Kelsey Grammer Knew "Frasier" Would Be A Hit | CONAN on TBS
/ teamcoco
To me, Frasier is the greatest sitcom of all time. Nothing even remotely comes close. Just absolutely fantastic acting from Kelsey Grammar and David Hyde Pierce. And god, the phenomenal writing and producing... They set the gold standard, sitcoms today look "infinitesimally minute" compared to it.
The show helped me through some tough times and it'll always remain very close to my heart.
I totally agree! I still watch reruns
Couldn't agree with you more
+Mikhail Kalashnikov I've been telling people that for years. Anytime someone talks about a comedy tv series I have to ask them if they've seen Frasier.
I'm on my fourth time watching through the series. Netflix is a godsend. By far my favorite sitcom, to me it beats out both curb and Seinfeld, also greats.
It's not the best all time not even the best of the decade but it was a great show
there's too many great shows in the 90s to pick the best.
I still watch the re-runs, a show very close to my heart :)
I've always been a huge Martin fan. Like that was always my favorite Sitcom. I hated Frasier when I was little. But when I graduated high school and got a little older I started re watching it and fell in love with Frasier. You get the jokes, puns, life lessons more as you get older. And now it's my favorite sitcom of all time. :)
+Maria L I think he means the subtlety of the humour.
I️ actually used to watch the show as a kid but didn’t like It, but a month ago I️ was on Netflix looking for a new show to watch and I️ remembered a show called Frasier and I️ remember watching It as a kid but not liking Liking it cause I️ found It boring . I️ watched the first episode and ironically I️ got hooked.
Had the same experience as you
@@HushOGirl Most kids would not watch a show like this or understand the jokes. This is not an appropriate show for children anyway. Why were your parents allowing you to watch this as a kid? Did you watch children''s shows?
I was the same didn’t understand it at 10 but doing psychology at university now and I love it
Frasier is definitely my all time favourite sitcom! No other show had that same sort of character interaction and development
And cheers ?
+alex kanyima while cheers is really good, I don't think it reached the same level as Frasier did in terms of characters and sometimes I found some of the episodes never really resolved and Diane really, really annoyed me, even if it was just part of the humour. That's just my opinion though haha
Luke Jones it was more believable then frasier,
@@superlex611
Five years too late to say this, but I'll say it anyway.
Being more believable (even though I disagree that "Frasier" is a less believable show) doesn't make the show any better or any worse.
@Noire
No, it doesn't.
"You know I had a couple a flops, but uh.... it wasn't my fault."
"It's.... those other guys they sucked!"
That was great. :)
He did the same thing that Andy Griffith and Roseanne Barr did and it was counter-intuitive and BRILLIANT. He surrounded himself with excellent talent. Rather than saying, this is my show and everything must put me in the focus, he got excellent comic actors and surrounded himself with them. It took some focus off him but it put the show in the pantheon of truly excellent sitcoms. That's why the show has been on a constant loop on cable for the last 10 years.
+525Lines I have often thought of The Andy Griffith show when I think of the cast of Frasier. Kelsey did such a good job as the straight man so many times. He could pull off a physical gag too though. And to write for the show was a big time gig - just like those who wrote for AG. Both shows were powerhouses.
+Dan Stout Only great comics know how to be a straightman.
I didn't like it so much when they brought in Daphne's family, specially as her brother Simon who was played by an Australian actor, we did notice the accent in the UK..
Favorite show!! Still watch it when it comes on!! Anytime I am in a sad or bad mood, this show just brings me right out of it! Love it!!!!
I started watching it during lockdown and I mean I’m 21 so probably not seen enough to judge but this is the greatest sitcom I’ve ever seen. Absolutely loved it so sad I finished it but could go back to so many episodes
Good news though.
They're trying to revive the show in the form of a reboot.
A continuation of Frasier's story.
I can't wait for it.
It's Top 10 of all time for sure. They show had a great consistency and never "jumped the shark" imo. Good till the very end, unusual for a show that last so long (10+ years).
If you liked it, you sound definitely check out its prequel Cheers. Hilarious show that still holds up.
"It wasn't my fault."
Classic.
Absolutely loved the show Frasier, it was just so goofy and loveable. :D
still watch Frasier every morning! Love it!
Frasier was my favorite show growing up
The best-written sitcom of all time. Hands down.
I knew this show was going to be a hit after watching that episode in the first season when Frasier was about to smash something and Niles told him no and he ended up doing it for him and he threw some money on the floor. Shit had me rolling when I saw it the first time.
Which episode was that?
The pilot episode.
Season 1, Episode 6 "The Crucible"
I remember the Frazier character on Cheers he used to come into the bar and argue about his wife and talk psychotherapy.
Who knew that character would have his own show and be a huge success.
he looks so good!
Frasier was such a big hit on Cheers because Shelly Long hated Kelsey Grammer. He was supposed to be written out of the show after a few episodes but out of spite or Shelly, they kept him. And because he turned out to be so good on Cheers, they gave him a show all to himself. So we have a petty case of cooties to thank for Grammer's great success as Frasier. Awesome, huh?
They actually kept him because he was so popular with the audience, it had nothing to do with Shelley.Yes, she didn't like him being there because he got in the way of Sam and Diane but they didn't keep him to piss her off.
She ended up on an episode of Frasier. Guess they worked it out.
I feel privileged to be as young as I am and understand the humor of Frasier and enjoy it it so much that I still watch the re-runs regularly. No one around me likes it, it's too "smart" or boring to them. Anyone else feel that way?
the show is epic- love frasier and the other characters. intelligent humor!
You remind me of that one kid who called into Frasier's show and stated he had problems with bullying, flaunting his high IQ and insulting Frasier in the process, leading him to reveal the kid's location to any potential bullies listening.
Binge watched Cheers then went to Frasier
I am in your shoes :)
Frasier is great. Never liked Seinfeld though. Don't think i've ever even cracked a smile watching that show...
Frasier is my favourite show. I just love all the main characters!
I watch Frasier every night before bed it's my comfort show so chill and funny
Best writers ever.
Watched this clip numerous times over the years - still LOLs me up & I don't mean lols I mean LOLs.
was he eating cheetos before the interview? what the hell is on his fingers lol
It was cheese popcorn, conan says so in another video haha.
playing the same 30 sec ad for every single 1-2 min clip? Great way to stay on top boys
Frasier was one of the greatest sitcoms to come onto television. Love Kelsey Grammar.
I first watched Frasier when I was 18. I'm 26 now and it's still my favorite sitcom.
Excellent writing, some forget the actors are important, but the writers are the heart
One of those shows you wish never ended, just a lovely little sitcom.
holy shit I realize now why I like pale white girls with dark hair
Frasiers ex wife lol
+EAchank bebe neuwirth :) i mean Lilith
+EAchank Bebe Neuwirth
One of the best all time comedy shows. Great writing, acting, and, the show had heart.
I still watch the old episodes of Frasier on you tube... & i can say no other comedy show can still beat them until now
It always seemed to me that Frasier was supposed to be a high-brow comedy and in many ways it was but at 14 years old, 19 years ago, I never had any trouble "getting" the punchlines and the jokes. A true testament to the its brilliant comedy.
Love Fraiser! Just a great Cast and will always be a Classic in my book :)
No one is talking about how the house conversation between him and DHP was such a sibling move XD
Frasier is still one of the funniest shows to me!!!!
I was watching Frasier back when I was like 8. I had no idea what was going on, but I liked it.
Modern Family's writing reminds me of Frasier since it's so good and clever after all these years and episodes, but nothing is like the OG that is Frasier. Literally every single episode is golden from the pilot to the finale. What an incredible and hilarious and touching show.
Steven Levitan has been a writer and producer on both shows
Niles is my (and my mom's!!) favorite character. We watched all of the seasons together and really enjoyed it except for Frasier's constant love attractions that always made him look as much a dog as Eddie
That's modern feminism for you. Roz having an unending string of boyfriends was empowering, Frasier having a string of girlfriends was just him being a horn dog.
He's frasier in real life as well lol
Frasier has been wrapping around breakfast TV in the UK for ten 10 now, We also had Back to You & Hank. though they were never repeated..
Fraiser is the best fucking show ever! I watched every season recently and I fucking LOVE it!!!
Friends and Frasier, two of the greatest Sitcoms off all time. If you happen to not like one of them - or both - then you just don't get it.
Frasier in terms of intellectual brilliance stemming from highly intelligent script writing, and Friends for having a bit of everything, and managing to appeal to people of all tiers in society.
The show Frasier has a twitter account where every now and then they tweet quotes from the show. Hilarious.
Great sitcom! Classic
just do the line
I miss Conan
Frasier is to me - and judging by the comments here, to many more - a series thas has become very valued and close to the heart. It follows in many regards the rules of other TV-Shows but it outshines all others in wamrth, depth and authenticity of the characters. Especially Sir Martin Crane is a shining rock of old-school morality and sense throughout the show.
The only sad and simultaneously wonderful thing about it is that it has 2 finales. The Season 7 Finale will always be remembered as heartbraking and awesome. But the characters of Niles and Daphne suffer a little bit from that first finale because the tention between Niles and Daphne has created lots of happy memories for us already. In each Season of Frasier, one episode has always been a Niles & Daphne episode filled with desire and promise. "Moondance" , "A Mid-Winter Night's Dream" and "First Date"come to mind
That's my manz right there
My idol in spelling is Kelsey Grammar.
If you think of david hyde pierce coming out to kg as coming out as gay like it first sounded to me, it makes the convo after so much funnier
Man is he great
Actually just finished binge-watching Frasier on Crave. Hilarious every time I watch. It's a perfect example of what not to do while trying to date women.
Go go Power Frasiers
Kelsey was the highest paid TV actor at during much of the show. At the end I think he was making $2M per episode - a lot even now!
you gotta love Grammer :))
David: "So what do you think?"
Kelsey: "I think we're going to be alright."
David: "What does it mean?"
Kelsey: "Well, it means you're gonna, buy a house pretty soon."
David: "What does it mean for you?"
Kelsey: "Well it means I'll buy two."
I heard kelsey has such a dramatic life, so many of his relatives have died.
The fuck is with the top two comments? Who the heck is Kelsey GRAMMAR???
I've just gotta ask - what's with the orange fingers? The guy got heart problems or what?
... Will always love Frasier, got the whole series on my iPod Classic and I crack it on whenever it's rainy or I just need to chill.
He ate cheese popcorn before the interview. They explain it in another video. It should be on the related video section.
*Side-show Bob*
Anyone else see the orange tips on his right hand?
is that cheetoh dust on his fingers?
Tired of 30 sec unskippable commercials on Conan's channel
Of course!
Because Kelsey Grammer is a genius. He knew who would compliment his presence in the screen so he chose superb co-stars.
For starters, the charming and never to be forgotten John Mahoney, they delightful David Hyde Pierce, the stunning Peri Gilpin and the always lovable Jane Leeves.
Everything about the Frasier show was pure genius.
The name may have suggested that it was only about Frasier but Grammer's humility never let him treat his fellow stars as second class citizens.
The episodes that revolved around Marty were tender, Niles and Daphne were endearing and even Roz's life had us in suspense.
It was a well-rounded show and you loved every single one of the characters.
Frasier was much better on his own than in Cheers.
I loved Norm and Carla but Sam was an egotisitical waste. The show would have made it without danson.
He is one of those idiot men who think they are God's gift to women.
We can all do without men like that.
اطيب شي مسلسل فريزر ممتع و مشوق
Watch your "Grammer"...
What’s up with his cheeto covered right hand?
i was just about to address that lol
I was wondering if it was self tanner lotion. That or he & Eddie’s spawn got into cheetos! Laughed so hard when Eddie’s muzzle was covered & Niles later ate some wondering why they were soggy. Sorry, reminiscing & rambling.
Looks like it's just his right hand, so he may have been eating them backstage and didn't wash lol.
He looks somewhat like Jack Nicholson.
First thing he does is touch his face, which is covered in makeup. Which explains the orange fingers.
both these videos.. they didnt mention Boss once? such a shame! if your reading this, check out Boss guys. trust me, its the next greatest drama to hit tv. once breaking bad and mad men leave television emmys all the way for Kelsey
tru dat
I wonder if that's spray tan on his face... he rubs his face with those fingers like 30 or so seconds in, so it's possible he's rubbing off his tan haha
Ah I love Kelsey Grammer. He'll always be the epiti, ous Dr Henry Hank McCoy to me =P
Self Tanner, I think.
Either that of he's been juicing carrots. Or he fake-n-bakes.
It's probably the makeup from his face.
Is it just me or does Kelsey Grammer have cheese doodles dust on his right thumb?
zero dislikes
Grammer.
He's an old school stoner. He still uses colored papers that stain your fingers.
Forgive me if you've been sent this before but it was cheese popcorn /watch?v=cG7soiMwXss
Sometimes I can almost forget that he endorsed Michelle Bachman for the 2012 Republican ticket.
fu wells fargo ad
looks like self tanner
Just can’t find anything that comes close to the wit on this tv show
They did mention Boss here: /watch?v=atX0M99CB5Y
He got old!
2 house's
Fake tan maybe?
Cheater meh
Seinfeld > Fraser
+nickmordo Apples to oranges. Seinfeld was no where near the heart and cerebral level of Frasier. It certainly had humor - just no where as deep as Frasier.
Grammer.
