After being in a cult for decades I heard the gospel last year for the first time and I listened to Steve Lawton’s sermon named Who is Jesus Christ, in one hour I found out who Jesus Christ is and gave my life to Him.
Dr McArthur, thank you for 'safe in the arms of God'. It is such a comfort, and represents the mercy and grace of God. It helped me trust Christ after our baby died. Thank you for faithfully teaching the Scriptures.

R.C.'s comments from 54:21 forward is what led me to understand that God does not owe me grace. It was then I realized He is sovereign over salvation and gives it to whom He will. I began to see the beauty of God's holiness, and I yearned for Him with a desire that could only originate with Him. I never desired Him until I saw how hopeless I was in saving me, and when by grace He did save me, I loved His sovereignty. By His grace alone I am saved, and I believe! Soli Deo Gloria...
I too was an Aminian until I was in my late 50's, running against the truth of Reformed Theology. I was relying on my human reasoning more than the clear statements of Scripture. It was in the reading of Romans 9, one more time, that God fully opened my eyes. I was saved before I was humbled into Reformed Theology, but once I was humbled, the Scriptures became so much more clear and free.

@@mitchellc4 - The Pharisees sounded like they understood what Jesus meant. They didn’t go around persecuting anyone who used that phrase. Different things Jesus said made it clear to the Pharisees that he was claiming deity.
They are all truly amazing but John MacArthur really was outstanding here. He just really makes deep theology practical and understandable for the lay person so we can apply the Word in our lives.

Yes, I adore the man for what he has taught me. But he sure did leave us in good hands by bringing godly, brilliant men together to continue the teaching at Ligonier Ministries. He didn't leave us alone. I imagine the sheer JOY he is in and his discussions with Calvin, Luther, Spurgeon and others! I smile every time he crosses my mind.
I so love and appreciate the straight forward, truthful and matter-of-fact answers from MacArthur and Lawson. That is what people need to hear these days: Straight forward, unapologetic biblical TRUTH.
My heart sings when I listen to these fine men of God, especially John MacArthur. I listen to these guys and for once I understand and everything (well, almost everything) in life and faith in Christ, and Christ alone together with our salvation becomes crystal clear.

@@mitchellc4 Dear friend, you are very mistaken. Jesus claimed to be God many, many times in the new testament. True, there is only one God, but did you read John chapter 1? In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. Verse 14 then tells us that the "Word became flesh and dwelt among us," clearly referring to Jesus. When questioned by the Pharisees, Jesus said to them, "before Abraham was, 'I AM.'" This is a direct reference to Exodus 3:14 where Moses asks God who he should say sent him, and God replies, "I AM who I AM. Tell them, 'I AM has sent me to you.'" Dear friend, I'm not sure who you are listening to, or how you read the Bible, but it is you that needs to repent. Just as a question for your consideration, did Jesus have to live a sinless life to pay for sin? If Jesus had to live a sinless life, then when He claimed to be God, he sinned, committing blasphemy, which means that you no longer have a sufficient sacrifice in Jesus. The only way Jesus can save, is if He IS God the Son, coming in human form to die for the sins of man. @@mitchellc4 again, there is an intricacy in the text that you are missing. First, Jesus is called "The Son." Because it refers to His status towards the Father. Jesus, being the Second person of the Trinity, submits Himself to the Father. We see this in the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus says, "please take this cup from me, but not my will, but yours be done (paraphrase)." Now, some will say this is evidence that Jesus is not God, but this means they have forgotten other key passages in scripture. For example, John 10:30, Jesus says "I and the Father are one." This means more than simply one of mind, which we can see in John 1:1-14. Also, note the pharisees reaction to Jesus calling God His Father, they treated it as blasphemy! Why? Because as John 5:18 says, "This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God." Simply calling God His Father, was a way in which Jesus claimed to be God. So to sum up, Jesus is the Son, relationally to the Father, not literally. Many people go to hebrews where it says that Jesus is the firstborn over all creation, but those that use this text to claim that Jesus is simply a man do not understand the deeper context behind firstborn. Firstborn is again, used in terms of Jesus' authority over creation. He inherited creation in a sense, just like firstborns would get double inheritances in the Old Testament.
@@mitchellc4 Second, to answer the "God of our Lord" part, we have to first understand in what ways The Father would be Jesus' God. 1) Some think that this means that Jesus is merely a man, that that his God would be Yahweh. But we know from many other passages that Jesus is God, and if he wasn't, then He could not save us because He committed Blasphemy on many, many occations. 2) We can look at it as Jesus' position towards the Father, being the submitting Son who does all thing in accordance to His Father's will. We do see this portrayed in scripture, but again, we need to back this up with what we have already read about Jesus Divinity. This does not mean that by submitting He is less than God, simply that He humbled Himself before the Father (Phil 2:1-11). This is also made as a distinction so that no one could say that Jesus was serving any other gods, but only the One True God. We know that God is one and that Jesus is intertwined with the Father and the Holy Spirit as One God, but distinct persons within one being. Yes, we cannot understand how it all works, but in order to be faithful to the Scriptures that our Lord has given us, we must come to this conclusion. There is no other option than to be faithful to scripture, even when it says something we cannot fully understand. Blessings dear friend, and I will be praying that God will help you to have understanding and peace amidst the mysteries of Scripture. I would encourage you to read Isaiah chapters 9 and 53 withing their proper context (these verse are speaking of the coming Messiah, the same Messiah that Gospels tell us is Jesus). Isaiah 9:6 specifically says that the Messiah will be called "Almighty God." "For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on His shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6 Isaiah 53 goes into explicit detail into the death of the Messiah, and when read with the understanding of the crucifixion, it lines up perfectly. Again, peace be with you dear friend. 51:15 That's exactly what happened with me earlier this year. When I made it a priority to read the bible and spend time in prayer, rather than floating along "luke warm" like I had done for years... That "coincidentally" was when I discovered the Doctrines of Grace. Now as I read the Bible, I don't understand how others don't see it, let alone try to make the case that the reformed view is "unbiblical" or "heresy" (according to the especially uninformed). But I've had that feeling... like "how did I read through this before and NOT see God's sovereignty?"
The Lord is amazing and so gracious. I know when He began to reveal to me the truths of the doctrines of grace I was so offended and did not want to embrace them. But by the grace of God He changed my heart and opened my eyes to His truths. He has instilled in my heart to stand up and proclaim His truth to those whom He has called to salvation. I find it very frustrating how it seems the majority of the church today has rejected the doctrines of grace and have embraced the humanistic approach of appeasing the world to come to Christ by carnal means.
It's because the reformed "doctrines of grace" are like a pair of glasses you need to wear in order to "see" certain things in the scriptures that aren't otherwise there. Calvinism traces back to St Augustine, who gathered it's ideas from his Stoic/Gnostic and Manichaeist training. Initially, Augustine forsook his early pagan training, and established himself as a Christian voice to be trusted. But as he aged, he reintroduced those Stoic concepts (which the early church fathers all argued against), wrapped them in Christian language, and presented them as Gospel, trying to support them from Scripture. Because he was trusted by this time, a lot of people bought into it - and he is revered to this day by Catholics and Protestants alike - especially Calvinists. John Calvin himself said he could preach his entire gospel straight out of the works of Augustine. So, yeah, Calvinism and the reformed "doctrines of grace" and "God's sovereignty" are byproducts of Augustine's Gnostic/Manichaeist training (pagan doctrines), and need to be presented to believers as ideas first, and then "supported" from scripture. So, you were presented with the ideas, there's a strange logic to them which you found agreeable, and now you "see" them. And because luminaries like Luther, Calvin, Spurgeon and Sproul all believed it, then it must be true. No offense - it happens to the best of us.

@@mitchellc4 The Word was made flesh. Read John is some translation other than the JW's, AFTER praying for discernment. They killed Jesus for his claims to be God. Was Thomas wrong when he said "my Lord and my God" to Jesus? And only His body died. They didn't really kill Him... Hence the whole resurrection thing.

These guys are wolves in sheeps clothing. Their faith is in man, and not in the power of almighty God. The first guy at the beginning, can't even muster a prayer to Jesus about his bum knee...really following these guys could get you into a very bad place when all is said and done.
Listen to these men, they are men of God who know His Word in Holy Scripture. They veer not to the left or to the right, but stay in Scripture. These men know The Gospel of Jesus Christ and profess it. RC Sproul is in heaven now, but MacArthur and Lawson are two of God's chosen.
i had a pastor who's testimony was that before he was saved, he was approached by an evangelist who presented him the gospel. That pastor before he was saved had the courage to ask the evangelist with an honest question that few of us when confronted with believe or be damned would ask. He asked," If I believe in your message can you guarantee that I will be saved in the end". The evangelist could not answer this question with a "YES" so at that point the salvation of my ex-pastor was delayed.
All three of these men would tell you nothing was delayed. Our salvation is never delayed. It happens when the Sovereign God of creation regenerates a dead human heart.

One major problem with blaspheming the Holy Spirit and the lack of outrage for this sin is that a lot of people don't know How the Holy Spirit is blasphemed. How does one go about blaspheming, or not blaspheming, the holy spirit of God? This is a question we need to be able to answer directly and plainly.

It’s has been such a blessing to me and so many around the world. He is now in Romans 12. It’s on YOUTube on Lawson’s “One Passion Ministry” channel. Start with the first Episode and keep going. It just gets better and better. I have read and studied Romans, but have grown so much in its truth through this study...it is the ultimate work on God’s Holiness, Man’s sinfulness, God’s sovereignty in salvation, the golden chain of salvation, Sanctification, and so much more. A virtual treatise of systematic theology of the gospel! May God draw you to faith in Christ!
49:10 That was 100% correct in my case. I first heard of Calvinistic soteriology and kicked against it, because I was raised in a rather Synergistic household; not only that, but my family was actively opposed to Calvinism. Something kept drawing me back and back to examine TULIP, and I kept wrestling with it without ever looking at what the Scriptures had to say. Finally I sat down and read what the Bible actually said on the subject, and I (very reluctantly at first) was convinced of the Doctrines of Grace.
I have to say, these men did a wonderful job of taking difficult topics and making them seem simple when they are clearly complex. Many thousands of people struggle with understanding the fact that there is a quarrel that exists between God and mankind. That quarrel is sin. These men have made it abundantly clear that the quarrel still exists. Jesus declared in Matthew 7:21. Not everyone that says to Me, "Lord, Lord shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven but he who does the will of My Father in Heaven." Therefore, the will of the Father is to listen and obey the teachings of the Son. We do that by the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit was given to draw us closer to God through Jesus Christ. There is no other way except Jesus Christ.
Catholics do believe that we’re re-sacrificing Christ but participating in the once for all sacrifice that was done at Calvary.. in terms of praying to the saints, we believe that we can go directly to Jesus and God and the Spirit.. the issue of the “praying of the saints” is that we are asking the saints in heaven to pray for us, just as we ask those who are here on earth to pray for us. 😊

I have seen the spiritual realm for many years and received dreams and visions of future events that have come true many times. I follow Jesus Christ almighty. In the end times men will have dreams and visions. I have pictures of Angels around my children when they were younger.

Joh MacArthur has said, "I seems like a contradiction but it's not." Uhm... Not helpful! Robert Jeffress has said, "Just be glad you got picked." I've even had Calvinist friend of mine say that 2 Peter 3:9 should read: "The Lord is nots lack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any *[of the elect]* should perish, but that all should come to repentance." _Seriously?_ As if it would be possible for the elect to perish... I'm sorry, but I just don't get it. I am perfectly fine with the view that without the Holy Spirit, men do not by themselves seek truth and God. And I think that anyone who denies God and moral absolutes is lying to themselves and suppressing the truth in unrighteousness. What I am not fine with is what seems to be the false dichotomy of either Calvinism or Arminianism. I really don't subscribe to either! I really don't know how to parse it all out, but the former makes it sound like God is being arbitrary, while the latter suggests that man can come to God all on his own. I have great difficulty with both of these!

I sat in the pew of a Preacher (1935) and Rev. Wm. Fagan, Smithfield Ave. Congregational Church, wore a black robe, was 6'3", had pure, long white hair, two gold teeth, and red rim glasses, and would present Jesus as Savior, and then BANG his fist on the pulpit and stare at the people and say, if you don't put your faith in Jesus, you are going straight to HELL. He was very impressive and right!
I believe in creation as The Bible describes it, except; I also believe there is much more to it that God has decided to not tell us because it is too complicated for our meager knowledge to yet understand as infantile as we are, and as fallen from Grace as we presently exist in this world.
Dr. Larson dropped the ball describing the Gospel. He made no mention of the atoning power of the shed blood of Christ. The whole purpose in God sending his son to live a sinless life is so that his blood, upon his death, can be offered once and for all for the atonement of sin for all who believe on him. The atoning power of his blood is the fulfillment of the law which removes the judgment of death that comes with the law.
Yes, God help us! One of the most most mistranslated and abused Scriptures, with devastating results is John 3 :16 ! The use of “so” there, (I believe ‘outous” ) Should be translated “this is the way’ God loves the world!! Never is this word translated as a term of quantity. A Bible translator once told me when I challenged that translation, said publishers do not like to “mess with” favorite verses”. Another I grew up singing was 2Timothy1 :12 was a mistranslated “which I’ve committed to Him” Whereas should be “ knows how to keep that which He has entrusted to me!” What could be more insulting to the Glory of God than to think we have anything to do with our salvation!! I really really enjoyed this, I have been on a journey investigating Calvanism for a few weeks now! I am addicted to it. I agreed with everything that was said, but I am on the fence (or possibly over the fence 😉 ) when it comes to the charismatic side of things that John touched on. I am not a ceasationist, and in fact have been attending charismatic and Pentecostal churches for many years. I’ve had many encounters with what I believe is the Holy spirit. Many amazing powerful times of worship and sensing God‘s presence, I am really concerned as to the concept that any of those spiritual moments could potentially have been Satanic... but at this point, in my heart, I don’t believe so. I’m interested to know more about people who have a charismatic and Calvinistic outlook. To me to strip the Holy Spirit (and in fact the triune God) of his ability to bring revelation (through the scriptures) or prophesy or Miracle working power, seems to be a far far bigger blow to the power and majesty of God, then the Armenian human contribution of being the decisive element in the step of faith, during salvation. Having said ALL of that, I’m open to Biblical, thoughtful explanation into why God would stop working miracles.

Dr. Lawson told my story in speaking of discovering the Doctrines of Grace. I was a minister in a Wesleyan-Arminian church and while studying the Scripture began to see that what I had been taught and was teaching wasn't lining up with God's word. It was a life changing, eye opening experience of truly discovering that I didn't really know the Lord at all. God is so gracious and patient and He brought me to an understanding of the truth of His sovereignty, grace, love, mercy, and righteousness. Praise God for His word and the Holy Spirit's revealing of it's truths.

That's great, I was a Christian raised in a Atheist home and didn't know there was a difference, for me it was a decade ago Pipers "Is God for us or for Himself", this bothered me, but it took me on a journey fighting doctrines of grace because I didn't fully understand it, once I saw the overwhelming scriptures I had to deal with it, so I stepped out on faith not understanding everything, but when I did that God enlightened me, today it's SO BASIC, Arminianism IS heresy, Scripture can only be discerned Spiritually, that is by the Holy Spirit, so somewhat like Edwards I'd stay up all night, had real problems, but once the full tapestry laid itself out and I got it, it became so beautiful
I came out of the charismatic movement a year started listening ng to these guys. the Holy spirited started leading me into the expository teaching and biblical truth these guys preach. praise God! I believe in reformed theology now. I get angry now when I think about unbiblical filth that comes out of the mouths of these heretical televangelist. promising g you health and wealth and so us a seed and get your healing. most of them should be in prison!
I completely understand and can relate to what you are saying. About four years ago I walked away from the Word of Faith movement. I both believed in it and as a preacher advanced their teachings. I have listened to some of my old teachings I had recorded both on CD and DVD that I find it sad that I use to teach those things and say "God spoke to me....." whatever my mind drummed up. I was sincere and honest in my pursuit of God back then, but I realize now I was honestly and sincerely deceived by a heretical movement.

Curious if you've ever listened to pastor Mike winger. I believe he's at least leaning towards the charismatics, not word of faith type, but definite focus on the Holy Spirit. Just started listening to him recently so not completely sure of his standing.. but I worry that we're too ready to throw out the baby with the bathwater and might be missing out on glorious blessings from the Holy Spirit. Which I know is not what RC and MacArthur teach. I know I need the Spirit. I'm so unable to walk this christian walk on my own. Def going to keep listening to him to learn more. Yeah, I grew up on MacArthur--learning from him and local teachers like him how to read and interpret scripture--but I always longed for the down-to-earth humor of Sproul. What a great soothing he is to my tortured soul.

They don't teach to me they are mostly just talking. "Give a man a fish he only eats for that day show him how to fish he eats a lifetime". Tell me something is given me words not showing anything. Thank you Pastor McArthur for telling me it's okay to pray directly to God. I have always done this, but a part of me felt selfish for taking up his time when my problems were so small compared to others who need him more. And I also used to think that I should not continually thank God for all my blessings. And there are many. I thought maybe I am being silly and redundant bringing these constant Grateful thoughts to be daily expressed to him, but I truly mean every word and I want HIM TO KNOW ,. So now I will not feel quilts professing my heart to God. P.S. anyway I do know He always hears me, that's why I keep doing it !

Steve Lawson is really good . He doesn’t get the credit that these other intellectual giants get but he’s a great man of God and a powerful expositor of the Bible - and I’m saying this as a skeptic who’s trying to learn and discover Christ ......✌🏼
Dr. Lawson is my favorite Bible teacher to get guidance from through his teachings. I have downloaded many of his sermons through Sermon Audio. Your greatest discovery of Christ Jesus is through the Scriptures and by attending a theologically solid church. I would encourage you to use UA-cam or Sermon Audio to listen and learn through these men, always with an open Bible. It is so important that you physically open your Bible up and follow along with these teachers as they expound upon the truths of the Scripture. R.C.'s comments from 54:21 forward is what led me to understand that God does not owe me grace. It was then I realized He is sovereign over salvation and gives it to whom He will. I began to see the beauty of God's holiness, and I yearned for Him with a desire that could only originate with Him. I never desired Him until I saw how hopeless I was in saving me, and when by grace He did save me, I loved His sovereignty. By His grace alone I am saved, and I believe! Soli Deo Gloria...

I too was an Aminian until I was in my late 50's, running against the truth of Reformed Theology. I was relying on my human reasoning more than the clear statements of Scripture. It was in the reading of Romans 9, one more time, that God fully opened my eyes. I was saved before I was humbled into Reformed Theology, but once I was humbled, the Scriptures became so much more clear and free.

@@mitchellc4 Dear friend, you are very mistaken. Jesus claimed to be God many, many times in the new testament. True, there is only one God, but did you read John chapter 1? In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. Verse 14 then tells us that the "Word became flesh and dwelt among us," clearly referring to Jesus.
When questioned by the Pharisees, Jesus said to them, "before Abraham was, 'I AM.'" This is a direct reference to Exodus 3:14 where Moses asks God who he should say sent him, and God replies, "I AM who I AM. Tell them, 'I AM has sent me to you.'"
Dear friend, I'm not sure who you are listening to, or how you read the Bible, but it is you that needs to repent.
Just as a question for your consideration, did Jesus have to live a sinless life to pay for sin? If Jesus had to live a sinless life, then when He claimed to be God, he sinned, committing blasphemy, which means that you no longer have a sufficient sacrifice in Jesus. The only way Jesus can save, is if He IS God the Son, coming in human form to die for the sins of man. His flesh died, His Spirit remained, and yet, His flesh also was restored to life after His death.
So again, dear friend. Please consider what I have told you today. Please allow God to soften your heart and to hear the good news of the Gospel of Christ. Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

@@mitchellc4 again, there is an intricacy in the text that you are missing. First, Jesus is called "The Son." Because it refers to His status towards the Father. Jesus, being the Second person of the Trinity, submits Himself to the Father. We see this in the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus says, "please take this cup from me, but not my will, but yours be done (paraphrase)."
Now, some will say this is evidence that Jesus is not God, but this means they have forgotten other key passages in scripture. For example, John 10:30, Jesus says "I and the Father are one." This means more than simply one of mind, which we can see in John 1:1-14. Also, note the pharisees reaction to Jesus calling God His Father, they treated it as blasphemy! Why? Because as John 5:18 says, "This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God." Simply calling God His Father, was a way in which Jesus claimed to be God.
So to sum up, Jesus is the Son, relationally to the Father, not literally.
Many people go to hebrews where it says that Jesus is the firstborn over all creation, but those that use this text to claim that Jesus is simply a man do not understand the deeper context behind firstborn. Firstborn is again, used in terms of Jesus' authority over creation. He inherited creation in a sense, just like firstborns would get double inheritances in the Old Testament.
@@mitchellc4 Second, to answer the "God of our Lord" part, we have to first understand in what ways The Father would be Jesus' God. 1) Some think that this means that Jesus is merely a man, that that his God would be Yahweh. But we know from many other passages that Jesus is God, and if he wasn't, then He could not save us because He committed Blasphemy on many, many occations. 2) We can look at it as Jesus' position towards the Father, being the submitting Son who does all thing in accordance to His Father's will. We do see this portrayed in scripture, but again, we need to back this up with what we have already read about Jesus Divinity. This does not mean that by submitting He is less than God, simply that He humbled Himself before the Father (Phil 2:1-11). This is also made as a distinction so that no one could say that Jesus was serving any other gods, but only the One True God. We know that God is one and that Jesus is intertwined with the Father and the Holy Spirit as One God, but distinct persons within one being. Yes, we cannot understand how it all works, but in order to be faithful to the Scriptures that our Lord has given us, we must come to this conclusion. There is no other option than to be faithful to scripture, even when it says something we cannot fully understand.

I would encourage you to read Isaiah chapters 9 and 53 withing their proper context (these verse are speaking of the coming Messiah, the same Messiah that Gospels tell us is Jesus). Isaiah 9:6 specifically says that the Messiah will be called "Almighty God." "For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on His shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace."

Isaiah 53 goes into explicit detail into the death of the Messiah, and when read with the understanding of the crucifixion, it lines up perfectly.

That's exactly what happened with me earlier this year. When I made it a priority to read the bible and spend time in prayer, rather than floating along "luke warm" like I had done for years... That "coincidentally" was when I discovered the Doctrines of Grace. Now as I read the Bible, I don't understand how others don't see it, let alone try to make the case that the reformed view is "unbiblical" or "heresy" (according to the especially uninformed).
But I've had that feeling... like "how did I read through this before and NOT see God's sovereignty?"
The Lord is amazing and so gracious. I know when He began to reveal to me the truths of the doctrines of grace I was so offended and did not want to embrace them. But by the grace of God He changed my heart and opened my eyes to His truths. He has instilled in my heart to stand up and proclaim His truth to those whom He has called to salvation. I find it very frustrating how it seems the majority of the church today has rejected the doctrines of grace and have embraced the humanistic approach of appeasing the world to come to Christ by carnal means.
It's because the reformed "doctrines of grace" are like a pair of glasses you need to wear in order to "see" certain things in the scriptures that aren't otherwise there. Calvinism traces back to St Augustine, who gathered it's ideas from his Stoic/Gnostic and Manichaeist training. Initially, Augustine forsook his early pagan training, and established himself as a Christian voice to be trusted. But as he aged, he reintroduced those Stoic concepts (which the early church fathers all argued against), wrapped them in Christian language, and presented them as Gospel, trying to support them from Scripture. Because he was trusted by this time, a lot of people bought into it - and he is revered to this day by Catholics and Protestants alike - especially Calvinists.
John Calvin himself said he could preach his entire gospel straight out of the works of Augustine.
So, yeah, Calvinism and the reformed "doctrines of grace" and "God's sovereignty" are byproducts of Augustine's Gnostic/Manichaeist training (pagan doctrines), and need to be presented to believers as ideas first, and then "supported" from scripture. So, you were presented with the ideas, there's a strange logic to them which you found agreeable, and now you "see" them. And because luminaries like Luther, Calvin, Spurgeon and Sproul all believed it, then it must be true.
No offense - it happens to the best of us.

i had a pastor who's testimony was that before he was saved, he was approached by an evangelist who presented him the gospel. That pastor before he was saved had the courage to ask the evangelist with an honest question that few of us when confronted with believe or be damned would ask. He asked," If I believe in your message can you guarantee that I will be saved in the end". The evangelist could not answer this question with a "YES" so at that point the salvation of my ex-pastor was delayed.
All three of these men would tell you nothing was delayed. Our salvation is never delayed. It happens when the Sovereign God of creation regenerates a dead human heart.

That was 100% correct in my case. I first heard of Calvinistic soteriology and kicked against it, because I was raised in a rather Synergistic household; not only that, but my family was actively opposed to Calvinism. Something kept drawing me back and back to examine TULIP, and I kept wrestling with it without ever looking at what the Scriptures had to say. Finally I sat down and read what the Bible actually said on the subject, and I (very reluctantly at first) was convinced of the Doctrines of Grace.
I have to say, these men did a wonderful job of taking difficult topics and making them seem simple when they are clearly complex. Many thousands of people struggle with understanding the fact that there is a quarrel that exists between God and mankind. That quarrel is sin. These men have made it abundantly clear that the quarrel still exists. Jesus declared in Matthew 7:21. Not everyone that says to Me, "Lord, Lord shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven but he who does the will of My Father in Heaven." Therefore, the will of the Father is to listen and obey the teachings of the Son. We do that by the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit was given to draw us closer to God through Jesus Christ. There is no other way except Jesus Christ.
Catholics do believe that we’re re-sacrificing Christ but participating in the once for all sacrifice that was done at Calvary.. in terms of praying to the saints, we believe that we can go directly to Jesus and God and the Spirit.. the issue of the “praying of the saints” is that we are asking the saints in heaven to pray for us, just as we ask those who are here on earth to pray for us. 😊

I have seen the spiritual realm for many years and received dreams and visions of future events that have come true many times. I follow Jesus Christ almighty. In the end times men will have dreams and visions. I have pictures of Angels around my children when they were younger.

Joh MacArthur has said, "I seems like a contradiction but it's not." Uhm... Not helpful! Robert Jeffress has said, "Just be glad you got picked." I've even had Calvinist friend of mine say that 2 Peter 3:9 should read: "The Lord is nots lack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any *[of the elect]* should perish, but that all should come to repentance." _Seriously?_ As if it would be possible for the elect to perish... I'm sorry, but I just don't get it. I am perfectly fine with the view that without the Holy Spirit, men do not by themselves seek truth and God. And I think that anyone who denies God and moral absolutes is lying to themselves and suppressing the truth in unrighteousness. What I am not fine with is what seems to be the false dichotomy of either Calvinism or Arminianism. I really don't subscribe to either! I really don't know how to parse it all out, but the former makes it sound like God is being arbitrary, while the latter suggests that man can come to God all on his own. I have great difficulty with both of these!

Fagan, Smithfield Ave. Congregational Church, wore a black robe, was 6'3", had pure, long white hair, two gold teeth, and red rim glasses, and would present Jesus as Savior, and then BANG his fist on the pulpit and stare at the people and say, if you don't put your faith in Jesus, you are going straight to HELL. Yes, God help us! One of the most most mistranslated and abused Scriptures, with devastating results is John 3 :16 ! The use of “so” there, (I believe ‘outous” ) Should be translated “this is the way’ God loves the world!! Never is this word translated as a term of quantity. A Bible translator once told me when I challenged that translation, said publishers do not like to “mess with” favorite verses”. Another I grew up singing was
2Timothy1 :12 was a mistranslated “which I’ve committed to Him” Whereas should be “ knows how to keep that which He has entrusted to me!” What could be more insulting to the Glory of God than to think we have anything to do with our salvation!! I really really enjoyed this, I have been on a journey investigating Calvanism for a few weeks now! I am addicted to it. I agreed with everything that was said, but I am on the fence (or possibly over the fence 😉 ) when it comes to the charismatic side of things that John touched on. I am not a ceasationist, and in fact have been attending charismatic and Pentecostal churches for many years. I’ve had many encounters with what I believe is the Holy spirit. Many amazing powerful times of worship and sensing God‘s presence,
I am really concerned as to the concept that any of those spiritual moments could potentially have been Satanic... but at this point, in my heart, I don’t believe so. I’m interested to know more about people who have a charismatic and Calvinistic outlook.
To me to strip the Holy Spirit (and in fact the triune God) of his ability to bring revelation (through the scriptures) or prophesy or Miracle working power, seems to be a far far bigger blow to the power and majesty of God, then the Armenian human contribution of being the decisive element in the step of faith, during salvation.
Having said ALL of that, I’m open to Biblical, thoughtful explanation into why God would stop working miracles.
I was involved in the Pentecostal/ Charismatic church for a long time! Not anymore, my eyes were opened!

57:00 isn't it God's sovereignty that brings about this massive movement, while also bringing about the very small movements in reformed theology? Also, peoples ability to seek out reformed theology is simply based upon God allowing them to do so, as opposed to them being interested or curious, correct?

Everyone is offered that free gift of eternal life!, but not all will except it...thru faith alone, in christ alone! GOD Doesn't predetermine who goes to hell or heaven! Like calvanist believe, we have no choice in the matter,, and we're just a bunch or robots! That's absurd! He gives us free will to choose to except the free offer or reject it! I agree that the gift of salvation us available to everyone. However are you sure God knows who is going to accept His offer?? Read Genesis 22:12. Our time-space reality and how angelic beings portal into and out of our world are mysterious. And so is how God interacts in those dimensions.
But you’re right God didn’t predetermine every persons eternal state as the Calvinists falsely believe. That’s nonsense.

Dr. Lawson told my story in speaking of discovering the Doctrines of Grace. I was a minister in a Wesleyan-Arminian church and while studying the Scripture began to see that what I had been taught and was teaching wasn't lining up with God's word. It was a life changing, eye opening experience of truly discovering that I didn't really know the Lord at all. God is so gracious and patient and He brought me to an understanding of the truth of His sovereignty, grace, love, mercy, and righteousness. Praise God for His word and the Holy Spirit's revealing of it's truths.
What an amazing God, right? All I've done is sin in my past and He suffered for me to make me free to worship Him-He opened His Word to me and the richness of it never ends.

That's great, I was a Christian raised in a Atheist home and didn't know there was a difference, for me it was a decade ago Pipers "Is God for us or for Himself", this bothered me, but it took me on a journey fighting doctrines of grace because I didn't fully understand it, once I saw the overwhelming scriptures I had to deal with it, so I stepped out on faith not understanding everything, but when I did that God enlightened me, today it's SO BASIC, Arminianism IS heresy, Scripture can only be discerned Spiritually, that is by the Holy Spirit, so somewhat like Edwards I'd stay up all night, had real problems, but once the full tapestry laid itself out and I got it, it became so beautiful
I came out of the charismatic movement a year started listening ng to these guys. the Holy spirited started leading me into the expository teaching and biblical truth these guys preach. praise God! I believe in reformed theology now. I get angry now when I think about unbiblical filth that comes out of the mouths of these heretical televangelist. promising g you health and wealth and so us a seed and get your healing. most of them should be in prison!
They will be if they do not repent. They will be judged at the great white throne judgement and thrown into the worst prison imaginable.
I completely understand and can relate to what you are saying. About four years ago I walked away from the Word of Faith movement. I both believed in it and as a preacher advanced their teachings. I have listened to some of my old teachings I had recorded both on CD and DVD that I find it sad that I use to teach those things and say "God spoke to me....." whatever my mind drummed up. I was sincere and honest in my pursuit of God back then, but I realize now I was honestly and sincerely deceived by a heretical movement.

Curious if you've ever listened to pastor Mike winger. I believe he's at least leaning towards the charismatics, not word of faith type, but definite focus on the Holy Spirit. Just started listening to him recently so not completely sure of his standing.. but I worry that we're too ready to throw out the baby with the bathwater and might be missing out on glorious blessings from the Holy Spirit. Which I know is not what RC and MacArthur teach. I know I need the Spirit. I'm so unable to walk this christian walk on my own. Def going to keep listening to him to learn more. He's very knowledgeable and biblical. So far anyway. 😊

My daughter's first baby died moments before birth....it is a blessing to be a chosen first born to be instant with the Lord...not having to go through the sinful, hardship and nature of this earth. Here we are living for decades clothed in this sinful flesh, born again and waiting for our Lord, I cannot even imagine to be fully present with the Lord as a babe...by passing all this. thank you Lord.

Yeah, I grew up on MacArthur--learning from him and local teachers like him how to read and interpret scripture--but I always longed for the down-to-earth humor of Sproul. What a great soothing he is to my tortured soul.
I'm grateful to come across this video of these men of God. Truly blessed by the clarity they give to the Scriptures message. Praise be to God!
Tremendous truth. We must be red hot for God. Thank you gentlemen for boldly proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As Spurgeon said, "Reformed Theology is just a nickname for the Biblical Christian." Let's get back to the truth, to the true Gospel, not this worldly, self-centered prosperity gospel which is no gospel at all.

R C Sproul wasn't great because he was teaching Calvinism and misinforming them. Calvinism is fake doctrine and he will be punished 70×7 for being a clown. He was cursed like you and me. Only Christ is great.

RC Sproul doesn't understand some of Gods word and true Catholics should not let the church decide wrong interpretation but rather ask the Holy Spirit to interpret hard verses for you and he will do it in Christ our Lord,Amen.

I wouldn't say that they are excellent. They teach their beliefs the best they know maybe. But their best isn't excellent.
They don't teach to me they are mostly just talking. "Give a man a fish he only eats for that day show him how to fish he eats a lifetime".
Tell me something is given me words not showing anything. I say we let the rocks (audio bible) spread the good news since i me we us they them caint walk the walk. YOU are made "In the Image of God", Body, Soul, and Spirit. He IS: Body, (Jesus), Soul, (The Father), and Spirit (The Holy Spirit.) They are ALL different MANIFESTATIONS of "GOD". Remember when Jesus said, "I and My Father are ONE"? He also said, "I will send you the Comforter" (The Holy Spirit), then, He said, "I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you" . Thank you Pastor McArthur for telling me it's okay to pray directly to God. I have always done this, but a part of me felt selfish for taking up his time when my problems were so small compared to others who need him more. And I also used to think that I should not continually thank God for all my blessings. And there are many. I thought maybe I am being silly and redundant bringing these constant
Grateful thoughts to be daily expressed to him, but I truly mean every word and I want HIM TO KNOW ,. So now I will not feel quilts professing my heart to God. P.S. anyway I do know He always hears me, that's why I keep doing it !

Steve Lawson is really good . He doesn’t get the credit that these other intellectual giants get but he’s a great man of God and a powerful expositor of the Bible - and I’m saying this as a skeptic who’s trying to learn and discover Christ ......✌🏼
Dr. Lawson is my favorite Bible teacher to get guidance from through his teachings. I have downloaded many of his sermons through Sermon Audio. Your greatest discovery of Christ Jesus is through the Scriptures and by attending a theologically solid church. I would encourage you to use UA-cam or Sermon Audio to listen and learn through these men, always with an open Bible. It is so important that you physically open your Bible up and follow along with these teachers as they expound upon the truths of the Scripture.
