I love to listen to the police scanner as well. I worked as a 911 operator for 6 years in Dallas.

Thank you for your service!! You are one of the heroes who saved people's lives. 911 operators deserve more credit for their very important jobs. I will never forget on 9/11 a kind 911 operator prayed with one of the victims on one of the hijacked planes and comforted this passenger in his last moments. That always makes me cry.
My dad has been using police scanners since I was a small child. The chatter has always lulled me to sleep for some reason. I am going to go over his house next week and he is giving me more radios. We are going to make videos about amateur radios and he is going to teach me how to operate several of them at the same time.

This woman says press the transmit button when you hear something you like. Thank goodness whoever she is listening to is on a repeater system so it’s a split frequency. Lady all you have to do is hit the scan button again. You never press transmit !

Thanks for your comment because nobody should transmit anything over a police scanner. I should have mentioned this in the video. Good comment to educate others.

Hi Dee, I knew that with the Chirp software you could stop it from transmitting in channel mode. I don’t know how the press to talk can be disabled in frequency mode. Well if you figured it out. More power to you.

@@bulldogbrower6732 My dad is a HAM radio guy and been working with radios since the 1960s and did it for me. He told me it was against the rules to transmit on the police scanner. I should have mentioned it in the video. I would have never wanted to do anything to harm the police or possibly jam them.

The police in California have a different system you can't listen to them here on the Boefeng.

Yes, the signal is digital and encrypted. It is like that here on Long Island too. Can't hear a thing locally. The NYPD has over 35,000 officers. I do not think they can afford to go digital yet as it would be every expensive.
