think was Top from the band Freestyle.
Odette Quesada is a gifted songwriter. She wrote a lot of songs for a lot of Filipino singers. To Love Again was popularized by Sharon Cuneta.
Here's a trivia: Until the late 90's, there used to be a kind of print media in the Philippines that's way more popular than komiks and magazines. It's called "Song Hits". It's like a publication of new and old song lyrics with chords written on the words. It's like a written karaoke. Filipinos would buy it and will be able to play instruments with their favorite songs specially with a guitar which is the favorite musical instrument in the streets. It's a form of bonding among friends to have unplanned meet up and suddenly jam with songs.
That's how musically inclined Filipinos are.
I used to memorize songs from that zine. It helped me not mishear the songs
And if you're not able to buy one, just borrow the song hits book and copy the lyrics of all song you like😂..its like 1 song book for everyone.. and I even created a song notebook a compilation of songs mixed from latest to oldest.. bayanihan time in learning the songs and having correct lyrics😂 on those times that cellphone is not common as well as internet and people will depend on tv and radios only..

Odette Quesada is probably one of the best OPM composers.

She was a force amongst the few women songwriters during many decades ago; she is truly a talented artist as she both composed several hit songs for popular singers and she sung so well too.
I read an article that says she was in high school when she penned 'Don't Know What To Do, Don't Know What To Say'. And of course she wrote the songs that marked every girl's life: I Need You Back, Farewell, Give Me A Chance, To Love Again, Friend of Mine.
The royalty from these songs must be so huge!
Top Suzarra’s band, Freestyle, is also one of the best. Their female vocalist, Jinky Vidal, is also an alto.
Finally, you've found Aicelle. She's one of the best underrated gem of a performer here in PH. Please support her.
Aicelle Santos has a high-quality voice and perfect modulation as she is trained in Phil. theater musicals. She played as "Gigi" Miss Saigon in London recently (just a few years ago). Hope she gets more breaks here in the Philippines.

Yay!!!! Finally, Joey and Odette!!! Two of my fave Pinoy artists.
Joey is known for heartbreaking love songs. She also starred in a few TV comedies (I am sure about one in particular) and movies. TBH, we can probably count in one hand how many. She has migrated to Canada and has lived there for many years. But she comes home every now and then and does concerts. She is a cancer survivor.
Meanwhile, Odette is a well-known name, especially as a songwriter. She rarely sang her own songs, but she wrote songs for many. A lot of those songs became hits. They're mostly heartbreak songs with words that people can really understand and relate to. However, one of her most popular compositions is a friendship-turned-graduation song called FAREWELL.

My gaaaahd I would consider Odette Quesada as a legendary Filipino songwriter. She penned tons of the best and well known pop songs in the history of Pinoy Pop. Her lyrics are like the story of my life.
Yay, you chose Aicelle Santos' cover of "I Don't Wanna Wait" at Stages Sessions!!! From 2017-2019, she played the role of Gigi in Miss Saigon for its UK/International Tour. She's extremely talented but quite underrated back home. Also, love that you featured gifted singer-songwriter, Odette Quesada, who has written some of the most beautiful OPM classics!

Odette quesada composed this song almost 40 years ago. And became the theme song of the movie of the same title that starred Sharon Cunete and the Miguel Rodriguez (a look alike of Christophe Reeve). Sharon Cuneta sang this song. And this song also became a theme song in a Jollibee commercial alatelenovela style titled "choice".

The original "Hallelujah to the One" from A Song of Praise Music Festival was freaking high key with a lot of belting that few people can sing and perform in the congregations. Jaya's version made it singable so it can now be sung by most people.
