While I disagree with Mark regarding some of the pacing issues, I'm glad that he said those things because it made this episode very fun to listen to. Like Mark said, it was important to bring those points up instead of just "circlejerking" the episode nonstop
Isn’t it possible Gloria actually can sense ki but was lying? Maybe he is able to but didn’t realize humans could do that so he’s surprised when Goku does. This could lead to a mislead where someone shows up as a threat and Gloria acts like he had no idea the threat was coming/there because they assume he can’t sense ki
Because of the fact Daima takes places before Super the current world rules of the Potara is the assumption that they are permanent aside from the weird Buu gas. The bugs serve as a way to still preform fusion similar to the Potara without the risk of supposedly being forever stuck together.

I’m also surprised no on mentioned Glorios little smirk after Goku bringing up the dragon balls. Unless I’m misunderstanding it looks like he is going to be using Goku to gather the dragon balls.
Mark's correct with how Ajay says his name. Ask anyone who's either Scottish or Irish how the R sounds in words when English people say them and they'll say it barely exists... Car in an English accent sounds like Cah or Park like Pahk. Similarly the G sound in Vegeta in an American accent is softer than an Irish one. It's almost a J in Mark's accent. So hearing it said softer would sound like a CH. CH and G sounds are similar in some Easter European countries. They are similar
My personal issue with the pacing thus far is that the core premise of our adventure was seemingly only just revealed in Episode 4: beat the Dragon Ball guardians. That premise is super obvious, and I figured that would be our route from the start, but it makes these past two episodes in the Demon Realm feel like meandering. There’s better, more organic ways to deliver worldbuilding elements, and we still don’t quite know enough about the new characters to be invested in them. I’m enjoying the journey, and I’m hopeful that things will pick up from here. Yet, I’m still waiting for the moment Daima really pulls me in.
I’m with Mark on this one. The pacing is definitely slow, but I could understand why… I do hope that it eventually picks up. Regarding the point about the fighting for the sake of fighting 25:24 , the moment you guys were talking about with the goal could have simply been ghoul could’ve been revealed to us without fighting either like Goku sensing someone harmless where they simply don’t fight.
LMAOOO I'm sorry I love language spats for some reason cause people are so funny when it comes to how people talk. "Yes this is totally not mahk" "I am the prince VeCheeta" let's just all agree the English language is kinda funny and even breaks its own rules when it comes to how words sounds lol.

And then everybody in modern English argues what the correct name for a bread bun is.
I think I agree with Mark here. So far it doesn’t feel like an evolution of Dragon Ball so far, but rather a retread when it comes to the random battles. Or did Glorio avoid having one placed on him? I think people are underestimating how much the lack of a dub is fucking them over. It's taken 10 episodes for even me to start checking it out with no dub and I'm a massive DB superfan. I bet the numbers for the show more than double when the dub drops.
3:39 This argument sucks because then it would cause people to complain more about the pacing. Show not tell is not a golden rule, its more like a guideline. This was an issue Mark had with HxH and a lot of people including myself were confused by that since dragon ball is the king of telling instead of showing (i.e the Saiyans just magically being a new thing bc plot).
Eh, 'show not tell' is PRETTY MUCH a golden rule -- telling instead of showing in a visual medium is often boring. Sometimes it can be done eloquently (see; LOTR), but those instances are few and far between. And 'the Saiyans just magically being a new thing bc plot' makes no sense -- Goku being a Saiyan does not break any pre-established lore, and the Saiyans actually show up...we're not TOLD about them beforehand. Raditz arrives, and the Saiyans are now part of the lore. You used one of the worst moments in DBZ to try to make your point, which doesn't make sense.
Guys, it’s okay if it’s slow at times! Not every episode is supposed to be the finale of TOP. Things need to build and sometimes things need to simmer. Everyone wants a microwaved meal but we’re in for a barbecue
I'm a big Dragon Ball fan, but Daima is starting to feel boring. It feels like we're supposed to be entertained by lore drops more than any character comedy or anything.
Yeah, trying to compress his mic is a nightmare for me. Will try and dial it in better for the next episode, but I'm kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to him either hard clipping or blowing out like it did here. Will work on it!
Totaly not mark wants the dragon ball super anime so bad😂😂 he been criticizing the hell out of daima, the show just came out why are we hating on it already
Yeah the pacing has not been very good. The first 2.5 episodes really dragged things out. It's likely because they are making Daima for new fans so they wanted ample time for them to get acquainted with the characters. But it comes at the cost of of just filling in the time with things that bog down the story. There aren't much new things to learn aside from small lore drops. The characters themselves we already know and pretty much just have predictable interactions. Now that they're finally on the adventure, it seems like things are going to move at a decent pace.
I agree with Mark, the pacing has felt really slow so far, I get that its trying to set up the world but we need to start being drug in again by the plot, so far they are just walking around
I personally like the pace, maybe my pokemon experience or not, but i don't mind it so far. Also, this is just dnd, and they are just the player characters. Also, i think this is a mutiple season show, and we won't get vegeta group till around the end of the first season. But I can't wait to see how the bug affects the show, too, and the fact they can run out of bug, and that may become a plot point
Gonna take my kid gloves off and say that this episode was written in a very boring way. Everything they establish they do so by words of exposition instead of learning it naturally through the characters' actions. The air is too dense to fly long distances? Let the characters get into conflict and realize they're out of breath earlier than expected. Besides, something that's missing from classic Dragon Ball, which I assume they're trying to do, is that every beat has a good gag. There are some in this episode, but Toriyama's writing was so snappy in those first DB chapters. I get the feeling that he gave lots of lore and more notes than usual but the scriptwriting is still clearly not by him. The previous episodes also had the same problems but it was balanced by the intrigue of what was happening. But this episode is just a long walk for the most part. I did like the last act in the town though.
Mf they litteraly did this 😭 did you even watch the episodes lol. Goku was almost eaten up by a monster because of the air, then later he gets into a fight that allows him to get somewhat accoustemed to the air. Even though the air rn is not incredibly dense it still allows him to work around it. So that point is gone. Also the story writing is changing, we have been so used to fighting and we’re finally getting used to something with a bit more story. We did get some beautiful fun fights, but we have to get exposition bc then it can fix up problems ppl have or will have in the future. They are playing rlly smart. It seems you just want crazy fights which I say be patient man. We just got into a new world
@@joshuameraz2826 exposition was before the fight if I remember. That's what I'm complaining about because it creates less surprise and tension. It's weaker storytelling.
For the flight, they have to address the plot hole immediately. Which entails a conversation. The other option is combat right outside where the plane was, but they already just had a fight. Idk, maybe just me
Mark, I totally agree with you! As a fan of Dragon Ball, I’m really enjoying this series. However, I was planning to watch it with my boyfriend, who hasn't seen the previous episodes before the movie's release. Unfortunately, not much has happened that would help him enjoy it!
The pace is a hair to slow for this episode. I dont find Shin to be that interesting of a character. Hopefully this new character will add some panazz.
Shin has the potential to be way more interesting. They could explore his history in the Demon Realm and relationship with his siblings. He could be the best character if done properly
@Ash_Wen-li hopefully they give him something with substance. I kinda miss his initial appearance in the buu saga where he seemed mysterious and cunning
I think the issue with pacing is not so much each individual episode, but the fact that we're 4 episodes in out of only TWENTY episodes, and we haven't gotten much of substance yet. If we have 3 demon worlds to explore, and we're almost 1/3 of the way through, I feel like we're going to rush a ton on the back half. The entire Buu arc was 57 episodes. The entire Saiyan Saga was 35 episodes. I just don't know how they tell an entire story in 3 acts at this pace in only 20 episodes. This feels like the Dragon Ball Super manga in terms of pacing, whereas the anime of any manga usually did about 1.5 to 2 chapters per episode. Loving it so far, but I hope it picks up, or we get more than 20 episodes.
I don't think we have had any confirmation of the amount of episodes. I've only heard it referred as a rumor but no actuall confirmation if I'm wrong and it's been confirmed please let me know.
@@JTRumpet491 From what ive read so far, there are no confirmations of it being capped at 20, it was more like at least 20 episodes are already done. But officially i don't think we have something
I'm really struggling to stay awake each week and finish an episode. The urge to click away and watch something interesting for a bit is overwhelming 😢😢
I dont think the pacing is off but more so that the release schedule itself doesnt match the content. Its too light and laid back to be released one episode a week. I can already see that daima would benefit from being watched in chunks at a time.
I'm with Mark the pacing of Daima is incredible slow and there's a severe lack of urgency, if you check the best parts of the manga almost all the chapters end with a cool cliffhanger that either will advance the plot or flip it on its head.

Crazy that the guy that Reviewed Dragon ball doesn't like the chill adventure pacing 😂
Guys, it’s okay if it’s slow at times! Not every episode is supposed to be the finale of TOP. Things need to build and sometimes things need to simmer. Everyone wants a microwaved meal but we’re in for a barbecue
Lol 4 kids in a trenchcoat
I'm a big Dragon Ball fan, but Daima is starting to feel boring. It feels like we're supposed to be entertained by lore drops more than any character comedy or anything.
This week was kind of slow for sure, it only got really juicy in the final minutes when the conflic arises.
This is why Mark's critiques are so unfair at times, it lacks coherence and has a lot of weird personal bias
Every critique has personal bias. Especially for an artistic medium like a show or movie
Shin's race is blind is that right
Mark should really look into the game Dragonball Fusions
Most popular modern animes have a fast food pacing and i hate it
love the pod but Tyson's mic is so over compressed that it blows out his track every time he hits a plosive lol
Yeah, trying to compress his mic is a nightmare for me. Will try and dial it in better for the next episode, but I'm kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to him either hard clipping or blowing out like it did here. Will work on it!
Also Tyson needs a pop filter
If i recall correctly i believe whenever "ki" was used the dub would just refer to it as "energy"
Dragon Quest Ball, or Dragon Ball Quest?
Totaly not mark wants the dragon ball super anime so bad😂😂 he been criticizing the hell out of daima, the show just came out why are we hating on it already
The show just came out why are we glazing it already😂
Same argument, you just want to glaze it and don't like critique
did mark get hurt at 1:03:15 :(
1:31:23 fin.

I dont like how exaggerated the characters are,but im probably biased.
Think its too early to tell.

I did like the last act in the town though.
also this podcast episode was very fun
@@OzkarGlezwell to be fair they're going around with a guy who lives in the demon realm. If Glorio didnt explain it he'd seem like a dick
When were we told it was going to be 20 episodes?
@@joshuameraz2826 Nowhere official, but I think the TNM team has mentioned it, either as a rumor or a guess, as have others
@@RedMoonLoop Not confirmed. Just seems that is the number everyone assumes it will be. I will GLADLY take more Dragon Ball, don't get me wrong
If this didn't have the DB branding then I would've dropped it already.
my problem so far with daima is almost no stake, even after goku become kid he still feel like in control of situasion
Well, now he’s a fugitive. That will make it harder for the party to travel to towns and getting resources.
It happens before End of Z/Super. There were never stakes because we know they can't alter anything after
