My father used to play these for me when I was a teenager. (He also brought back Playboy magazines from a co-worker)

Yes-very sad, but at least we'll always have her unique music to enjoy and remember her by forever.

Love Ruth Wallis....One of the best songs like this is "If I Can't Sell It" by Ruth Brown it's about a "chair" and you can find it on UA-cam...

Thanks so much for these. Older people I've worked with told me about these "dirty" records, but only Dr Demento ever played them. Could you give the year for each of these?

There are worse ones, that don't leave anything to the imagination! Have you heard my post of "Tootlin' Gal"?

And she is still too progressive for backward American radio. A real national treasure and we never got to hear her on regular AM/FM radio.
Even today in the USA TV and Radio is far more censored than Canada or Europe.
So much for land of the free, eh?

@greshamjohn And Australia was worse... (I think they banned her albums there - no, they didn't not play herrecords on the radio, but the Australians literally confiscated her albums from music stores...)

Some Rap music is vulgar and you don't hear that on the radio in the USA. The Rap you hear on the radio is more tame or radio 'friendly' (ie censored) versions of popular songs.
Ruths lyrics, although sometimes racy were at least audible, a notion that Rap has yet to embrace and another reason Ruth rarly got airplay.
American Radio is filled with such incongruities of logic.

Strange the USA would have such an attitude to her music, when rap is played so freely, and contains such negitivity & bad language.
