April 2023 brother and I have been in my 136 for over two years. I personally weigh 330lbs at 6'9. The autopilot pushes me around all day just fine on an expensive 100Ah lithium. With that said, I have been contemplating the bixpy K1 motor with similar power pole setup. Pulling the trigger today to order that motor. Why? For the same reasons are you partner. Great video! Thanks for going thru the added motor power setting. My high on the autopilot alone is 4mph. It will be great to see the speed improvement. Keep up the wonderful fishing.
You won’t regret it. More so then speed I have appreciated the option of cruising super shallow on the AP with Bixpy. Excited to hear about your new purchase, and thanks for the kind words!
Thanks for all your support in 2021. As usual I take a small month off during this time of year, but I am back filming! With that being said, how crazy is it that a duel motor is cheaper than buying an extra battery?! Tune in, and find out what happens to the performance when slapping another motor on my AutoPilot 136. #AutoPilot136 #OldTownKayaks
I have a 12ft Sun Dolphin [plastic] jon boat. I have a Xi3 Motor Guide in front and a Newport 55 on the back. I have APC props on both and get 3.6-3.8 on front and 4.6-4.8 with both. Using lithium batteries. With stock props I max out at 4.4mph.
We all know it's only a matter of time before you add quad Yamaha SHO 250's.... ;) Kidding aside, the Kayak world really is stepping into the future. Quite amazing how things are evolving.
Tal vez para mi un kayak con motor no es muy de mi gusto. Pero debo admitir que esa maquina se ve de lujo. Y sin duda alguna me gustaría probarla por alguna ocacion! Saludos Chris !
Fighting drag of the secondary unit you mean? If that’s what you mean then yes I would assume there’s a little drag involved. I have the secondary motor on a pivot mount though, so I do raise it up when not in use.
@@NextLevelFishingTV no I'm saying you have the first unit at half speed say it's 3 mph. Then you push the yak faster from the back to increase the speed but the original motor is still set at 3 mph. So wouldn't you be pushing the yak faster than speed you set the first motor at?
Ahhh yes you might have a point. The other big draw is that the rear motor (Bixpy) only has about 30lbs of thrust. After using this for a year I usually only engage both motors at high speed, or rear motor in super skinny water with head motor propped up. The Autopilot hull I’ve come to learn just isn’t designed with speed in mind. Even with competing brands and a 3HP gas unit, it still struggles to touch 7mph.
Good video as always i remember your first video with this kayak. The bixby really does a use diff for it cool to see you trying it out. lol question for you ever get tired of that kayak or get an extra feel free to send one my way lmao but on the real tight lines and keep on fishing.
No, Bixpy is a complete package with its own lithium ion battery that weighs 7lbs. Total weight of the entire thing including motor is maybe 10-15lbs The Minn Kota is on a led though, it’s much heavier but I wouldn’t say too heavy unless you have back problems. Looking for a lithium ion for my main motor soon.
I have a lead acid 100Ah deep cycle that works great although it does have a significant performance drop as time goes. I will eventually pull the trigger on a 100Ah Lithium Ion.
Bro I have a 60amp battery and I’ve done 9 miles and never run out and I do use speed 10 to go 1-2 miles from point to point. I’ve also gone 2 days in a row without having to charge and never ran out and you can buy a lithium for $300. It is faster and lighter as well so big mistake

That sounds about right.
I can't wait to get me one for sure.

HA! It has my man. Will be interesting to see it 10 years from now.

Saludados Rodolfo!
What Bixpy attachment do you have to mount on the oldtown? Is that the power pole adapter?
I don’t know if they make it anymore but it’s from yakgadget. You can google it and you’ll find the website.
If your leaving the minn kota at 5 aren't you fighting drag as the prop is locked at half speed?

Love that trailer 😂
Me too!

You all heard it here first. LKA calls dibs!
So you run 2 lead acid batteries in the Yak? That’s a lot of weight.

Do you mean "Duel" as in Bixpy vs the stock motor or "Dual" as in two motors?
Yup I just did that...lol Thanks for pointed that out for me Chris, long day today. "Dual"
Very interesting way to think about it. Not sure if I would ever invest that much into a battery.

@@NextLevelFishingTV I am going back and forth too about upgrading to lithium for my MK auto pilot for my boat
Does the Bixpy get in the way of the rudder on the autopilot
It taps it yes, but that rudder is so wide and responsive I really don’t notice a difference.
Thanks
What was the speed on max with bixpy without minkota? Like average ? Just bixpy speed 10
I’ve hit 3.4 on calm conditions with just Bixpy….but that changes drastically against the wind or in current.

You can get 100ah lithium battery for like $380
Got a link?
Check out rebel batteries, a lithium 100Ah runs about $580 and 200Ah is $1K. Also veteran owned, fellow Texan and located south of Houston.
Great price, I’ll check that out.
Thanks for the info!
Dual motor with lead acid is the most pointless thing ever.
What ya thinking here John…because of the extra weight?
